Chapter 283 People Who Don't Care About Her
On the other side
When Gu Yihan got home, she first went to check on her grandmother's bedroom, but didn't see her.
I walked into the living room, but still didn't see her. After thinking for a moment, I assumed she had gone to pick up Hao Hao from daycare.
I casually placed my handbag on the sofa.
...
In the kitchen
The clay pot on the coal stove was bubbling away, emitting an enticing aroma.
Lu Huailin's tall figure looked particularly comical in her small homespun apron.
Gu Yihan suppressed a laugh and walked to his side.
"Huailin, what delicious food did you make? It smells so good!"
Upon hearing this, Lu Huailin turned his head to look at his wife and chuckled, saying, "Clear chicken soup."
Upon hearing this, Gu Yihan's lips curved into a beautiful smile.
She muttered something before bed on the weekend, saying she wanted chicken soup but was too lazy to make it.
Lu Huailin made arrangements for today; it feels so good to be cared for by someone all the time.
Thinking of this, she tiptoed and gave Lu Huailin a quick kiss on the cheek.
With a smile in her eyes, she said, "Thank you, my dear husband."
Upon hearing this, Lu Huailin paused for a moment, holding the spatula, and looked up at his wife, whose eyes crinkled with joy.
She sighed, hoping that Grandma Gu would still be so happy after she knew she had chased her away.
A short while
He Shengli, holding Hao Hao's hand, was now in the yard facing Lu Huailin and Gu Yihan in the kitchen.
He shouted loudly, "Commander, sister-in-law, I've brought Hao Hao back!"
Gu Yihan heard He Shengli's voice, smiled and walked out of the kitchen, only to find that there were only the two of them, one adult and one child, in the yard.
A hint of doubt flashed in his eyes as he asked, "Haohao, why didn't your wife come back with you?"
Hao Hao ran to Gu Yihan's side and tugged at her finger.
She raised her little head and blinked her big eyes at her.
In a childish voice, she asked, "Why did you come back with me, Madam?"
He Shengli glanced at Gu Yihan's tightly furrowed brows, a hint of guilt flashing in his eyes.
Worried that she would ask him questions, he quickly said goodbye: "Sister-in-law, Yan Xin is still waiting at the door, so I'll be going now!"
After saying that, he disappeared in a flash without waiting for Gu Yihan's reply!
Gu Yihan smiled and shook her head.
She squatted down, pinched Hao Hao's little cheek, and said with a smile, "Hao Hao, didn't Madam pick you up?"
Lu Huailin walked to his wife's side, carrying the freshly stir-fried dish in one hand and a steamed bun in the other.
He interrupted, saying, "Wife, let's eat first!"
"We'll talk about the milk later."
Upon hearing this, Hu Yihan slowly stood up and thoughtfully watched Lu Huailin's departing figure.
The family of three finished their meal quietly, and Gu Yihan led Hao Hao back to the bedroom.
I quickly washed his face and little feet.
She patted his bottom and said, "Sit down first, Mom will get you a comic book."
Hao Hao sat on the bed, clapping his hands and giggling.
Lu Huailin pushed open the bedroom door and saw his wife lying on her side on the bed, looking at Hao Hao.
He strode over and sat on the bed.
After a moment's hesitation, he said, "Wife, Grandma went to Qin Shou's house."
Gu Yihan was stunned for a moment upon hearing this, then casually uttered an "Oh".
What does it matter to me where Grandma Gu wants to go?
She has figured it out: she doesn't care about those who don't care about her.
Lu Huailin noticed his wife's indifferent attitude.
A sense of panic welled up inside me. Was he angry?
He quickly got into bed, turned her over, and held her tightly in his arms.
He asked cautiously, "Wife, are you angry?"
Gu Yihan chuckled softly, raising her eyes to look directly into Lu Huailin's eyes.
He shook his head and said, "Grandma is an adult; it's her freedom to go wherever she wants!"
After hearing his wife's words, Lu Huailin realized that she had misunderstood.
They thought that Grandma Gu wanted to go to Qin Shou's house on her own.
He bent down and kissed his wife's eyebrows and eyes, then whispered in her ear, "Wife, I'm the one who chased Grandma away."
"She wants Gu Meng to come back, but I disagree!"
Gu Yihan pushed Lu Huailin away, looked at him with amusement, and reached out to smooth his furrowed brows.
"Aren't you angry?"
Upon hearing this, Gu Yihan chuckled softly, "Why are you angry?"
"I'll only be angry if you listen to Grandma Gu and pull some strings to release Gu Meng!"
Hao Hao looked up at his parents, who were hugging each other, and his little brows furrowed slightly.
He looked exactly like Lu Huailin.
She stood up, walked over, and squeezed herself between Gu Yihan and Lu Huailin.
He raised his head and looked at Lu Huailin with his round, dark eyes, the meaning of which was clear: he also needed a hug.
Lu Huailin felt a warmth in his heart and stretched out his long arm to hug the mother and son together.
Gu Yihan couldn't help but laugh when she thought about Grandma Gu's attitude towards her these past few days.
He then added, "I already know why she was throwing a tantrum!"
Lu Huailin looked at his wife's fair face with heartache, knowing that she must be feeling bad.
"Wife, from now on you'll have me and Hao Hao, we'll be the closest of family!"
Upon hearing this, Gu Yihan looked down at Hao Hao in her arms and affectionately kissed his forehead.
He nodded and said, "Give her some living expenses every month from now on, as a way of repaying the debt of raising her!"
The next day
Hu Shan paced anxiously back and forth in front of the accounting office, waiting for Gu Yihan.
"Xiao Shan, you're making me dizzy!" Zhang Limin cried out, clutching her head.
Upon hearing this, Wang Guixiang glanced at her and said irritably, "If you don't look at her, won't you stop feeling dizzy?"
"You can't control your curiosity, and you blame others!"
Hu Shan was in no mood to pay attention to Zhang Limin at the moment, and paced back and forth with her head down.
Gu Yihan looked at Hu Shan pacing at the door from afar and asked suspiciously, "Sister Shan, what's wrong with you?"
Upon hearing this, Hu Shan suddenly raised her head and took three steps at a time to walk up to Gu Yihan.
He grabbed her arm and led her to a secluded spot.
As they walked, she asked, "Xiaohan, what happened to Grandma Gu?"
"Why is she back in the tenement again?"
Gu Yihan stared at Hu Shan's gritted teeth.
He couldn't help but laugh and explained, "She wanted to go back to the tenement, and there was nothing I could do!"
Hu Shan remembered that Grandma Gu had stopped her this morning.
She was repeatedly told to tell Gu Yihan about buying snacks.
He reached out and poked her arm hard.
He said with exasperation, "Do you know that everyone in the tenement says you're heartless?"
"Disregarding blood ties, they sent their own sister to jail!"
"And you said..."
Gu Yihan patted Hu Shan's arm, interrupting her: "Sister Shan, it's not worth getting angry over those unimportant people!"
Seeing that Gu Yihan showed no emotional fluctuation after being betrayed by Grandma Gu, Hu Shan suddenly admired her.
Even though I'm an outsider, I'm furious.
She then let out a long sigh of relief: "Grandma Gu said she wants to eat chicken cake."
Upon hearing this, Gu Yihan's smile gradually faded.
A cold glint flashed in her eyes: "Sister Shan, you don't need to pay any attention to her."
