rushing to
In the evening in Massabit, the wind carried the damp heat and the smell of disinfectant.
After getting out of the off-road vehicle, Tezuka and Eiji Yagyu looked around and remained silent for a long time.
Eiji Yagyu's brow furrowed even deeper. He said to Tezuka, "Give her a call first."
Tezuka tried to persuade him: "Uncle, we can go back to the car and wait. Melodia is still busy at this time."
"What's so busy about an intern like her?" Eiji Yagyu's initial change of opinion about Tezuka turned into dissatisfaction. "I'll do it myself."
As he spoke, he turned around and took his phone from the passenger seat, but before he could dial a number, a voice called his name from the side.
"Eishi-senpai?" A Doctors Without Borders member who had come to provide support stood at the back of the vehicle, looking at Yagyu Eishi with surprise. After recognizing Tezuka's face beside him, he exclaimed in surprise, "Tezuka Kunimitsu?"
When Yagyu Eishi unexpectedly saw an old friend, his hand paused as he made the phone call. He wasn't exactly familiar with the other person, but he couldn't resist the other's enthusiastic greetings and could only respond politely.
He's Xiaoya's junior, after all.
Tezuka stood quietly to the side, also noticing something amiss. Suddenly, he caught a glimpse of the figure emerging from the hospital room through the corridor window.
She rubbed her temples, her slender figure revealing an undeniable weariness.
“Melodia…”
Tezuka had never seen her like this before. He murmured her name, feeling only heartache.
Then, without even waiting for Yagyu Eishi to finish greeting everyone, he simply turned and nodded hastily to him before heading towards the main building.
Standing at the end of the corridor, he called out to the person he had been longing for day and night: "Melodia."
When he saw that she looked a little dazed, he quickly walked towards her.
He Zou looked up blankly and met a pair of familiar eyes.
Guoguang was walking towards her.
Dressed in simple black, he still looked dashing and upright in the twilight, standing out from the rough surroundings.
There was no surprise in the eyes that looked at her, only a deep, unfathomable heartache.
"Kunimitsu..." Kanade murmured, her voice slightly hoarse. Realizing her current appearance and afraid he would worry, she forced a smile and asked, "What happened to you—"
But before she could finish speaking, she suddenly saw the figure behind Tezuka.
My father, Eiji Yagyu, walked in talking to a Doctors Without Borders volunteer at the hospital. His brows were furrowed as usual, and his expression was as serious as ever.
His clothes, expression, and movements were all normal; the only abnormal thing was that such a father would not appear here.
At that moment, Yagyu Eishi seemed to only then notice Kazusa's gaze and slowly looked up.
The moment their eyes met, the forced smile on Kazusa's face could no longer be maintained. All the complex emotions seemed to find an outlet at that moment.
Her nose tingled, and her eyes quickly reddened uncontrollably.
As her vision began to blur, Kanade quickly lowered her head, avoiding her father's gaze, not wanting him to see her in this disheveled state. However, one hand instinctively reached out and grabbed the hem of Tezuka's clothes beside her.
“Melodia.” Her trembling fingers betrayed her helplessness, and Tezuka’s heart felt as if it had been ripped apart, a sharp pain shooting through him.
Hearing him softly call her name, Hezou's tears, which she had been holding back, finally burst forth. She couldn't lift her head, so large drops of tears fell onto the cement floor, quickly seeping into the cracks and leaving shallow watermarks.
She hadn't intended to cry, but she couldn't stop herself, which made her even more frustrated, and her tears fell even faster.
Without hesitation, Tezuka reached out and gently pulled her into his arms, using his body to create a temporary barrier for her.
Eishi Yagyu paused, seeing his daughter burying her face in another person's shoulder, her thin shoulder trembling slightly. The lines on his cold, hard face became even more rigid.
When was the last time Mero cried in his arms?
Oh right, it was when she was five years old, when Xiaoya was going to South Sudan. She cried and begged to go with her mother. After being refused, she sobbed in his arms, her face covered in tears and snot.
Actually, he really wanted to cry at that time, because there was a war going on in South Sudan.
Recalling his daughter's crying face when she was little, Eishi Yagyu's lips moved as if he wanted to call her name or say something.
However, seeing his daughter's obvious exhaustion and vulnerability, and seeing Tezuka Kunimitsu lose his composure and show panic and heartache while holding her... in the end, all the words that were on the tip of his tongue turned into an almost inaudible sigh and were swallowed back.
He stood silently, his gaze fixed on his daughter with a complex expression. In his always somewhat dark purple eyes, there surged obscure emotions that no one could understand.
The doctor who became part of the background had a pair of knowing eyes behind his reflective glasses—relationships are such a troublesome thing, but luckily he was all alone.
After this somewhat chaotic and unpleasant meeting, Eishi Yagyu was invited to Professor Oluka's house, while Tezuka stayed behind to accompany Kanade.
As night fell completely, a brand new tent was erected in a corner of the camp.
In the dark tent, Hezou lay on the floor, his strong hands pressing down on her shoulders and back with just the right amount of pressure. The fatigue of the past few days seemed to be squeezed out of her body with the movement of his fingers.
"Is this okay?" Tezuka asked, carefully feeling the stiff body under his palm and adjusting his pressure.
"Mmm, that feels so good." She took his hand and placed it on his waist. "You should massage here too."
Tezuka chuckled and followed her instructions, kneading her waist.
"Hmm—"
Hezai's waist suddenly trembled, and she let out a short, uncontrolled gasp before abruptly stopping.
In the darkness, Tezuka suddenly realized that the spot where his fingertips had lingered was the most sensitive area on her waist...
He lingered there repeatedly, causing her to tremble.
The air inside the tent suddenly felt strange.
Feeling her body stiffen again, Tezuka gently massaged the soft flesh with his thumb in circles.
Kazusa's breathing became heavy. She rubbed the backs of her feet against the rough blanket and murmured his name: "Kunimitsu..."
Like a love confession, or even more like an unconscious cry for help, it stirred the heart of the only person who heard it.
“Melodia,” Tezuka leaned down from behind her, his breath hotter against her ear, and whispered, “Do you want to?”
As she asked this question, her hand, which had been resting on her waist, moved to her lower abdomen in front of her.
Kazusa's body was burning hot, but she still turned her head and kissed him on the lips, suppressing her rapid breathing, and asked, "What do you want?"
Hearing her laughing voice, even in the darkness, Tezuka could imagine the mischievous look on her flushed face.
Still being so cheeky at a time like this.
But her body language tells a different story.

Sensing her tacit consent, Tezuka's breathing became even more disordered. His ears burned, and his movements were still somewhat awkward, yet seemingly filled with endless patience and gentleness. Noticing a hint of tension behind her candor, he opened her left hand, which was gripping the blanket, and intertwined his fingers with hers.

Tezuka released her lips, kissed away the moisture from the corner of her eyes, and then lingered on her cheek for a long time, feeling the throbbing beneath her skin, soothing her gently as she drifted off to sleep.
When Kanade came to her senses, she felt his gentle kiss and her heart pounding just as hard as hers. At that moment, Kanade felt a long-lost peace, and her body and soul were infinitely dependent on him.
Once her breathing had calmed down, Tezuka reached out and brushed aside the sweaty strands of hair on the back of her neck, asking softly, "Are you alright?"
"So tired." The exhaustion from the past few days seeped into her bones. Now, Kazusa didn't even want to move her fingers. She closed her eyes and snuggled contentedly against him. "You've made me fall apart."
Tezuka chuckled, wiped her clean, covered them both with a blanket, and patted her back: "Sleep, Melodia, you need to rest."
"And you?" Kazusa shifted her waist slightly, sensing the uncontrollable changes in his body.
"Don't move. You're tired, go to sleep." Tezuka held her still restless hand and said in a hoarse voice, "Wait for us to go home."
"Hmm." Kazusa's eyelids were so heavy she could barely lift them, but she followed her instincts and made a promise: "When we get home, I'll give it all to you..."
"Okay." Tezuka smiled, ignoring his aching body as he protested, and wrapped his arms around her shoulders, holding her even tighter, before making any further moves.
"Guoguang".
"I am here."
Hearing the gentle response, Kanade's lips, which were close to his neck, moved slightly: "I missed you so much, so much." Her voice gradually weakened, like a whisper.
"I know." Tezuka's throat tightened as he replied to her, who was already asleep, "Me too."
That early morning, when he was startled awake, his longing for Melodia was stronger than ever before. The thought of her tossing and turning, unable to sleep where he couldn't see her, sent a dull ache through his left ribs.
Now, able to fall asleep to the sound of her breathing again, Tezuka felt an overwhelming sense of satisfaction at having regained what he had lost. He couldn't help but gently kiss the cute curve of her lips, and murmured:
Goodnight, Schatz.
