Chapter 188 The Arrival of Mother Lu

Chapter 188 The Arrival of Mother Lu

While the little one was asleep, Grandma Gu efficiently prepared the chicken and pork that her granddaughter had bought yesterday.

She quietly opened the bedroom door and saw that Hao Hao had already woken up, waving his little hands in the air and playing with the air.

Smiling, she walked to the bedside and changed his diaper. She bent down, picked up the little guy, and said with a smile, "Haohao, you're such a good boy. Let's go out for some fresh air."

At the entrance of the courtyard

Grandma Gu sat at the doorway chatting with her neighbors.

"Grandma Wang, do you need more firewood?"

The little boy, dressed in tattered clothes, stood not far away and called out softly.

Deputy Battalion Commander Wang's mother said, "Tiedan, we have enough firewood at home, so we don't need any more for the next few days."

Grandma Gu asked in surprise, "You've switched to a wood-fired stove?"

Deputy Battalion Commander Wang's mother glanced smugly at Grandma Gu: "It's all because of my daughter-in-law. She feels nauseous and vomits at the smell of a coal stove, so we can only burn firewood."

She even used her connections to ask, and it turns out that Zhang Xia is carrying a boy.

Grandma Gu didn't notice her tone; her gaze remained fixed on Tie Dan, who was not far away. Seeing his thin figure, she felt a pang of sympathy.

She waved to him.

Tie Dan's eyes lit up, and his thin frame, carrying tree branches on his back, walked to Grandma Gu's side: "Grandma, do you need firewood? It's not expensive!"

Grandma Gu smiled and took out a dime from her pocket, handing it to him: "Just help Grandma put the firewood inside on the left side of the door."

Tie Dan reached out and took the one cent, walked into the courtyard, his eyes were restrained and he didn't look around. He put down his things and immediately came out.

Before leaving, he bowed deeply to Grandma Gu and said, "Grandma, you gave me too much money. I'll bring you firewood again tomorrow."

Grandma Gu smiled and nodded, watching the little guy sitting on her lap staring curiously at Tiedan.

Aunt Chen asked suspiciously, "Did you take pity on Tie Dan and deliberately help him out?"

Grandma Gu shook her head and said, "No, Xiaohan bought a chicken. Chicken cooked on a coal stove doesn't taste as good as chicken cooked on a wood-fired stove."

Deputy Battalion Commander Wang's mother sighed, "Poor Tie Dan, his biological mother is gone, and his stepmother only knows how to dress up in fancy clothes."

Grandma Gu stroked the little guy's hair in her arms and asked, "Doesn't Tiedan's dad care?"

Aunt Chen couldn't help but laugh: "Aunt Gu, don't be fooled by Tie Dan's appearance. Deputy Nutritionist Ding treats him very well. That kid loves money."

Grandma Gu was stunned when she heard this: "Loves money?"

Deputy Battalion Commander Wang's mother smiled and nodded, adding, "I heard that Deputy Battalion Commander Ding broke his broom to stop him from going up the mountain to collect things to sell."

"Aunt Lu, this is Commander Lu's home."

Grandma Gu, Deputy Battalion Commander Wang's mother, and Aunt Chen were startled by the sudden noise.

Everyone looked in the direction of the sound and were quite surprised to see Lu's mother wearing a fashionable coat.

Because military wives of that age in the family compound don't dress this fashionably.

Aunt Chen had met Lu's mother before. When Lu Huailin was injured on his first mission, she came to Kuncheng to take care of him for two days.

She quickly stood up and said with a smile, "Young lady, you've come to see your grandson?"

Lu's mother did not respond to Aunt Chen; instead, she turned her gaze to Grandma Gu: "Are you Gu Yihan's grandmother?"

She didn't know that Grandma Gu lived at her youngest son's house before she arrived.

It wasn't until I entered the family compound and overheard other military wives whispering that I realized she had moved in.

Grandma Gu smiled and nodded, then stood up with Lu Chenhao in her arms: "My dear in-law, you must be exhausted from the train journey. Come inside and rest for a while."

Instead of responding to Grandma Gu's words, Lu's mother asked, "How long have you been staying?"

Aunt Chen and Deputy Battalion Commander Wang's mother exchanged a worried glance.

Grandma Gu didn't seem to think anything of it, and said with a smile, "It's been over a year."

Great, that's really great.

His own parents didn't care about him and instead raised an outsider. It's like he raised a son for someone else's sake.

Although Lu's mother was angry, she didn't show it since they were in public.

Her gaze fell on the little grandson in Grandma Gu's arms. He looked a lot like Lu Huailin when he was a child, and was extremely cute with his chubby face.

She smiled and said, "This must be Hao Hao. Let Grandma hold him."

The little guy is already eight months old, his big eyes are full of curiosity, and when he saw Lu's mother trying to hold him, he immediately turned his head away.

Lu's mother's smile froze on her face. Looking at her grandson, who had his back to her, a hint of displeasure flashed in her eyes.

As expected, even if you have blood ties, animals that aren't raised by your side aren't close.

Grandma Gu hadn't expected Hao Hao to react this way. She gave an awkward laugh and said, "In-law, let's go home first."

After saying that, he quickly led Lu's mother into the courtyard.

Although there were a few chickens feeding at the entrance, the yard was clean and tidy with no unpleasant smell, which made Lu's mother very satisfied.

In the living room

Mrs. Lu glanced at Grandma Gu sitting at the dining table and said coldly, "How long do you plan to stay at my son's house, in-laws?"

Grandma Gu's body suddenly stiffened, and she instinctively hugged her little grandson tightly.

After feeling uncomfortable, the little guy stretched out his arm and called out to Lu's mother, "Let's go."

Upon hearing this, Lu's mother flew into a rage and snapped, "Shut up!"

The little guy was startled by Lu's mother's voice and stared at her blankly.

Grandma Gu quickly looked down at the little guy, patted his head, and said, "Touching his fur won't scare you."

The moment he looked up, his face turned cold, and he said in a cold voice, "Mother-in-law, you've gone too far."

"He's so young and already knows how to disobey his elders. What will he be like when he grows up?" Mrs. Lu said coldly, looking at her grandson.

Grandma Gu's chest heaved with anger at Lu's mother's words. She never expected that Lu's mother would make such a fuss about such a young child.

As if he knew that his mother was talking about him, the little guy pouted and started to cry.

Lu Huailin had just stepped into the yard when he heard his son crying.

He quickly walked into the living room, glanced at Lu's mother, and looked at his son who was crying.

When the little guy saw him, he opened his arms and called out, "Aba, Aba."

Lu Huailin was heartbroken and immediately went forward to hug his son.

The little guy wrapped one arm around his neck and pointed at his mother with the other, babbling and complaining.

Grandma Gu wiped away her tears and said softly to Lu Huailin, "Little Lu, Grandma will buy a train ticket to go back to our hometown tomorrow."

Lu's mother looked at Grandma Gu's tactic of feigning retreat with a sarcastic expression.

He sneered, "What? You expect my son to support you for the rest of your life?"

Lu Huailin ignored his mother.

He comforted Grandma Gu, saying, "Grandma, you can't say things like that again. What will Hao Hao do if he misses you after you leave?"

After saying that, he handed the little one in his arms to Grandma Gu.

Lu's mother was furious at her youngest son's indifferent attitude.

He blurted out without thinking, "Lu Huailin, how can you treat your parents like this? Aren't you afraid of being struck by lightning!"

Without saying a word, Lu Huailin grabbed his mother's arm and walked straight to the gate of the courtyard. He opened the military jeep and drove out of the family compound.

Completely bewildered by his series of actions, Lu's mother angrily demanded, "Where are you sending me?"

Lu Huailin glanced at his mother and said coldly, "Guesthouse."

"I'm not going!" Lu's mother screamed.

If the people in the Beijing compound knew that her son wouldn't even let her stay at his home in Kunming, they would laugh at her to death.

Lu Huailin didn't say a word. When they arrived at the guesthouse, he opened a room for his mother and put her luggage inside.

Looking at her coldly, he said, "Mom, Dad said that if you appear in front of Gu Yihan, he will immediately file for divorce."

Lu's mother looked at Lu Huailin in disbelief: "How could this be?"

Then she remembered that since she was kicked out of the compound, her father had never seen her again, which made her even more afraid.

Seeing that his mother had calmed down, Lu Huailin felt relieved. He couldn't let his mother meet his wife.

Otherwise, he himself will be the one to suffer in the end.

Therefore, Lu's father should take the blame.
