Chapter 152 The Lu Family

Chapter 152 The Lu Family

Lu Family

Mr. Lu sat on the sofa, suppressing his anger.

With a cold face, she looked at Lu's mother and questioned, "Since you let Fang Yi go back to her parents' home, why did you let her come back in?"

Mrs. Lu had never seen Mr. Lu look so grim. She muttered under her breath, "Miaomiao misses her mother."

Mr. Lu stood up abruptly, grabbed the teacup on the table, and smashed it at Mrs. Lu's feet, startling her so much that she quickly took two steps back.

Looking at Lu's father's furious face, Lu's mother felt extremely wronged, and tears streamed down her face without her realizing it.

The two had been married for decades, and Lu's father had never raised his voice at her before. Yet now he was so angry with her.

Brother Lu couldn't stand it anymore. He stepped forward and helped his mother, who was sobbing softly, and yelled at his father, "Dad, how could you treat Mom like this?"

Father Lu narrowed his eyes as he looked at his elder brother, his voice growing colder: "Are you jealous of your younger brother's success?"

Upon hearing this, Brother Lu suddenly looked up at his father and exclaimed, "Dad, how could you think of me like that?"

A hint of disappointment flashed in Lu's father's eyes: "Whether it is or not, you know best in your heart."

Brother Lu carefully helped his mother turn around and sit on the sofa opposite him.

Feeling that his father's temper was inexplicable, he asked, "Dad, did Fang Yi's return upset your wife?"

"How about I have Fang Yi call and apologize to her sister-in-law?"

Brother Lu actually disliked Gu Yihan quite a bit. When Fang Yi returned home that day, her face was swollen like a steamed bun, which showed how ruthless the attack was.

Upon hearing Fang Yi's name, a flash of disgust crossed Mr. Lu's eyes. He looked coldly at his elder brother and sneered, "Don't you dare ruin Huailin's marriage."

"Dad, what do you mean? How could I possibly harm my younger brother?" Brother Lu was hurt by his father's questioning gaze.

Although he sometimes feels uncomfortable because he is not as successful as Lu Huailin, and feels a bit disappointed, he is not bad himself.

Mr. Lu was furious with the women in his family; they kept everything from him.

He would have been completely unaware of the situation if he hadn't received a call from his youngest son.

Who is Gu Yihan? She can hand over the national hamster and save Lu Huailin from imminent death. At least her family benefited.

Fang Yi was ruthless; she tried to kill someone else's child with a single move.

Putting everything else aside, in Lu's father's mind, even if Lu's eldest brother's family of three were tied together, they wouldn't be as important as Lu Huailin.

The network of connections he built up over his entire life is something his youngest son, Lu Huailin, needs to inherit.

Even a hundred Fang Yis couldn't compare to one Gu Yihan, a daughter-in-law who could pull her youngest son back from the brink of death.

Mr. Lu's gaze fell directly on Mrs. Lu: "Fang Yi wanted to harm Gu Yihan's unborn child, why didn't you tell me?"

Lu's mother felt that this year was absolutely terrible; there wasn't a single day of peace in the house, and even things that had already passed were being brought up again.

“Since my daughter-in-law is fine, I didn’t say anything.”

Brother Lu was startled by his father's words. He looked at his mother, his tone filled with suspicion: "Mom, did you see Fang Yi trying to harm your sister-in-law with your own eyes?"

Lu's mother glanced at Lu's father, whose face had turned ashen, and then at her eldest son, who looked incredulous, and said, "I didn't see it. It was Huailin who said it."

Brother Lu breathed a sigh of relief; he truly didn't want to believe that Fang Yi would harm Gu Yihan's unborn child.

Lu's mother said to Lu's father, "I kicked Fang Yi out that day and never let her come back."

Mr. Lu sneered, "She won't be allowed in anymore. I've already spoken to the guards at the gate. Fang Yi is not allowed to enter the compound from now on."

Brother Lu felt that his father had gone mad. For the sake of Gu Yihan, he wouldn't let Fang Yi into the compound. Wouldn't the whole military compound laugh at their family?

Lu's mother looked up at Lu's father and whispered a good word for Fang Yi: "Old Lu, Huai Lin's wife is fine, isn't she? You've already separated the eldest son's family."

“If we don’t let Fang Yi into the compound, those gossipy women outside will probably start laughing at our eldest brother.”

As Mr. Lu's gaze grew colder, he chuckled softly, "What's so funny? Face is earned, not given by others."

"Also, haven't you elevated Miaomiao's status too much? Does she have to do whatever she wants?"

Brother Lu was stunned. His father was looking down on Miaomiao because she was a girl. His voice trembled as he said, "Dad, you also favor boys over girls and look down on Miaomiao."

Mr. Lu had been busy all day and had been talking for so long after returning home that his mouth was already dry. He called out to Aunt He, who was packing quails in the kitchen, "Sister He, pour me a glass of water."

Hearing Mr. Lu's call, Aunt He deftly poured a glass of warm water and carefully handed it to him.

After the other person took the water glass, she quickly ran back to the kitchen.

When Brother Lu saw his father drinking water slowly, his eyes reddened. He only had one child, Miaomiao, so naturally he was very concerned.

Mr. Lu put down his teacup and looked coldly at his elder brother, saying, "What does it have to do with me if your own parents are incompetent?"

Brother Lu was seething with anger. Although he didn't believe Fang Yi would harm Gu Yihan's child, his father's attitude was a huge blow to him.

The question slipped out: "Dad, in your heart, is Miaomiao less important than your sister-in-law's unborn child?"

When Lu's mother heard the questioning tone in Lu's older brother's voice, her heart skipped a beat, and she immediately tugged at his clothes.

Brother Lu ignored his mother and looked directly into his father's eyes: "Is Dad so sure that my sister-in-law will give birth to a son to carry on the Lu family line?"

Seeing Lu's increasingly grim expression, Lu's mother immediately interrupted, "Huaixu, our family doesn't have the concept of favoring sons over daughters."

"Over the years, the younger generation has only been insignificant, and we have never urged you on."

Brother Lu looked stubbornly at his father, wanting an answer from him: "If there's no favoritism towards sons, why does Dad treat..."

"Shut up."

Lu's father's furious shout rang out.

"Since you want to know so much, I'll tell you."

Father Lu looked at his eldest brother with cold eyes: "Because the Lu family will be handed over to Huailin in the future, not you."

"So no matter whether your sister-in-law gives birth to a boy or a girl, her status in the Lu family will always be higher than Miaomiao's."

Brother Lu stared wide-eyed at his father in disbelief, his lips trembling as he said, "I'm the eldest."

Mr. Lu sneered: "The Lu family isn't just about you. There are also your eldest uncle's and third uncle's children. Even without Huailin, the Lu family wouldn't be handed over to you."

Brother Lu was not convinced. His grandparents had always told him that he was the eldest grandson in the family and that everything had to be given to him first.

It doesn't matter whether I give them the family's money or not, but why shouldn't my network of connections belong to me?

Lu's father glanced at him and snorted coldly: "I gave you a chance, but you complained that being a soldier was too hard and tiring and you didn't want to. So don't complain about fate."

Mr. Lu glanced at Mrs. Lu standing to the side: "I've spoken to the guards at the gate, and they won't allow Huaixu to pass through again."

"If you can't bear to part with Miaomiao, you can move in with the eldest son's family of three."

After saying this, he went straight upstairs to the study.

Only after Lu's father's back was out of sight did Lu's mother walk over to Lu's older brother and whisper to comfort him, "Don't listen to your dad. He's angry right now, so don't take what he says seriously."

Brother Lu looked at his mother with his red eyes and said, "Mom, you've always been biased towards me. Did you know all along that Dad and the others had given up on me?"

He saw the evasive look in his mother's eyes and chuckled, "Mom, I understand."

After saying that, he walked out of the living room without looking back.
