Chapter 943 Violet

As the letter landed on the table, Neville frowned and said in a deep voice, "St. East... does he intend to do something at this time...?"

Isabella crossed her arms and turned to Neville, saying, "He does want to do something, but the purpose of his letter is to encourage us to do it first."

Looking at Isabella's cold profile, Neville stroked his chin, stared at the scattered letters on the table, and sneered:

“Saint-Ist wants to start a major war.”

Eddington slowly stepped forward, stood in front of the desk, and said expressionlessly, "St. East may have a reputation as a mad dog, but it's impossible for him to be so unaware of the situation. To send a letter at this time urging us to stop the Yan Kingdom's military exercises..."

"With ill intentions."

As soon as she finished speaking, Isabella chuckled, picked out a letter from the pile, and said to Neville, "General Neville, why don't you take a look at the contents of this letter first?"

Neville agreed and stepped forward to take the letter from Isabella. Isabella then picked up the gold florist's shears from the table, turned around, and walked to the windowsill in front of her desk, where she slowly began to trim the violets.

It was mid-April, the peak blooming season for violets. The violets in the flowerpot were in full bloom, but they were in two different colors: the magenta variety was Francesca, and the purple variety was Abella.

The purple flowers overshadowed the red ones, so Isabella began pruning and trimming, carefully cutting off the unopened purple buds to create more space for the red Francesca to bloom.

As she trimmed, Neville's face grew increasingly gloomy as she read the letter, her lips moving incessantly, but she made no sound.

Standing to the side, Eddington looked out the open window. The night breeze gently blew into the room, and although it was April, it was still a bit chilly that night.

Along with the faint sound of wind, he thought he heard what sounded like artillery shells being fired, which made him raise his eyebrows.

Since the Yan Kingdom's naval exercises began, the sound of cannons at sea can be heard from time to time these past two days, sometimes near, sometimes far, sometimes sparse, sometimes dense, and whether it is day or night, the sound of cannons is always there.

This has kept everyone in Pulton Port on edge, and when Isabella arrived today, he noticed that those who had come earlier looked unwell, clearly indicating that the military exercise had kept them up at night.

Just as Eddington was lost in thought, Neville's voice rang out beside him:

“Your Majesty, I have finished reading it.” Neville folded the letter, put it back in the envelope, and gently placed it on the table.

Isabella, with her back to him, was still trimming the flowers and calmly asked, "What do you think?"

Neville replied:

"As Eddington said, it was ill-intentioned."

"After the last naval battle, I noticed that Saint East has been behaving rather unruly. Now they are so eager for us to take countermeasures, which clearly means they want to see our country and Yan Kingdom go to war immediately."

"Although he said he would fight alongside us and stand on the same side, that naval battle had already caused their navy to suffer heavy casualties, and their warships were no longer worth mentioning."

Upon hearing this, Isabella accidentally cut down an entire Abella plant. She frowned and said:

"But he also said in his letter that if we do not take countermeasures, he will also launch a counterattack against the Yan Kingdom fleet that has entered our territorial waters."

Neville shook his head and said dismissively, "I don't think so."

As soon as he finished speaking, Eddington frowned and said, "Everyone knows that St. East is a mad dog. He'll bite if you push him too far. I think he really will do it."

Neville looked at Eddington and said coldly, "This is no small matter. How could he not know that the Yan Kingdom's military strength at sea is extraordinary?"

Eddington stroked his chin and said, "There are no wrong nicknames, only wrong names."

Neville's face darkened, and he fell silent.

Isabella then turned away: "Whatever he's thinking, I don't want him to do anything that would escalate the conflict at this time."

“I must give him a stern warning.”

Neville looked at Isabella in surprise, only to find that her expression had become very cold, even frosty.

"Why is that?" Neville asked, puzzled.

Isabella replied indifferently, "Because it would harm our interests."

“If they start a war with the Yan people at this time, I believe the flames of war will spread to our country, and when that happens, Saint East will inevitably ask us for help; it is almost a certainty.”

"There are too many reasons for us to go to war, and the consequences are currently unpredictable, but it is obvious without thinking that it will inevitably cause us considerable losses."

"And once... a situation of defeat occurs."

Isabella paused, put down her gardening shears, and then said coldly, "Then the situation in this world is about to change completely."

After he finished speaking, Neville's face turned ashen.

Eddington then added, "His Majesty has sent Sir Naomi to Hunli, and I believe he will be able to persuade Saint East of his reckless ideas in time."

Neville breathed a sigh of relief: "Well... that's a good arrangement."

Isabella said coldly, "I hope that Saint Ist is just acting rashly and not deliberately trying to start a war."

"If war breaks out, the current situation on the continent of Leon will definitely change. Is he betting on this?"

"What a disobedient fellow." Isabella crossed her arms and gave a rare cold snort.

Neville nodded, but asked, "Your Majesty, what is Figus's attitude now?"

Isabella pursed her lips and said, "Heh, Figus? He's unusually well-behaved now. No, 'well-behaved' isn't even an accurate description of him."

"They did not suffer any losses in the last naval battle, but to my surprise, their attitude has changed dramatically."

"It seems to me that the Shenglu people... are about to bow down to the Yan people... Sigh." Isabella said this with a rare, bitter smile on her face.

"That spineless, opportunistic guy is infuriating. He needs to be taught a lesson later." As she spoke, she crossed her arms again, a cold glint in her eyes.

Neville sighed: "The impact of the previous naval defeat... was simply too great."

Isabella pouted and said, "So I don't want to see this situation happen again, and to avoid it from happening again."

"We must prevent war from happening. If we can't fight, then we won't suffer any defeat."

"Speaking of which, when will these guys who are making such a ruckus on the sea ever stop? I'm starting to get a little anxious since I got here. Will their commander agree to meet with me?"

At this point, Isabella turned to look at the potted violet flower that had been trimmed and whose red and purple colors had become harmonious.
