"Who told Bonnie to be so amazing? We can't afford to be wiped out!"
Lin Hai is a man who cares about his reputation, and he's counting on Sister Bao Ni to save face.
"Han Weidong, how about it? Want to have a spar?"
"I'd be happy to oblige."
Han Weidong had never seen Bao Ni make a move; he had only heard Li Gang say that she had kicked him away.
The others stepped back, giving Bonnie and her friend enough space, and gathered around to watch.
Bonnie stretched her arms and legs, signaling to Han Weidong that it was okay.
A true expert's skill is immediately apparent. Both of them had practiced, and their movements were clean and efficient, unlike their previous playful antics.
Han Weidong and Bao Ni were both formally trained, and their punches and kicks were fast, accurate, and ruthless. After a dozen or so moves, everyone could see that Bao Ni was the better fighter.
Han Weidong had already been hit several times, but Sister Baoni managed to dodge each time, dissipating his strength. After a few more moves, Baoni delivered a side kick, and Han Weidong fell to the ground, unable to get up for a long time.
"Is that enough? Let's end our sparring here for today. You guys take a break and then go to the beach to find something to eat. Our food supplies are limited, so we can only make do with what we have. Each family on the island eats two meals a day. My capacity is limited, so you guys should get to work."
"Okay, Bonnie."
Actually, everyone understands that Sister Bonnie is doing this for them, afraid that they'll work on an empty stomach and hurt their health. But, they've always lived like this before, and they're already quite content.
They scattered in twos and threes to find food. Their lunch allowance was rationed, and they had to find a way to eat their fill. "Those who live near mountains eat from the mountains, those who live near water eat from the water," they thought. "A living person won't die from holding their pee," so they got moving.
