Chapter 264 Failed to Borrow Money
Lu Huailin led Hao Hao out of the nursery.
Looking down at him, she asked softly, "Haohao, what stories did your daycare teacher tell you today?"
Hao Hao wrinkled his little nose, raised his little head, glanced at Lu Huailin, and knew that his father must want to hear a story again.
He sighed, acting like a little adult.
She said in a childish voice, "Daddy, you're so pitiful. Grandpa can't bear to let you go to daycare."
Upon hearing this, Lu Huailin's lips curled up slightly as he suppressed a laugh.
She put on a pitiful look and looked at him: "Yes, Daddy has never been to daycare, so he can only rely on Hao Hao to hear stories."
To improve Hao Hao's language skills, he went to great lengths, pretending to be pitiful and making excuses every day.
Hao Hao looked at Lu Huailin's pitiful expression.
A sense of responsibility instantly surged through her, and she patted his shoulder with her chubby little hands.
He coaxed softly, "Dad, don't be sad. I'll tell you the story of Nezha making havoc in the sea."
Upon hearing this, Lu Huailin bent down, reached out and gently pinched Hao Hao's little nose, and said with a smile, "Thank you, Hao Hao, for telling Daddy a story."
After saying that, she picked him up in one go.
Hao Hao grinned, revealing a row of neat little baby teeth.
The little bottom sat steadily on Lu Huailin's arm, with its back straight.
I recalled the scene where the nursery teacher told me about Nezha making havoc in the sea.
Using the words he could remember, he gesticulated wildly as he recounted everything to Lu Huailin.
Lu Huailin listened intently, waiting for Hao Hao to get to the exciting parts.
She nodded in agreement with him while deliberately giving him a very impressive look.
Hao Hao was extremely pleased with himself.
Lu Huailin gave him a thumbs up and praised, "Haohao, you told a really good story."
Hao Hao covered his mouth with his little hands and giggled. He liked being praised by his parents.
At the entrance of the courtyard
"Commander Lu, wait a moment."
Upon hearing this, Lu Huailin turned around with Hao Hao in his arms and looked at Deputy Battalion Commander Wang, who was walking towards him.
He asked in surprise, "Deputy Battalion Commander Wang, is there something you need?"
Deputy Battalion Commander Wang strode up to Lu Huailin and glanced at Hao Hao, who was curiously looking at him.
He opened his mouth, hesitated for a moment, and then stammered, "Commander Lu, my family is a little short of money lately, and I'd like to borrow some from you to tide me over."
Lu Huailin was taken aback when he heard this, not expecting that Deputy Battalion Commander Wang wanted to borrow money from him.
She looked up and examined him closely, noticing his embarrassed expression, and asked calmly, "How much do you want to borrow?"
Upon hearing this, Deputy Battalion Commander Wang's eyes lit up instantly, and he quickly held up five fingers.
He began, "Not many, just five..."
"Crunch"
The sound of Gu Yihan opening the courtyard gate interrupted Deputy Battalion Commander Wang's words.
She smiled and walked up to Lu Huailin, tugging at his sleeve.
He said, "It sounds like your voices, father and son."
Upon hearing this, Lu Huailin was stunned. He looked down at his wife's hand, which was tightly gripping the hem of his clothes, and pondered for a moment.
He looked up, smiling, and said, "Honey, have you finished making dinner?"
Gu Yihan smiled and nodded.
"Commander Lu, look..."
Deputy Battalion Commander Wang quickly interrupted.
He was really in a hurry, as Lancao was still waiting for him at the entrance of the family compound.
No matter how much I pleaded with her, she wouldn't leave, so I had no choice but to come back quickly.
Upon hearing this, Lu Huailin slapped his forehead and laughed as he placed Hao Hao into Gu Yihan's arms.
Tao reached into his pants pocket and, a minute later, finally pulled out five small bills, which he handed to Deputy Battalion Commander Wang.
"Here, I still have fifty cents."
"I'm not trying to be mean, but you, Deputy Battalion Commander Wang, are living such a miserable life that you have to borrow even five cents."
Gu Yihan held Hao Hao in her arms and watched Lu Huailin take out his money, thinking that he hadn't understood what she meant.
After searching for so long, all they found were a few small bills, which infuriated Deputy Battalion Commander Wang.
Her gaze fell on Deputy Battalion Commander Wang, and sure enough, his face was as black as soot.
Gu Yihan bit her lip hard, trying to suppress her laughter, afraid she wouldn't be able to control herself from laughing out loud.
Deputy Battalion Commander Wang's face turned ashen as he looked at the few thin bills fluttering in the wind in front of him.
He raised his eyes and stared at Lu Huailin, his face cold, and questioned, "Commander Lu, what do you mean by this?"
To humiliate him?
He finally managed to ask for a favor, and Lu Huailin humiliated him with those few coins.
Lu Huailin seemed to be blind and deaf.
He neither understood the deputy battalion commander's expression nor the meaning behind his words.
He shoved the five small bills in his hand into the other person's hand with a flourish.
He said, "It's yours, you don't need to return it."
After saying that, before Deputy Battalion Commander Wang could react, he put his arm around his wife's waist and went straight back to the courtyard.
With a "snap," the courtyard gate slammed shut.
Deputy Battalion Commander Wang clutched the few small bills in his hand tightly, feeling as if he had been insulted like never before.
Back to the living room
Gu Yihan could no longer hold back. She put Hao Hao down, clutched her stomach, and burst into laughter.
Lu Huailin glared at him, annoyed: "Wife, what did Deputy Battalion Commander Wang do to offend you?"
Gu Yihan laughed and shook her head, saying, "I'm afraid you'll throw your meat bun to a dog and never get it back."
"That's not the case. He hasn't left the army. If he can't pay it back, it can be deducted directly from his allowance."
Lu Huailin looked at his wife and explained.
Gu Yihan turned around and pouted; she didn't know about others.
If Deputy Battalion Commander Wang earns money to support two families, he'll be poor for life.
The family of three sat at the dining table eating dinner.
"Hao Hao, happy birthday."
After Gu Yihan finished speaking, she magically produced a ship model and looked at him tenderly.
When Hao Hao saw clearly what Gu Yihan was holding, he shouted happily.
"Ah... a ship model, Mom, give it to me quickly."
After speaking, he carefully took the model from Gu Yihan's hand and examined it repeatedly.
"Mom, how did you know I liked this model?"
Gu Yihan looked at Lu Huailin and said with a smile, "Of course it was your father who told your mother."
"Thank you, Dad."
Lu Huailin was a little embarrassed by Hao Hao's words, so he deliberately kept a straight face and said, "Let's eat first."
Hao Hao nodded his little head, eating steamed egg custard with a spoon in one hand and holding a ship model in the other.
His little eyes lit up as he put the steamed egg custard in his mouth.
She looked up at Gu Yihan and said, "Mom, when I'm in a good mood, even steamed eggs taste better."
Gu Yihan laughed, thinking to herself, "You're quite the picky eater. It's not because you're in a good mood that the steamed egg custard tastes so good."
He added a lot of water to his steamed egg custard.
