Chapter 377 Dividing Chicken Soup
Gu Yihan didn't want Bai Yun to blame herself if she failed the exam.
He quickly explained, "Aunt Bai, whether you can go in depends on your exam results."
The implication is that whether she gets recruited is not up to her.
Bai Yun understood what Gu Yihan meant.
With tears in her eyes, she said firmly, "Xiao Han, don't worry, I will definitely pass the exam."
After saying that, she asked Gu Yihan to help her conceal her whereabouts.
Gu Yihan nodded, puzzled, and quickly assured him that she would never tell.
Zhang Mei repeatedly assured that she would not reveal Bai Yun's whereabouts.
Just as Bai Yun left with her luggage, Gu Yihan suddenly patted Zhang Mei's arm.
He laughed and said, "Auntie, do you think we're both fools? Aunt Bai's household registration is still in the military."
"Chief of Staff Gao only needs to know where she went; there's no need to ask, a simple investigation will tell us!"
Upon hearing this, Zhang Mei exclaimed "Oh dear!" and slapped her thigh, saying, "That's right! I knew something was off just now."
Lu Huailin glanced at the time, interrupted their conversation, picked up three fish, and handed them to Zhang Mei.
"Auntie, it's getting late. You should hurry back and cook dinner, or Political Commissar Zhao will complain to you when he gets back."
Zhang Mei glanced at the time, then, forgetting all about chatting, quickly grabbed the fish and headed home.
A few days later, Bai Yun excitedly called Gu Yihan to tell her that she had been accepted into the garment factory.
Gu Yihan congratulated her. No matter what, the fact that she passed meant she was capable.
Time passed by day by day.
October arrived in the blink of an eye.
The autumn air is crisp and clear, with a significant temperature difference between day and night.
Gu Yihan got up early, killed a five-year-old hen, and simmered it over low heat in the kitchen all morning.
Just as the casserole was about to be ready, she turned to face Lu Huailin, who was tidying up.
He shouted loudly, "Huailin, bring the lunchbox over here."
"Here I am, my wife."
"Coming, Mom."
Then, Lu Huailin came in carrying two aluminum lunch boxes, smiling and saying, "Honey, thank you for your hard work!"
Hao Hao, holding his special little bowl, sweetly called out, "Mom, thank you for your hard work."
Gu Yihan looked at the soft, chubby Hao Hao.
Unable to resist letting out a soft "Ouch!", she bent down and kissed Hao Hao's forehead.
She smiled and said, "My darling is still my little one, he knows how to care for his mother."
Hao Hao grinned and giggled.
Seeing this, Lu Huailin quickly stretched his head out and said with a smile, "Wife, I want one too."
Gu Yihan pushed Lu Huailin's head away from her and glared at him.
"Knowing how hard I work, you'll have to treat me well from now on!"
Lu Huailin wasn't angry that he didn't get a sweet kiss from his wife; he figured he'd get it back later that night.
Gu Yihan first served herself a bowl and had Lu Huailin bring it to the dining table.
She then turned to Hao Hao and instructed him, "Be careful when you drink it, don't burn your tongue."
"Mom, Hao Hao knows."
After saying that, Hao Hao followed Lu Huailin out happily.
After settling Hao Hao in, Lu Huailin returned to the kitchen, intending to offer his assistance.
When Gu Yihan saw Lu Huailin reach out to take the spoon from her hand, she quickly dodged.
She said irritably, "If it weren't for Dad's sake, I wouldn't be willing to waste a whole morning making soup."
After saying that, she divided the chicken soup into two portions, one for Mr. Lu and one for Mrs. Lu.
Lu Huailin circled around his wife, jokingly saying with a smile, "My wife is the most filial."
Gu Yihan rolled her eyes at him
While serving the soup, she repeatedly instructed, "The new aluminum lunchbox is Dad's, and the chicken soup in the old lunchbox is Mom's."
"You must remember this, don't get them mixed up."
"Honey, if you're really worried, you can come with me."
Upon hearing this, Gu Yihan couldn't help but roll her eyes and said irritably, "I don't want to face your mother's attitude."
"Okay, okay, okay, I won't face it, I won't face it anymore."
When Lu Huailin saw that his wife had finished preparing the chicken soup, he stepped forward, put his arm around her, and gently coaxed her.
Gu Yihan looked up and met his smiling eyes, and said, "Repeat it."
Lu Huailin sighed and repeated, "The new one is Dad's, the old one is Mom's."
He didn't understand why his wife insisted on making such a clear distinction; weren't they all just platitudes?
They came from the same pot, yet they insist on separating them.
Gu Yihan nodded in satisfaction and said with a smile, "You should go to Dad's first, then Mom's."
Lu Huailin nodded, listening to his wife's repeated nagging, but he didn't find it annoying at all.
It also felt like my heart was soaking in warm water, so comforting.
This is the atmosphere a home should have.
A mischievous child, and a loving, talkative wife.
...
Lu Huailin returned to the Lu family home with chicken soup and heard his father coughing repeatedly.
She quickly stepped forward and gently patted his back, saying with a worried expression, "Dad, why don't you go to the hospital for a check-up?"
"This constant coughing can't go on!"
"Cough cough..."
"It's nothing...cough, it's normal to catch a cold during seasonal changes."
After saying that, Mr. Lu couldn't help but cough again.
Lu Huaihong frowned slightly, took the lunchbox and went into the kitchen to heat up the chicken soup.
A moment later, he ladled the heated chicken soup into a bowl and handed it to Mr. Lu.
He instructed, "Drink it while it's hot. My wife made it herself when she heard you were coughing."
Upon hearing this, Mr. Lu reached out and took the bowl, smiling as he said, "My daughter-in-law is the most filial."
After drinking the chicken soup, Mr. Lu felt the tightness in his chest ease a bit.
He took a closer look and then couldn't help coughing twice.
The pain in my bronchi has lessened considerably, unlike the sharp, stabbing pain I experienced at the beginning.
"Dad, would you like some more chicken soup?"
When Lu Huailin saw that his father had finished drinking and remained silent, he assumed that his wife had forgotten to add seasoning to the soup.
He quickly turned around and went back to the kitchen, picked up a spoon and tasted the saltiness.
I smacked my lips; it tasted pretty good.
When Mr. Lu came in, he saw Lu Huailin drinking his soup and immediately scolded, "Who told you to drink my soup!"
Startled by his father's sudden reprimand, Lu Huailin quickly turned around and said, "Dad, what are you doing?"
Lu's father glanced at Lu Huailin, quickly stepped forward, snatched the soup from his hand, and drank it all in no time.
Not satisfied with that, he ate all the chicken stewed until it was as soft as mud in the aluminum lunchbox.
Upon seeing this, Lu Huailin's lips twitched involuntarily; it seemed that his father was truly hungry.
After finishing his food and drink, Mr. Lu felt warm all over, and his eyelids started to droop; he wanted to sleep.
She glanced at Lu Huailin: "Didn't you say you were going to your mother's?"
Lu Huailin nodded and said, "I'll go check on how Mom is recovering."
Upon hearing this, Mr. Lu waved his hand and urged, "Go ahead, I'm sleepy, I need to get some sleep."
After saying that, he yawned and went upstairs.
Lu Huailin sighed and drove to his mother's place.
As soon as I stepped into Lu's mother's house, a stench hit me.
