Chapter 10 Wild Boar
Gu Yihan and Gu Hao are on winter vacation. Soon it will be the Little New Year, and the family will start preparing for the New Year.
Grandma Gu killed the hen that wasn't laying eggs. I saw her throw the chicken intestines and feathers together.
Gu Yihan ran over: "Grandma, don't we want these chicken intestines anymore?"
"You can't eat that stuff," Grandma Gu said as she cleaned the chicken.
Gu Yihan ran up to her grandfather and said in a spoiled tone, "Grandpa, can you make me a fish trap?"
Grandpa Gu saw that his little granddaughter rarely wanted something, so he said, "Okay, I'll knit you a few more."
Watching his grandfather skillfully weave a fish basket, he grabbed the fish trap his grandfather had made and ran to find Gu Hao: "Big brother, let's go fishing!"
Gu Hao shook his head at his cousin and said, "We can't catch them. It's too cold at this time of year to go into the river to catch fish."
Gu Yihan showed the fish trap to Gu Hao, saying, "Use this to catch fish. Big brother, put the chicken intestines that Grandma killed in here, and let's go catch fish together."
Unable to resist Gu Yihan's persistent nagging, Gu Hao could only helplessly say, "Fine, I'll go with you, but you can't wander off."
She happily went to the river with her cousin to put the fish trap into the water.
Gu Yihan said, "Brother, let's not wait here. Let's go for a walk at the foot of the mountain. I saw a trap over there the other day, but I don't know who dug it."
Gu Hao asked in surprise, "A trap?"
Gu Yihan nodded. Could she really say that she had secretly dug it up bit by bit using the small shovel in her space?
Once, she encountered a wild boar while hiking in the mountains, which terrified her. In her haste, she stored the wild boar in her spatial dimension and then quickly killed it with her consciousness.
Gu Hao was also intrigued: "Shall we go take a look together?"
She quickly added, "Let's go."
Gu Hao walked leisurely. There was nothing he could do; Gu Yihan's legs were too short, and she couldn't walk fast. Gu Hao wanted to carry her, but she refused.
After walking for a while, they were almost at the trap when Gu Yihan quickly used her mind to send the wild boar into the trap.
The two walked to the edge of the trap.
"Look, there's a wild boar!" Gu Yihan said, feigning surprise as she looked at Gu Hao.
Gu Hao looked at the pitifully shallow trap in surprise and said, "There really are wild boars here."
Gu Hao cautiously poked the wild boar's body with a branch. Seeing that the boar didn't move, he went down and touched its body. He found it was still warm.
He said to Gu Yihan, "Looks like he just died. We really got lucky."
Gu Yihan secretly rolled her eyes. Wasn't it still warm? It had just been moved out of the space.
Gu Hao found a lot of dry branches nearby and placed them on top of the trap until the wild boar was no longer visible and all that could be seen from a distance was a tall pile of dry branches.
Gu Haoqian repeatedly instructed Gu Yihan: "You wait here. I'll run home to find Dad and Second Uncle. If anyone sees you, just tell them you're waiting here for me to come home and get the cart to fetch firewood, okay?"
Gu Yihan said helplessly, "I know, you've said it several times, I've remembered it."
Gu Hao quickly ran towards home.
When I got home, I saw my grandma tidying up the yard. "Grandma, are Dad and Uncle home?"
Grandma Gu said, "They're all lying at home, aren't they? Didn't Hanhan go out with you? Why are you the only one back?"
Gu Hao said breathlessly, "She's watching the wild boars on the mountain. Hurry up and have my dad and second uncle pull the cart to bring them back!"
Grandma Gu thought she had misheard: "What? Wild boar?"
Gu Hao paused for a moment and said, "Yes, a dead wild boar."
Grandma Gu immediately called out from the yard, "Eldest son, second son, come out quickly!"
When Gu Laoda and Gu Laoer heard their mother calling them, they said, "Mom, what's wrong!"
Grandma Gu was extremely anxious: "Quick, quick, get the cart on and go pick up Hanhan." She was so worried.
This startled Uncle Gu: "What happened? Has something happened to Hanhan?"
Gu Hao was speechless and could only say, "Nothing happened. We found a wounded wild boar that had just died. I asked Hanhan to wait there."
Brother Gu and Brother Gu's second brother exchanged a glance and quickly prepared to push the cart up the mountain with Gu Hao.
Gu Hao saw that his grandmother was also about to leave, so he quickly pushed her home: "Grandma, you wait at home. It's not deep in the mountains, it's at the foot of the mountain. Otherwise, I wouldn't dare leave Hanhan there."
Grandma Gu had no choice but to wait anxiously at home.
When Gu Laoda and Gu Laoer pulled the cart out, the villagers saw them and asked what they were doing.
Gu Hao chuckled and said, "My cousin and I were collecting matches on the mountain. We collected so many that she got tired and refused to come down the mountain by herself. She insisted that her family come and get her."
One of the older women said, "Wow, your family really dotes on this little girl."
Gu Hao and his two companions didn't want to argue with the old woman, so they just said, "We have to leave quickly, or the child will get impatient."
Liu Zhaodi looked at the group and said, "Pah. Do you really think you're rich young ladies? You're just money-losing goods waiting to be married off."
Another older woman said, "You still think this is all your family? You treat your daughter like she's not human. Do you expect her to be filial to you in the future?"
Liu Zhaodi looked at the aunt with disdain: "Your family treats you well, but we haven't seen you be very filial to your mother. They raised a thankless ingrate like you for nothing. If I were your mother, I would be disgusted."
The older woman grabbed Liu Zhaodi by the hair and said, "I'll tear your mouth apart."
Not to be outdone, Liu Zhaodi deliberately punched the older woman in the chest, and the onlookers quickly pulled the two apart.
