Chapter 52 Parents are siblings
Early in the morning, Gu Yihan rubbed her throbbing head, took out the alarm clock from her spatial storage, and saw that it was only five o'clock.
She didn't sleep well that night, having nightmares all night about being reported by someone.
Then, the scene of her being forced to hand over her space after her space was exposed, and being tortured, woke her up in fright.
Gu Yihan got dressed and went to the living room. She found it was drizzling outside, so she found a stool, opened the door, and quietly looked outside.
The light rain gradually intensified, with a sudden downpour followed by moderate rain until seven o'clock.
Too lazy to cook, she took out some steamed buns and milk from her storage space, ate a little something, and called out to Mao Mao, who was lying by the door, "Mao Mao, time to eat."
When Gu Yihan saw Mao Mao neatly bite his bowl and place it in front of her, she laughed: "I'll give you meat buns today, so you can have a treat."
Mao Mao wagged its tail happily and ate the steamed bun with gusto.
Gu Yihan turned around and went to the bedroom to get an umbrella. After Mao Mao finished eating, she opened the umbrella and said, "Let's go to work."
Upon reaching the office door, Gu Yihan folded her umbrella and opened the door to find several people already inside.
"I thought I was the first one here today, but I didn't expect you all to arrive so early," Gu Yihan asked curiously.
Walking to my desk, I glanced at Sister Zhuang across from me. Just by looking at her face, I knew she hadn't had a good rest.
Sister Li covered her mouth with her hand and yawned, saying, "Don't even mention it. I ran into Zhou Na when I went to the supply and marketing cooperative to buy things after get off work yesterday."
Then, with a hesitant expression, she said, "It's just that it looks a bit..." Sister Li couldn't finish her sentence.
Gu Yihan lowered her head and pretended to pack her things without replying.
Sister Zhang knew more than they did, and whispered, "It was Wang Xiang's mother who reported it. Originally, nothing was wrong, and Director Li's wife testified in person."
Gu Yihan was extremely surprised and looked at them hesitantly: "She can only be good if Director Li is good, how could this be...? What good would it do to treat her like this?"
Sister Li gasped, "Then Zhou Na has been wronged and has nowhere to seek justice?"
Sister Zhuang was clearly not in good spirits today, and she said sarcastically, "In this world, there's nowhere to reason with people. Director Li was just blocking their way."
"I was about to get married to Zhou Na, but how did it all happen that Director Li's wife stole the spotlight from me?"
After saying that, he gave Gu Yihan a meaningful look.
Gu Yihan felt uneasy under her gaze. What did this have to do with her? Was she crazy?
Sister Li sighed: "Then what about Zhou Na..."
"Crunch."
Zhou Tingmei and Liu Yang walked in one after the other.
The rest of her words were stuck in Li Jie's throat; she didn't say anything more, after all, she didn't know these two people very well.
When Zhou Tingmei noticed everyone looking at her, she touched her face and asked, "What's wrong? Do you think I look really good today?"
Sister Li smiled awkwardly: "Yes, this lipstick really suits your skin tone."
Gu Yihan saw Liu Yang roll his eyes from her direction, then walk past Zhou Tingmei to her workstation.
Gu Yihan slightly curled her lips, clearly in a much better mood.
Zhou Tingmei straightened her back and didn't reply to Sister Li. She went back to her seat, took out a mirror, and looked at her face beautifully.
She is no longer that ignorant country bumpkin who just came from the countryside.
"Xiao Yang, how old is your child?" Sister Li asked inquiringly.
Liu Yang said cheerfully, "Sister Li, I'm not married yet."
Gu Yihan laughed, while Sister Li looked embarrassed: "Hehe, it's good that you're not married yet, you can still enjoy a few more years of freedom, otherwise the relationship between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law would give you a lot of headaches."
Liu Yang looked puzzled and said, "Is it really that hard for a mother-in-law and daughter-in-law to get along?"
Seeing his curious expression, Sister Li chuckled dryly and said, "Then go home and observe how your mother and grandmother get along, and you'll know."
Liu Yang looked even more bewildered: "My grandma is so good to my mom. How could she not be good to her own daughter?"
Sister Li blurted out, "Is your dad a live-in son-in-law?"
Liu Yang stammered, "No... my dad married my mom, I took my dad's surname, I'm not a son-in-law who lives with his wife's family."
Liu Yang looked at everyone in the room who were staring at him and felt a little embarrassed: "Um... my family situation is different."
Zhou Tingmei sneered, "How could it be different? You can't exactly tell us that our parents are siblings and that they got married, can you?"
Liu Yang chuckled and said, "Comrade Zhou really knows how to talk. My parents really are siblings."
The room fell silent; everyone was wondering whether it was real or fake.
Zhou Tingmei sneered, "If you're going to lie, at least come up with a better excuse. Brother and sister getting married?"
Seeing Zhou Tingmei's expression, Liu Yang's face also turned cold: "What's wrong, Comrade Zhou? Who said that siblings can't marry? Did I say that my parents are siblings?"
"Even tofu has a brain, but Comrade Zhou's brain is even less than tofu's."
Liu Yang didn't implicate anyone else: "Since you're all so interested in my parents, I'll explain it to you."
“My biological grandmother gave birth to my father and passed away. My current grandmother is my mother’s biological mother. My mother married my father.”
Liu Yang also joked, "Sister Li, you don't see that kind of mother-in-law/daughter-in-law relationship in my family. My grandma and maternal grandma are the same person."
"There's no such thing as a maternal family outside. How can I go out and come home to see my dad and call him uncle?"
Sister Zhang chuckled: "Little Liu, your family is really harmonious. You're not married yet, right? I have a relative who would be a perfect match for you."
Sister Li chuckled and said, "I'll also inquire about this pretty woman."
Seeing everyone in the office vying to introduce potential partners to Liu Yang, Zhou Tingmei retorted angrily, "Oh? Do you even need to look? Don't we already have an unmarried person here?"
Sister Zhuang looked up at Zhou Tingmei, who hadn't stopped causing trouble since she came to the accounting office.
She laughed and said, "Haven't you heard that Deputy Factory Director Shen is temporarily taking over as factory director?"
Zhou Tingmei looked at Gu Yihan and said in a shrill voice, "This has nothing to do with Comrade Gu, does it?"
Gu Yihan was annoyed to see everyone in the office staring at her. What did it have to do with her? Did she dig up Zhou Tingmei's ancestral graves in her past life?
Gu Yihan said coldly, "I'm not as shameless as you. You wouldn't do anything that involves other people."
Zhou Tingmei blushed with anger and said, "Isn't Liu Yang good enough? I'm just thinking of you, after all, we're in the same office."
"Don't let the good stuff go to outsiders. Such a good person, and you still don't like him? You're not trying to climb the social ladder, are you?"
Liu Yang awkwardly replied, "Don't drag me into this, it has nothing to do with me."
Although he also liked Gu Yihan quite a bit—she was beautiful and had a decent salary—he knew before coming here that the girl had caught the eye of Deputy Factory Director Shen's family.
Gu Yihan slowly uttered, "No matter how high the branch, it can't be higher than you. Marrying a 40-year-old flower."
Sister Li exclaimed in surprise and quickly covered her mouth.
When Zhou Tingmei's mask was ripped off, her eyes instantly reddened. Before running out crying, she didn't forget to say fiercely, "I won't let you get away with this."
