September 26th.
On the vast ocean, the allied fleet continued its voyage along the original route.
The boundless fleet of warships almost covered the ocean. In the center was still the Sa Ri Kingdom fleet, while on the right flank was the Giant Whale fleet, and on the left rear flank was the Rose fleet. Compared to these two fleets, the Rose fleet was slightly behind, but not too far away.
On its flagship, the Lightning, Lucat stood on the bow, his face grim, gazing out at the ocean. Although the weather was not good today, with a particularly gloomy sky and a wind, the view was still clear. The sea was empty except for the ever-churning waves.
“Something’s not right,” Lucate suddenly muttered to himself.
Lieutenant Leto, who was standing beside him, said, "Marshal, we have been sailing for six days, but we still haven't seen the Federation fleet."
"Could they really be leaving us and heading straight to the South China Sea?"
Lucate turned and glanced at him: "I wish that were the case."
"But it's more likely that they've already reached an extremely bad state."
Leto understood what he meant. During the month and a half of sailing, Lucate had told him about the idea of this operation, and the reason for slowing down the speed earlier was precisely because of Lucate's intention.
According to the marshal, Yan Kingdom must have made sufficient preparations for war in the past few months, so they must act cautiously. Now that the Federation fleet has gone missing due to reckless pursuit, the worst-case scenario is that they have been lost in the vast ocean.
The person who can do this must be a member of the Yan Kingdom.
"I hope that's not the case," Leto shook his head.
“Speaking of which, we should be passing by Coral Island tomorrow, right?” Lucate asked, rubbing his temples.
"Yes, Marshal. At this speed, we will pass Coral Island by noon tomorrow at the earliest. What's wrong, Marshal? Do you want to stop there? There are quite a few reefs there."
Just as Lucate was about to speak, a bugle call suddenly came from ahead. He was startled and quickly looked up.
It was a horn sound from the Sa Ri Kingdom's fleet. Their warships were the fastest, but despite the horn sounding, nothing happened at sea.
Lucate was puzzled, but soon, flag signals indicating a slowdown began to appear ahead.
"They actually slowed down on their own? What's going on?" Lucate narrowed his eyes and looked at the shimmering sea again.
——
Clemento, standing on the forward deck of the flagship of the Dawn Fleet, was looking down at the sea.
Because of the wind, the waves on the sea were slightly higher than usual, but they would not affect the ship. However, a large number of broken planks, as well as barrels and other items, were floating in the constantly rolling waves.
Upon seeing these things, Clemento's heart skipped a beat, and a sense of unease immediately washed over him.
“It’s warship wreckage, Marshal.” The guard beside him frowned, his gaze gradually rising and then looking at the entire ocean ahead, where more and more shipwrecks came into view.
Numerous shipwrecks floated with the ocean currents, their severe breakage demonstrating the violent impact they had suffered.
Just then, several sailors threw grappling hooks down from the railing, then retrieved them and ran quickly toward Clemento with the hooked items.
"Marshal, this looks like the flag of the Delta Federation."
The sailors unfurled their charred and tattered flags and displayed them before Clemento.
Clemento reached out and touched the wet flag. It had been adrift at sea for an unknown amount of time; it was tattered and showed signs of burning. After lowering his hand, Clemento said with a grim face:
"It's their flag."
"It seems they have already... engaged in battle with the Yan Kingdom's fleet."
"The wreckage drifted from ahead, so the battle must have taken place further ahead."
"Pass down the order: stay vigilant and be ready for combat at any time!"
rear.
The Rose Fleet, which was sailing at sea, also salvaged some damaged items from the sea, and at that moment, Lucate was carefully examining a piece of charred half-wooden plank.
"Marshal, these are ships from the Delma Federation. They have indeed clashed with the Yan Kingdom's fleet. Judging from the number of wrecked ships, they... seem to have suffered heavy losses," Leto said with a grave expression.
Lucat continued to stare at the battered wooden plank, saying:
"Yes, that's the price of underestimating someone."
"It's no luck that the Yan people were able to withstand the storm and reach the vicinity of Chalme Island. I think those less than two hundred warships must be the vanguard of the Yan people. They are verifying the feasibility of this route."
"And this means... their plan is to travel to the continent of Leon via this route."
"They...want to take their warships to our country..."
The salty sea breeze swept over him, and Leto suddenly felt a chill. He couldn't help but look up at the sky.
The gray sky was covered with dark clouds. Although the wind had picked up, the clouds did not dissipate. At this time of year, the sweltering heat had passed, and the chill of autumn had already appeared at sea.
Leto looked away and said, "Then we must defeat them in the upcoming naval battle."
"Since the Federation fleet has already fought against them, the Yan Kingdom fleet must have paid a considerable price."
Lucate didn't reply. He suddenly picked up the charred plank and banged it hard on the deck a few times. Leto looked at his strange actions with a puzzled expression.
