A moment later.
"No, no, Mom, don't pour it for me, I... I really can't drink it." Qin Ze, blushing and sweating, tried to block the wine cup with his hand, but Lin Wan gently slapped the back of his hand, forcefully taking the wine cup from his grasp.
Qin Ze was about to stop her, but in a moment of distraction, the wine cup was already filled, and Lin Wan smiled and handed it to him.
Looking at the layer of foam inside the wine vessel, Qin Ze felt a surge of bitterness in his heart.
He hasn't even had a few bites of food since taking his first sip of wine, but he's already downed several glasses. His mother has been trying all sorts of ways to urge him to drink, and he just can't refuse.
Admittedly, this wine is rich in flavor and has an exceptionally outstanding aroma; it is definitely a fine wine. In comparison, the barbarian wine he drank last time was practically strong horse piss. But no matter how good the wine is, he can't drink much of it.
After a few drinks, Qin Ze felt lightheaded and dizzy. This made him belatedly recall that he had gotten so drunk in the barbarian tribe last time because of the phrase "just a little bit".
Therefore, it is clear that if alcohol is to be consumed at the dinner table, it is absolutely impossible to drink only a little bit.
He felt genuine remorse.
"Auntie...he can't drink anymore, he can't drink any more." At this moment, a soft voice came from the side.
Qin Ze slowly turned his head and saw a face flushed red; it was Zhang Zisheng.
Although she was a guest, Lin Wan still didn't hold back and made her drink a few cups as well. However, since she was a woman, Lin Wan considerately only let her pour a small half into her cup each time.
Even so, after a few drinks, the young woman still got quite drunk.
The alcohol she drank not only made her face flushed and her ears hot, but it also completely changed the tone of her voice.
Previously, she always spoke in a gentle and soft voice, like a spring breeze blowing through the willows by the river, but now she has become soft and sticky, like a gentle breeze mixed with a light drizzle.
“The wine has already been poured out, we can’t just throw it away. He can drink it, it’s fine.” Lin Wan’s words were clear and articulate. Although her cheeks were flushed, this little bit of wine was really nothing to her.
After all, Qin Haotian loved wine and would always drag her to drink a few cups. Over time, although she couldn't be called a great drinker, she was much better at drinking than the other two.
"Mom... I'm serious, I really can't drink any more after this cup, I feel dizzy..." Qin Ze mumbled, pinching his brow.
"Auntie... I can't drink anymore. I have to go home. If I go back drunk, Dad will definitely scold me..." Zhang Zisheng's cheeks were flushed, and she could even see double when she looked at the wine cup.
"What's the harm? We can just stay here for the night. Doesn't the manor have any rooms?" Lin Wan said with a smile, looking at Zhang Zisheng, whose face was flushed.
"No, no, I can't stay out overnight." Zhang Zisheng shook her head vigorously.
Lin Wan glanced at her son, who was engrossed in picking peanuts, then turned to Zhang Zisheng and said with a smile, "What are you saying? Our mansion isn't some other place."
“You used to come here often, and you’ve been to all the big and small places in this mansion. I reckon you know it as well as your own home. What’s wrong with staying here for one night?”
Zhang Zisheng shook her head again and said softly, "It really won't work, Auntie."
Seeing her flushed face and the way she seemed to have gone limp, Lin Wan smiled even more broadly. She couldn't help but move her chair next to her and whisper to Zhang Zisheng, "What's wrong? Is there some kind of man-eating beast here?"
Being so close, the faint smell of alcohol emanating from Lin Wan's breath made Zhang Zisheng even more dizzy, but then she suddenly chuckled:
"Auntie is really joking, haha."
Seeing her like this, Lin Wan knew that she was quite drunk. Then she looked up at her son who was still eating peanuts.
"Have you had enough peanuts?"
"Huh? What?"
Qin Ze had just managed to steady himself and pick up a peanut when he was startled by the sudden question, causing his arm to sway and the peanut to fall into the plate with a thud.
"Are you done eating peanuts?" Lin Wan said reproachfully.
Qin Ze hiccuped, and with a drunken laugh, said, "No."
"I've been drinking the whole time and haven't eaten much." As he spoke, he put down his chopsticks and couldn't resist picking up some peanuts with his hands.
"Don't eat yet." Lin Wan patted his hand, then added:
"Now that you are the ruler of a country and hold great power, you must govern with benevolence and treat the people of the world kindly, do you understand?"
"I know," Qin Ze replied casually.
"Alright, I hope you won't forget what you said today. On behalf of all the people in the world, I'd like to offer you a toast." As she spoke, Lin Wan nudged the dizzy Zhang Zisheng with her arm.
Then she picked up the wine cup and faced Qin Ze, and Zhang Zisheng had no choice but to pick up the wine cup and stand up as well.
Qin Ze felt helpless, but he knew he had no choice but to drink the wine. So he picked up the wine cup, forced himself to stand up, and tried his best to keep his face solemn as he said earnestly, "Okay, Mother, I promise you!"
"Alright, let's drink this cup together." Lin Wan looked at the girl who was already swaying.
Then, the three of them tilted their heads back and drank the wine in their glasses in one gulp.
As soon as he finished drinking, Qin Ze plopped down in his chair with a "thud," while Zhang Zisheng swayed unsteadily. Seeing this, Lin Wan quickly helped her sit down.
"No...no, I can't drink anymore, I'll throw up if I drink any more." Qin Ze slumped in his chair, his hands resting on the table, and mumbled incoherently.
Lin Wan ignored him and instead looked at Zhang Zisheng, who was slumped in the chair, and asked, "Girl, are you alright?"
