Chapter 30 Cooking Incident

Oh my? Is Old Lady Wang able to move now?

Shen Siyue sat on the kang and looked at Old Lady Wang struggling on the ground in surprise.

She supported her chin with one hand and gave a thumbs up to Old Lady Wang with the other hand: "You are physically disabled but your mind is strong, and motherly love is great. Come on, old lady, I believe in you!"

Old Lady Wang lay on the ground, pretending not to hear Shen Siyue’s weird voice, and after a short rest, she prepared to crawl out.

"Come on, come on, let me help you."

Chen Siyue quickly got off the kang, lifted the door curtain and hung it aside, then went to the outer room and opened the door.

"The road ahead is clear and unobstructed. Keep going forward, keep up the good work, and come on!" He said this while making a gesture of invitation.

After finishing, she quickly returned to the kang and wrapped herself in a quilt. It didn't take long for the room to become very cold, so she had to keep warm in advance.

Sure enough, after a while, Old Lady Wang, who was lying on the ground looking at Yong, started to shiver from the cold.

The ground in the rural house was compacted with earth. Although Chen Siyue often opened the door for ventilation, at that time Old Lady Wang was still lying on the warm kang.

Most of Old Mrs. Wang's body was unconscious, and the other half that was conscious was pressed against the cold ground, wriggling like a maggot. How miserable could one describe her?

Shen Siyue wrapped herself in a quilt, got off the kang and squatted in front of Old Lady Wang: “Beg me, beg me and I’ll get you back on the kang.”

Old Lady Wang looked up at Shen Siyue with her slightly blurry eyes, and she didn’t know what she was thinking of. She gritted her teeth, lowered her head, and her whole body began to tremble.

Shen Siyue looked at her miserable appearance and smiled: “You used to be the mistress of this family, and all your sons, daughters-in-law, grandchildren and granddaughters had to listen to you. How majestic were you at that time?”

"You don't like my granddaughter, so you intensified your torture and then pushed me into the fire pit. Now you can't move. Who else can stand by you except me?"

"Even my mother, who is usually so submissive, would rather go out in the cold to work for others than stay at home to serve you. How pitiful are you?"

"Think about how arrogant you were in the past, and then look at how people despise you now. What's the point of living like this? Don't you think so?"

Shen Siyue’s voice was like a poisonous snake, slowly corroding Old Lady Wang’s spirit.

The left hand that had been supporting him finally lost its strength, and he lay on the ground sobbing in despair, and slowly pulled at Shen Siyue’s trouser legs with his hands, his eyes full of pleading.

She doesn't want to die yet. She doesn't want to die. Old Mrs. Wang is really afraid of freezing to death on the ground. As the saying goes, it is better to live a miserable life than to die a good death!

"Is it hopeless? No one comes to save you, no one cares about you, and everyone wants to stay as far away from you as possible. It's a tough feeling, isn't it? That's how your granddaughter felt when she hit her head against the wall. Try to understand it!"

After Shen Siyue finished speaking, she ignored her and went to the kang, found a comfortable position and lay down to take a nap.

When people feel pitiful, they want others to forget the bad things they have done and think that everything is in the past. Holding grudges becomes pettiness.

But the memories of Shen Siyue that remained in her mind really made it difficult for her to sympathize with the old woman on the ground.

Old Mrs. Wang had been lying on the ground, unable to get out or get on the kang.

It was not until after noon that Li Xiang came back to get a needle for sewing clothes. She saw the door of her house was wide open. She went into the house and found Old Lady Wang who was almost frozen to death on the ground.

The frail Li Xiang took great pains to help Old Lady Wang back to the kang.

The fearful old lady Wang saw Li Xiang as if she had seen a life-saving straw. Her skinny hands tightly grasped the hem of her clothes like a pair of pliers.

Li Xiang was in a hurry to go out, and after trying to open it several times, she still failed. She had no choice but to coax her in a gentle way: "Mom, the girl from Xiuzhen's family in the village is getting married, and she wants me to help make the quilt. Can you please loosen it?"

No matter how Li Xiang coaxed her, Old Lady Wang just wouldn't let go.

In this way, Li Xiang was trapped in the house by Old Lady Wang.

It was almost time to cook lunch, and Li Xiang was as anxious as an ant on hot pan.

After a while, the men in the family came back for dinner, but when they saw that the meal was not ready yet, they were afraid that they would be beaten again.

Ever since Shen Siyue chopped down Old Lady Wang and bit Shen Weimin, Wang Huilian used the excuse that the mother had to pay for the son's debt to push all the housework onto Li Xiang.

The men at home don’t care who cooks the meal, as long as they have food to eat when they come home.

Wang Huilian and her daughter Shen Hongmei go out to visit neighbors and chat every day, and then come back to eat at a certain time. They live a very carefree life.

By the way, isn’t Shen Hongmei going out to collect firewood?

In the first few days, she did not dare to be lazy. She honestly went to the fields to collect corn leaves and went to the mountains to pick up branches.

But Old Man Shen couldn't just keep an eye on how much firewood she carried back every day. After a few days, Shen Hongmei discovered that her grandfather no longer cared about her.

So Shen Hongmei, who was unwilling to go out in the cold wind, still pretended to go out with a backpack every day, and then turned around and followed her mother to work on the kang in other people's homes.

Old Mrs. Wang clung tightly to Li Xiang as her lifeline. She had finally realized clearly that the only person in the family she could control was her second son, her daughter-in-law.

From now on, she asked the second son's wife to stay with her all the time, otherwise sooner or later, she would be killed by that evil ghost.

Shen Siyue lay on the kang, boredly looking at the two women next to her, one refused to let go, the other was about to cry, the tug-of-war was quite interesting.

When it was time for dinner, people who had been visiting friends outside came back one after another.

I was just about to warm my hands before eating, but I found out the stove was cold and the pot was empty. Where could I get any food?

"Oh, why haven't you cooked yet? Where is your sister-in-law?" Wang Huilian said with a gloating look.
