Chapter 117 Spring plowing is over

With Gu Ye feeding her, Bonnie regained the weight she had lost in no time, but her tanned skin didn't lighten much.

After May Day, several light rains fell, and Bonnie and her friends' island impressed everyone.

The lush green wheat is already over a foot tall, the corn seedlings are sturdy, and the soybeans have unfurled two or three leaves. The other crops are also growing vigorously, thriving and bringing joy to everyone.

Bonnie cultivated six plots of land, and the crops were all growing well. She could almost see white steamed buns and white dumplings beckoning to her.

"May the Goddess Mazu bless you," Bao Ni said, wishing she could chant it twice a day.

The only downside was that a few apple trees died, but it's still pretty good; the survival rate is already very high.

While Bonnie was trying her best to whiten her skin, two letters from Beijing left people sighing with emotion.

One of the letters was from my second brother, a letter bringing good news. The joy in the letter was so overflowing it seemed to leap off the page.

In his letter, my second brother said that my sister-in-law, Hao Mei, was pregnant, already three months along, and everything was going well. Bao Ni could feel his joy; it was evident in every word. Perhaps he was so excited that his handwriting seemed to be dancing.

Bonnie was happy for her second brother and sister-in-law. In this day and age, getting married and having children makes life feel complete.

The pleasant mood didn't last long before Sister-in-law Gu's letter turned it sour.

Several sheets of paper were used; my sister-in-law wrote down everything that had happened during this period. It was truly earth-shattering and epic! I never expected the Gu family to have so many things to do.

The eldest sister-in-law first mentioned Gu Yu, the son of Uncle Gu San. He had fallen for a dancer in the performing arts troupe and insisted on getting married. Uncle Gu San disagreed, thinking that it was improper for a grown man to dance, especially since his family was from the countryside.

Bonnie thought to herself, "That last one is the real reason; the others are just excuses." Bonnie had long since figured out that Uncle Gu and his wife were rather snobbish. It was obvious from their attitudes towards her, who came from the island, and her sister-in-law, who came from the compound.

This time, their only daughter has taken a liking to a dancer from the countryside, which is bound to cause a huge uproar! When the eldest sister-in-law wrote the letter, the uproar was still ongoing, and Uncle Gu threatened that if Gu Yu insisted on going her own way, he would disown her as his daughter.

Stay tuned for what happens next...

"hehe……"

Bonnie couldn't help but chuckle; her sister-in-law's letter was quite interesting.

There are many girls in the Gu family. After talking about Gu Yu, we talked about Gu Mei, the brave girl who traveled the world for love.

Gu Mei has been working in the countryside in Yunnan Province for over a year, and she writes back almost every month, crying and complaining.

Gu Mei didn't actually suffer much. She was on a farm run by the Production and Construction Corps, where she not only received a salary but also didn't have to do any labor. Her father had arranged for her to work at the clinic.

Perhaps frightened by the changes in the people around him, he had been a vibrant young man when he arrived, but in less than a year, they were all pale and thin, and some had even encountered bad things. A hothouse flower like him couldn't stand it, and kept clamoring to go back to the city.

Many people leave, but very few return. Gu's father no longer has the ability to bring Gu Mei back.

Gu Mei, who had cried and made a fuss many times, had forgotten about her Brother Han and only wanted to return to the city. But what Gu Mei didn't understand was that going to the countryside was easy for her, but coming back was not something that could be solved by crying and making a fuss a few times.

Whether Gu's father will be able to transfer Gu Mei back in the end, his sister-in-law added, "To find out more, please stay tuned for the next episode."

Bonnie seriously suspects that her sister-in-law has recently become obsessed with storytelling. The story has only been told so far, leaving a lot of suspense and making people eager to know more.

As for Gu Yuan and Gu Lan, they were quite quiet, married, had children, and lived a peaceful life.

Next, the older sister-in-law wrote a chilling sentence: "Baby, you're finished!"

And the worst part was that the bottom half of the letter was empty, there was nothing there. Bonnie was completely stunned. She was going to have bad luck, so her sister-in-law asked someone to tell her fortune.

Bonnie had no idea how many pages of letters she had read, or if there would be any more. She flipped through the pages again and found there was one more.

The matter has been resolved; to find out more, please stay tuned for the next installment.

The incident started because Gu Feng's wife couldn't take care of the two children on her own, so she secretly hired someone to help take care of the children, clean the house, and cook. In short, she hired a nanny.

With Grandma Gu's secret subsidies, Gu Feng and his wife were financially secure and lived a very comfortable life. They were waited on hand and foot, truly enjoying a life of luxury.

When people have too many good days, they get a little carried away.

When Gu Feng's wife was having a gathering with the other wives in the compound, she let slip that she was showing off her good life, which was overheard by someone with ulterior motives. Also, because Gu Panpan was sick, Gu Feng's wife yelled at the people she had hired, speaking recklessly and without thinking.

As a result, the two sides were neutralized. Qu Jing was reported for hiring a nanny, which was considered hedonistic. Gu Feng's promotion, which was arranged by his grandfather, fell through, and he almost lost his military uniform. The old man, disregarding his reputation, used his connections to transfer Gu Feng out of the military base in Beijing.

Grandma Gu cried and lamented her loss, which earned her a severe scolding from Grandpa Gu. Grandma Gu also bore some responsibility for spoiling the child without any principles.

The eldest sister-in-law wrote in large characters: "Gu Feng is about to be transferred to an island!!!"

Bonnie rubbed her eyes, checked again and again, and finally realized that she hadn't seen wrong; Gu Feng was indeed being transferred to the island.

Bonnie felt that her sister-in-law was gloating a little, and might even be laughing as she wrote it!

Bonnie couldn't understand Grandpa Gu's obsession. How could brothers who weren't of one mind support each other? Why did he insist on the prosperity of the Gu family? This wasn't ancient times, and there was no longer a strong sense of family.

Besides, the Gu family is not a prestigious family with the mission of restoring the family's prosperity. Going back three generations, they were all peasants.
