Chapter 386 Repairing Feelings
When Gu Yihan came home from get off work, she saw a strange woman efficiently preparing dinner in the kitchen.
I guessed that she was the Lai Di that Lu Huailin had mentioned.
She walked in with a smile: "Sister Lai, from now on you only need to take care of my mom, you don't need to help with cooking."
Lai Di was startled by the sudden sound and quickly turned to look at Gu Yihan.
He explained in a low voice, "I'm from the countryside, and I can't stand staying at home, so I thought I'd take over the cooking work as well."

With room and board provided, plus a monthly allowance of thirty yuan, this was such a good job that Lai Di wished he could work there for the rest of his life.

Lu Huailin sat on the bed, holding his wife tightly in his arms.
He smiled and said ingratiatingly, "Wife, from now on, let Brother Lai do all of Mom's things."
"Just go to work as usual, and chat with your wife in your spare time."

Gu Yihan glanced at him and nodded.

Until the day before the Chinese New Year holiday
Just before leaving get off work, Zhang Yue stopped Gu Yihan and Qin He, who had packed their things and were preparing to go home for the Chinese New Year.
"Xiao Han, Sister Qin, I'm getting married on the sixth day of the Lunar New Year."
Upon hearing this, Gu Yihan and Qin He exchanged a glance and said in unison, "Congratulations."
Zhang Yue twitched the corners of her mouth, pursed her lips, and nodded without finishing her sentence.
He turned around and left immediately.
This left Gu Yihan and Qin He completely bewildered.
"Zhang Yue told us she's getting married on the sixth day of the Lunar New Year, but she didn't say we should come to share in the joy. Does that mean we don't need to go?"
Gu Yihan glanced at Qin He and shook her head, saying, "I don't know, she didn't say where she wanted to marry!"
Since Zhang Yue didn't say anything, Gu Yihan wasn't one to rush to give wedding gifts.
When Gu Yihan arrived home, she saw Hao Hao practicing military boxing in the yard with great skill.
He asked with a smile, "Where's your dad?"
The little boy, Hao Hao, said while practicing his boxing seriously, "Dad is calling Grandpa."
Looking at Hao Hao's earnest boxing, Gu Yihan couldn't help but want to go over and pinch his cheek.
When Hao Hao saw Gu Yihan walking towards him, he knew that his mother wanted to pinch his cheeks again.
Startled, she immediately cried out, "Mom, don't interrupt my exercise!"

He turned a corner and went straight into the living room, where he saw Lu Huailin just hang up the phone.
With a smile, he asked, "Is Dad coming to our house for Chinese New Year tomorrow?"
Lu Huailin sighed and shook his head, saying, "He's not coming. He said seeing Mom gives him a headache."
Gu Yihan: "..."
At this moment, Lu's mother was shouting "Ah ah ah..." from inside the bedroom.
Gu Yihan glanced at Lu Huailin and saw him rubbing his temples in frustration.
A slight smile involuntarily crept onto his lips.
Lu's mother had been mistreated by Lu's older brother and Fang Yi for several months. Her body, which had suffered a stroke, did not receive adequate nutrition, and instead of getting better, it became more serious.

He coaxed her gently, "Honey, sleep a little longer, it's still a long way from dawn!"
Gu Yihan mumbled an "Mmm" in her sleep, then turned over and fell into a deep sleep again.
Early the next morning
"Bang, bang, bang."
A series of urgent knocks woke Gu Yihan up again.
She sat up abruptly in anger. She had finally gotten a day off for the Lunar New Year and wanted to sleep until she naturally woke up.
The result was either firecrackers going off in the middle of the night or someone banging loudly on the door in the morning.
Lu Huailin also woke up. He opened his eyes and saw Gu Yihan sitting on the bed, sulking. He quickly sat up and pulled her into his arms.
He gritted his teeth in anger: "You go back to sleep. I'm going downstairs to see which idiot is knocking on the door so early in the morning and disturbing my wife's sleep."
"Don't they know that disturbing someone's sleep will be punished by heaven?"
Without waiting for Gu Yihan's reply, he quickly put on his clothes and went downstairs.
