Chapter 8 Ten Years Later

The black dog slowly raised its head, its gaze meeting Li Ming's.

The eyes of the man and the dog focused and met.

The black dog suddenly perked up its droopy ears, because it could feel Li Ming's burning gaze, as if some intense emotion was about to erupt.

It was startled.

Really?

Could it be that Li Ming is interested in it?

Humans cannot.

Humans, at the very least, cannot!

But... who knows, some people are human, and some aren't.

Thinking of this, the black dog was somewhat horrified, shaking its head repeatedly and slowly backing away.

"This dog..."

Li Ming glanced at it a few times and thought the dog's expressions were particularly rich.

Tears welled up in his two dark eyes, as if he had suffered a great injustice.

He stretched out his foot, intending to kick it, but the black dog darted away as soon as he did.

"Sooner or later I'll stew this dog with some goji berries."

Li Ming withdrew his gaze and examined the "Jade Maiden Heart Sutra" in his hand.

What's the point of giving him this dragon-patterned wooden plaque as a reward?

The Jade Maiden Heart Sutra is the supreme internal skill of the Ancient Tomb Sect in The Return of the Condor Heroes. Li Ming is a cultivator of immortality, not a martial artist, so what use is this thing to him?

Besides, even if we wanted to use it, we wouldn't need it, since there are no women here.

If there were women around, Li Ming, with his earnest spirit of exploration and thirst for knowledge, would be willing to humble himself and cultivate with a girl.

But what about the girl?

Where?

Li Ming looked up at the sky and pondered for a moment.

Could it be that Xiaolongnu falling here is just the beginning, and other characters will continue to fall here?

If that's the case, Li Ming felt that there was still room for the "Jade Maiden Heart Sutra" to be put to use.

Thinking about this, he was a little excited, even expectant, wondering which girl was so lucky to be able to cultivate this technique with him.

"Never mind, let's see what's inside first?"

Li Ming opened the "Jade Maiden Heart Sutra," which was quite user-friendly, with illustrations accompanying the text.

Hehe, this thing is interesting.

The illustrations, especially those depicting dual cultivation, are particularly detailed.

He read it with great interest, turning the pages one by one, just like reading a storybook.

It took him about two hours to finally finish reading it. This book was different from the cultivation method he had imagined. It seemed to be a dual cultivation method specially tailored for cultivators.

It's really exciting, especially the illustrations above.

"Good stuff." Li Ming put away the Jade Maiden Heart Sutra and sat there waiting for a pie to fall from the sky, no, waiting for a girl to fall from the sky.

But after waiting for half an hour, no girl fell from the sky.

"Never mind that for now, as long as a girl falls down, I'll definitely know."

A day has passed.

Two days have passed.

Ten years have passed.

Li Ming never dreamed that ten years would pass in the blink of an eye. Do you know how I spent these ten years?

For the past ten years, he has been hoping that girls would fall into his arms all the time, not because he was lustful or greedy for girls' bodies.

I just wanted to test out the Jade Maiden Heart Sutra and see what the effect would be.

But what was unexpected was that he had already prepared to sacrifice himself for the experiment.

For the past ten years, Yunmeng Sect has been quiet and peaceful. Not only have girls fallen out of the sect, but not even a bird dropping has been seen.

Life returned to the peaceful days before Xiaolongnu arrived. He cultivated quietly every day, and when he got too bored, he would talk to himself.

Talking to himself is his usual way of relieving boredom.

However, these past ten years have been the most fruitful for him, because after Xiaolongnu arrived, the first floor of the library was opened, and there were a large number of books available for reading.

The first level contains many cultivation manuals, including various explanations of cultivation levels, such as Qi Refining, Foundation Establishment, Enlightenment, Bigu (abstaining from grains), Golden Core, Nascent Soul, Out-of-Body, Divide of Spirit, Integration, and Tribulation Transcending—common level classifications.

The Qi Refining Technique is the introductory cultivation method for immortality, used to build a foundation. Generally, reaching the 13th level is considered the ultimate level.

Li Ming was completely stunned, because he had already reached the 35th level of Qi Refining.

For the past ten years, he has been cultivating every day, and as a result, he has progressed from level 19 to level 35.

"Am I practicing a fake 'Qi Refining Technique'?"

Li Ming found it unbelievable, but he quickly regained his composure because he believed that everything should be done in moderation.

The Qi Cultivation Techniques definitely have their limits.

I'm not too worried about that.

Besides acquiring this knowledge, Li Ming also read many, many books.

After ten years of immersion, I've finally caught up on the basic knowledge of cultivation that I had missed before.

It can be said that these ten years were crucial for him.

He had been cultivating in a haphazard way before, because no one taught him and there were no materials to read. The first floor of the library just happened to meet his needs.

There were just too many books; it took me ten years to barely finish reading them all.

I have also gained some understanding of elixirs, talismans, formations, and escape techniques.

However, he doesn't plan to cultivate for the time being. He wants to cultivate the Qi Refining Technique to its limit first. According to his estimation, the Qi Refining Technique has a maximum of thirty-six levels.

Therefore, he wasn't in a hurry at all.

The key to cultivating immortality is stability.

We can't rush things; we have to take it one step at a time.

Only with a solid foundation can one build a towering edifice and eventually step into the mysterious realms of true immortals, sages, and great emperors.

Therefore, he is currently in a very stable state of mind because he has opened a hidden compartment on the first floor of the library.

Take out a wooden box from the hidden compartment; it's full of wonderful and interesting books.

The apprentice's diligence makes the master seem a bit lazy.

My Master Became My Brother and Later My Husband

Where the sun can't get in, people can.

What I miss is trembling together.

Vulnerabilities must be plugged promptly.

I'm good at both critical hits and attack speed.

No one wants to keep reopening their wounds unless they aren't wounds at all.

How much does it really hurt?

And so on...

Li Ming would flip through it in his spare time, especially the book "The Apprentice's Diligence Makes the Master Seem a Little Lazy".

This book is exceptionally well-written; he couldn't put it down. If he could tip it, he'd want to give it a Gold VIP membership.

That day, Li Ming stayed in the library reading as usual. As he read, a feeling suddenly came to him.

There's a faint feeling that I'm about to break through.

Li Ming immediately left the library and went to the vicinity of the peach blossom forest. He sat cross-legged and began to circulate his only cultivation technique, the Qi Refining Technique.

With a thought, terrifying electric sparks crackled around his body. Upon reaching the 35th floor, his spiritual power was incredibly powerful, transforming into bolts of lightning that were as thunderous as thunder itself and as overwhelming as the heavens.

He slowly floated up, and the surrounding spiritual energy gathered towards him.

The black dog, not far away, glanced at it indifferently, thought it wasn't interesting, and continued sleeping.

As Li Ming was trying to break through, he suddenly noticed the dragon-patterned wooden plaque at his waist flash, and then heard a "bang" as it crashed to the edge of the peach blossom forest.

Someone is coming.

Let's leave him alone for now and deal with him after he's finished his breakthrough.
