Chapter 200 The Thief

Chapter 200 The Thief

Gu Yihan's gaze fell on a middle-aged woman dressed in homespun cloth across the corridor.

She looked serious, her back straight, and her hand tightly gripped the handbag on her knee.

Gu Yihan didn't think much of it, assuming that the other person was nervous because it was their first time taking a train.

Until she spotted the honest-looking young man in a blue shirt next to her.

As if sensing her nervousness, he turned his head and whispered something from time to time.

The two chatted all the way, and the middle-aged woman's lips curled up slightly, clearly pleased by what the other person had said.

The hand gripping the handbag slowly loosened, causing the handbag to fall between the two of them from their knees.

Suddenly, Gu Yihan's pupils contracted sharply.

From my position, I could just see the gap between the middle-aged woman and the young man.

She also glanced at the people sitting opposite them, but could only see the backs of their heads.

I wonder if they noticed the young man's subtle actions.

Seeing that Gu Yihan's complexion was not good, Secretary Jiang asked with concern, "Director Gu, are you not feeling well?"

Gu Yihan turned her gaze away and looked at Secretary Jiang.

She discovered that the seemingly honest young man was actually a thief, and she didn't know whether she should tell him.

After all, I don't know if this thief is part of a gang, and if I don't handle it properly...

Later, if the thief gang retaliates, there will be no one to turn to for help.

Gu Yihan had been mentally preparing for a long time.

Considering how nervous the middle-aged woman was about her handbag at first, it probably contained something she considered very important.

Immediately, she took out a pen and paper from her handbag, wrote a few words on it, and handed it to Secretary Jiang.

Upon seeing Gu Yihan's actions, Cheng Bo sneered, "What, do you two have some shady secret that you're afraid I'll find out!"

Secretary Jiang gave Cheng Chengbo a cold look and said, "If you can't speak, then don't speak. Nobody will think you're mute!"

After saying that, he reached out and took the note that Gu Yihan handed him.

The sign read: "The man in the blue shirt in the aisle near your seats is a thief."

Secretary Jiang was about to turn her head to confirm when Gu Yihan whispered, "Don't look!"

Secretary Jiang didn't know how Gu Yihan knew the other person was a thief. They had known each other for so long, and she knew that Gu Yihan wasn't the kind of unreliable person.

Seeing this, Cheng Bo frowned and said irritably, "Officer Gu, what's wrong with you?"

Secretary Jiang stuffed the note into her pocket, patted Cheng Bo's arm, and called out, "Excuse me, I need to use the restroom."

Cheng Bo turned sideways to make room for Secretary Jiang to move around.

He muttered, "You didn't drink much water. Why do you keep going to the toilet?"

Secretary Jiang glanced at him, stood up, stretched out her legs and stepped over, glancing at the thief Gu Yihan had mentioned before she left.

Gu Yihan watched Secretary Jiang's departing figure, her heart pounding, unsure if she had done the right thing.

About ten minutes later

Secretary Jiang returned slowly, patted Cheng Bo on the shoulder, and gestured for him to get up.

"Why did it take so long? Was there a long line at the restroom?" Cheng Bo asked, puzzled.

After Secretary Jiang returned to her seat, she glared at Cheng Bo and said, "If you're so curious, go and take a look for yourself!"

Upon hearing this, Cheng Bo's face turned cold. He truly had no idea where he had offended Secretary Jiang.

Since Hu Shan married him, it was obvious that their relationship was getting worse and worse.

Gu Yihan looked at Secretary Jiang, whose expression was normal, and did not ask him anything.

After all, she herself didn't dare to expose herself; this wasn't the era of later times where surveillance cameras were everywhere.

This station is the provincial capital station, and the noisy crowd gradually stood up.

Gu Yihan made no move, but out of the corner of her eye she saw the young man forcefully swipe at the middle-aged woman's handbag.

Suddenly, her view was blocked by two tall men.

"What are you doing?" the young man's sharp voice rang out.

He never expected that after so much preparation, he would succeed so soon, only to have two meddlesome people suddenly appear.

The plainclothes police officer gripped the man's hand tightly and, without saying a word, pulled him out of his seat.

Another plainclothes police officer immediately stepped forward, grabbed the young man's hand holding the knife, and shouted sternly, "Take it out."

"What do you want me to take?" The young man asked nervously, sweat beading on his forehead.

The middle-aged woman sitting next to the young man was trembling with fear.

Her eyes darted around, and she clutched her handbag tightly, trying to make herself invisible.

Ignoring the young man's angry shouts, the train police officer reached out and gagged him, then tied him up.

Upon seeing this scene, the people in the carriage immediately began checking their belongings.

"I lost 10 yuan," a voice rang out.

Instantly, the carriage turned into a bustling market, filled with noise and shouts as everyone claimed they had lost money.

One of the train police officers glanced at the middle-aged woman in the seat and said coldly, "Comrade Zhang Xiaoman, come with us!"

The middle-aged woman was so frightened that she collapsed to the ground, begging for mercy: "Please let me go."

The train police officer said coldly, "Didn't you think about the consequences when you did it?"

Upon hearing this, the middle-aged woman suppressed her fear and stood up abruptly.

She tossed her handbag into the air and threw it at another police officer, yelling, "Here's your 5,000 yuan back!"

The large black pieces scattered like snowflakes.

When the passengers in the carriage saw the large black object floating in the air, they all stood up, pushing and shoving to grab it.

Upon seeing this, the two train police officers maintained order while shouting sternly, "Sit down, this is stolen money."

Gu Yihan was stunned, staring at the chaotic scene before her. No matter how the two train police officers shouted, it was to no avail.

The passengers were so excited by the amount of money that their eyes turned red, and they no longer cared what the train police officer was saying.

It wasn't until the train stopped at the station that more than a dozen train police officers rushed into the carriage and forcibly stopped the chaotic passengers, gradually calming things down.

At this moment, Zhang Xiaoman, a middle-aged woman who had taken advantage of the chaos to escape, was also apprehended by the train police.

Provincial Capital Railway Station

Railway Police Office

The train police took Gu Yihan, Secretary Jiang, and Cheng Bo to the interrogation room and asked them to wait a while.

"What's going on?" Gu Yihan tugged at Secretary Jiang's sleeve and whispered.

Upon hearing this, Secretary Jiang twitched the corner of her mouth and said, "I don't know either."

A short while later,

A middle-aged railway police officer walked into the interrogation room and looked sharply at Secretary Jiang: "How did you know that person was a thief?"

Secretary Jiang glanced at Gu Yihan, who was looking down and pretending to be a quail, and said with a smirk, "I guessed."

The middle-aged train police officer slammed his hand on the table, staring intently at Secretary Jiang: "You dare to make wild guesses and then tell the flight attendants that you saw a gang of thieves committing a crime?"

Secretary Jiang stared blankly at the middle-aged police officer and retorted, "Is it wrong to eliminate any potential danger for the country?"

The middle-aged train police officer narrowed his eyes slightly; if they hadn't already been keeping an eye on this theft gang long ago...

He even suspected that Secretary Jiang might have retaliated arbitrarily because of a dispute over the distribution of spoils.

He scoffed, "I hope you're not lying!"

"What evidence do you have to prove that I'm not telling the truth?" Secretary Jiang retorted sarcastically, not one to tolerate the middle-aged police officer.
