Bonnie ran out of the house and rode her bicycle to pick up Sanqi.
Sanqi is almost one year old, and lately her temper has flared up considerably. Bonnie remembers that a child's first rebellious phase is around three years old, so why is Sanqi going so early?
As soon as I arrived at my mother's house, I could hear Sanqi's chattering. I couldn't understand what she was saying; it was all Martian language, and I couldn't understand a word.
"Ah...ah..."
As soon as he saw his mother appear, Sanqi first shouted "Ah ah" twice. Then, he quickly climbed into the kang (a heated brick bed), sat facing inward, and turned the back of his head towards his mother to show that he was angry, very angry. Bao Ni could even hear him humming.
"Sanqi, I'm sorry, Mom was wrong, I forgot to pick you up. Can you forgive Mom?"
Although Bonnie had a strict father, Lao Jiang, there is a diversity of online video resources, many of which are about modern parents raising children, and apologizing is the norm, adhering to the principles of equality and mutual respect.
It was unclear whether Sanqi understood his mother's apology or just wanted to eat his food. He slowly turned around, but his expression remained somewhat serious. Seeing Sanqi like this, Bao Ni almost laughed, but quickly held it in, lest she add fuel to the fire.
Picking up Gu Sanqi, letting him wave goodbye to his grandmother, she then sat him in his high chair and was carried home by Bonnie.
"Sanqi, did you miss your sister? We're having dumplings for dinner tonight, are you happy?"
Liu Jiu finally saw her younger brother and quickly expressed her longing for him.
Sanqi gave Liujiu a big smile. Baoni washed her hands and came over to breastfeed Sanqi. Sanqi, who had just been smiling at her sister, immediately lost her smile when she saw her mother. She looked incredibly cold.
"Sanqi, you're angry with your mother. Don't be angry anymore. Forgive me this once, let's be more forgiving."
Liu Jiu pleaded with her mother, but San Qi still didn't smile again. She finished her food with a serious expression and then climbed over to her sister.
"Six-nine, play with your little brother for a while, then Mom and Dad will go make dumplings together."
"Okay, Mom, you go quickly. Liu Jiu's stomach is rumbling. It says it's hungry and wants to eat dumplings."
Bonnie looked at the two siblings speechlessly, wondering why there were so many shows.
"What's wrong? Is Sanqi unhappy?"
"Yeah, the moment she sees me, her smile vanishes, and even apologies don't work. She just treats me with aloofness."
Bonnie complained to Gu Ye, and also took the opportunity to act cute.
"It's alright, you brat, you need a good scolding. It's just that I forgot to pick him up, what's so unforgivable? I'll scold him later, how can he be so petty? Can't he forgive his mother just once? A real man should be broad-minded..."
"Ah...ah..."
Sanqi's angry voice interrupted Gu Ye's rant, startling Bao Ni and the other girl.
Turning around, she saw Liu Jiu holding San Qi standing at the door. She had heard everything they said, and San Qi's brows were furrowed into a deep frown.
"Mom and Dad, it's wrong to talk about others behind their backs."
"Mom and Dad were wrong, we apologize."
Bao Ni and Gu Ye were a little embarrassed when they were caught red-handed. It wasn't good that their daughter was so strong; how could she be holding her younger brother while listening to her parents talk!
"snort……"
Sanqi's hum was either a coincidence or because her nose was itchy; her little face, which had just started to smile, fell back down.
Gu Ye watched Liu Jiu carry San Qi away, muttering, "San Qi isn't as generous as Liu Jiu; she's a bit stingy and gets angry easily..."
"Alright, stop talking, or he'll hear you again."
Bonnie patted Gu Ye on the shoulder. Really, maybe it's just a coincidence, but what does a little guy who's not even a year old know?
At dinner, Bonnie, trying to please Sanqi, made two cold dumplings for her, crumbling them into small pieces, something she would normally only eat one at a time.
Sanqi glanced at his special rice bowl, a long-lost smile appearing on his face. He picked up a spoon and clumsily tried to put dumplings into his mouth. However, his hand wouldn't cooperate, and the dumplings kept slipping out. Frustrated, Sanqi abandoned the spoon and used his hands instead.
Bonnie watched as Sanqi stuffed handfuls of dumplings into her mouth and thought to herself, "Where's your aloofness? Where's your seriousness? Are you still you eating with your paws?"
Sanqi has fallen into a state of complete apathy, rejecting all external information and having only one thought: to eat dumplings.
Alright, Bonnie didn't care anymore. These dumplings smelled so good, why think so much? Just eat them and that's it.
People who aren't family don't enter the same door; their eating habits were exactly the same.
Unlike the warm atmosphere in Bonnie's family, the atmosphere in Gu Feng's family was somewhat gloomy.
"The children are hungry, why haven't you even cooked a meal?"
Gu Feng had been busy all day. When he got home, the stove was cold and the child was still crying. He was very annoyed.
“I want to cook too, but there’s no water. We have to fetch our own water here. You’ve used up all the water you fetched before, and I don’t know how to fetch water, nor can I carry it.”
Qu Jing was also feeling wronged. The public toilets here were filthy, and there were unidentified reptiles. Cooking required using a bellows, and they had to fetch water themselves; mosquitoes were everywhere…
"You have to learn even if you don't know how. You can carry water half a bucket at a time, or even just bring back a little water. We can't let the child go hungry!"
Gu Feng carried the buckets out to fetch water, too tired to speak; he couldn't explain himself. Qu Jing hadn't grasped her situation; he really didn't know what she was thinking.
Qu Jing watched Gu Feng's indifferent back. What had happened between them? Ever since they arrived here, they had been constantly arguing and blaming each other. Back in Beijing, they were a model couple that everyone envied. She was beautiful and cultured, and Gu Feng was gentle and refined; their family was so warm and loving!
After a hesitant dinner, the lights started flickering, signaling that it was time to turn them off.
Another flurry of activity ensued, and just as I lay down on the bed, the light went out.
The family lay in bed. Except for Gu Xuanye, who was exhausted and asleep, even Gu Panpan was awake. She could sense the unpleasantness between her parents. She was worried that her parents might divorce and that she might become homeless.
The sun will still rise from the east the next day, and it will not stop for any person or event!
Bonnie had long forgotten about meeting Gu Feng's wife and hadn't mentioned it to Gu Ye.
Since she didn't have to go to the island to mow the lawn these few days, Bonnie decided to do a thorough cleaning at home. Because she'd been busy with the crops on the island, the house hadn't been properly cleaned in a long time.
Sanqi was placed in a crib with railings, which Grandpa Bonnie specially made for him; he had used one when Sanqi was six and nine. The railings were high and smooth, so the child wouldn't get hurt. Sanqi sat inside playing with his toys, watching his mother busy herself.
Liu Jiu is quite skilled at tidying up; she cleaned up every nook and cranny of the house in one morning.
That's when the house didn't have much furniture. The children didn't have a variety of toys, otherwise, how could it have been so quick to tidy up completely? Let alone two children, even one child's things would fill an entire room.
Think about the children of later generations. Although they have so many toys, they don't seem to be very happy and are quite lonely. She herself is a living example.
"Ah...Mom, ah, Mom."
Sanqi called out more clearly this time; it's hungry!
