Chapter 35 Disfigurement
At 10 p.m., Gu Yihan wore a pair of 10-centimeter platform high heels.
Wearing a black tracksuit, she, who is 165 cm tall, now looks more like a tall teenager.
After disguising herself, she took a flashlight and arrived at the agreed-upon location ahead of time. She then tossed out 200 kilograms of corn stubble from her spatial storage and waited for the other party to arrive.
She was all alone, and a strange wind was blowing that night, making her heart pound. She kept muttering that there were no ghosts and that she believed in science.
The sparse noises frightened Gu Yihan even more, and she thought that if it didn't work out, she should just leave it as is.
"Little girl." Gu Yihan heard the voice of the old lady at the recycling station, shone her flashlight on the girl, and identified her.
She exhaled, pressed her hat down hard, lowered her head, and said in a deep voice, "Auntie?"
The woman at the recycling station heard a young boy's voice and asked, "Who are you?"
Gu Yihan deliberately lowered her voice and said, "Auntie, that's my sister. It's too late, so I didn't let her come out. This is 200 jin of corn stubble."
The woman walked up to the corn stubble, tested it with her hand, and said, "That's right, the corn stubble is of very good quality."
The old woman stepped out of the dilapidated house and whispered, "Come in, everyone. There's no problem with the food."
Gu Yihan watched as three young men entered the house, each carrying two loads of coal briquettes. The older woman handed Gu Yihan a coal stove.
Gu Yihan immediately directed them, saying, "Put it here for now. Our family is waiting at the alley entrance and will come to carry it away in a bit."
The woman hurriedly said, "Quickly put down the coal briquettes, carry the grain and go. It's too late, let's hurry back."
The older woman was also worried that Gu Yihan and her group might double-cross them, since they weren't very familiar with the area.
Several young men deftly carried out the coal briquettes and then hurried away with the grain on their shoulders.
After watching them leave, Gu Yihan immediately put the coal briquettes on the ground into her spatial storage and secretly looked around.
Finding no one around, she took off running, growing more and more frightened as she ran, feeling as if someone was following her.
She rushed home, locked the door, went inside, got into bed, and turned on the light in one swift motion, scaring her half to death. Ever since she transmigrated, she had become increasingly superstitious.
She needs to sleep with the lights on to feel safe.
Time flies, and Gu Yihan has become increasingly busy in the past six months, busy submitting articles to earn money and busy learning the knowledge of the third year of vocational school in advance.
I finally managed to steal a moment of leisure from my busy schedule and planned to go back to my dorm to rest at noon.
Just as Gu Yihan was about to push open the dormitory door, she was startled by An Ruo's sharp voice.
An Ruo cried and cursed, "An Duo, you bitch! If all the men in the world were dead, would you still want to steal my fiancé?"
An Duo also sobbed softly, feeling wronged: "Jinghe and I are in love. Your marriage with him was an arranged one."
An Ruo pointed her finger at An Duo's nose: "You shameless thing, Jing and your brother are avoiding you, can't you see?"
An Duo looked up at An Ruo with red eyes and said, "It's all because you kept pestering him. His family thought you two were a good match, so they didn't want to hurt me."
“Jinghe and I grew up together as childhood sweethearts. Why should he marry you just because you say you like him?”
Looking at the face that disgusted her, An Ruo raised her handbag and slammed it hard into An Duo's face.
Ando let out a pitiful scream.
Gu Yihan pushed open the door and saw that An Duo had a long scar on her face, which had been scratched by something.
Ando covered her face with her hands and frantically searched for a mirror. When she saw the scars on her face...
She screamed wildly, "My face! An Ruo, you've ruined my face! You'll die a horrible death!"
An Duo's anger surged, and she slapped An Ruo to the ground. An Duo then straddled An Ruo and used a mirror to scrub her face.
An Ruo was also terrified at this moment, covering her face with her hands and dodging repeatedly, saying, "I didn't mean to,"
Gu Yihan looked at the metal hair clip stuck in the backpack on the ground.
She immediately called out to Zhou Tingmei, who was still stunned, "What are you standing there for? Quickly pull her apart and get to the infirmary."
Zhou Tingmei had been watching the two argue from the sidelines, but she didn't expect it to get so serious. Hearing Gu Yihan's shout, the two of them quickly went to pull An Duo away.
At this moment, An Duo's strength was surprisingly great, and it took Gu Yihan and the other person a lot of effort to pull her away.
Gu Yihan shook An Duo vigorously: "An Duo, hurry up and go to the infirmary, otherwise it will affect the injury on your face."
As An Duo regained consciousness, she stared at An Ruo lying on the ground with a hateful gaze: "You wait, I won't let you get away with this."
An Duo pushed Gu Yihan and Zhou Tingmei aside and left the dormitory.
Zhou Tingmei said angrily, "What kind of person is she? We made her go to the infirmary and we offended her."
Gu Yihan didn't even look at An Ruo lying on the ground. She went straight to her bed and lay down. She was so tired and wanted to rest for a while.
After that, Gu Yihan never went back to the dormitory to rest at noon again. She only heard from her classmates that An Ruo and An Duo had been punished by the school in their records.
An Duo's face was still left with large scars, disfigured. An Ruo never came to school again after that day, and Gu Yihan just listened to these stories without paying much attention.
Gu Yihan spent the past month reading in the library. In early July 1967, it was almost time for Gu Yihan to report to the machinery factory.
In the library, Gu Yihan glanced at the time and realized it was already 8 p.m. Tomorrow was Saturday, and she planned to take her bedding home from the dormitory and stop living there.
Back in the dormitory, it seemed like their dormitory had bad feng shui. Of the six people who lived in the dormitory, only she and Zhou Tingmei were left.
After quickly packing up the bedding (there wasn't much left in the room), I picked up my luggage and opened the dormitory door, only to be startled by Zhou Tingmei standing there!
Zhou Tingmei looked at the luggage Gu Yihan was carrying and said, "Aren't you staying here?"
Gu Yihan had no desire to speak, and nodded to indicate that she wouldn't say anything more. Anyway, they already knew that she had a rented house outside, so there was no need to explain so much.
Gu Yihan quickly left the school. Packing her luggage took a while, and it was already 8:30 pm. She quickly took advantage of the night to put her luggage into her space.
She jogged to the tram stop, feeling like someone was following her, but when she looked back, there was no one there.
Thinking it was just her paranoia like last time, she slowed down her jogging pace. Suddenly, Gu Yihan felt someone tap her on the left side of her shoulder. She turned around, and everything went black before her eyes. She instantly lost consciousness.
