After seeing Bao Ni and her son off, Grandma patted Er Bao's head. The little guy turned around and hugged his wife, looking a little sad.
The second child is different from the first. The first child was raised by Grandma Lin from a young age, and his personality and character were well-developed. For a period of time, influenced by his mother, the second child vaguely felt that his grandparents didn't like him anymore.
Grandma Lin gently patted Erbao's back. All she could give her child was a hug and some comfort, but it couldn't replace the love of parents.
Meanwhile, Sanqi, whom everyone envies, has angered her mother and is now following her around like a puppy, trying to please her.
"Mom, I love you!"
"Hmph, you love me with mud."
Bonnie teased Sanqi, the two of them walking one in front of the other, chatting as they went.
I love you with all my heart!
"I'll trust you this once."
"hehe……"
Sanqi took her mother's hand and walked home.
"What are you two talking about? I could see you laughing and joking from far away."
"Keep it a secret!"
Sanqi covered her mouth with both hands, indicating that she couldn't say anything.
"Alright, Sanqi, go play in the yard. Mom and Auntie will have a chat."
Tap tap... Sanqi pushed open the door and entered the courtyard.
"Sister-in-law, are you bored?"
"That's right. Before, there were quite a few women in the family compound who would chat and gossip together. Now, those who have jobs have all gone to work, and those who don't are busy clearing land, planting crops, weeding, and fertilizing. There are hardly any idle people in the compound."
Aunt Zhang was anxious. Everyone got busy, except for the elderly, the weak, the sick, and the disabled.
"We'll start harvesting seaweed seedlings tomorrow. If you don't mind the work, you can come and help. If you go, I'll keep track of your work time. If the experiment is successful and we get some results, I'll pay you."
"I can't say I don't care about wages, and I won't refuse if there's a surplus. If I'm not lucky, my sister-in-law won't keep asking me for wages. Having something to do makes me feel at ease."
Bonnie and Aunt Zhang agreed on a time to meet at the beach tomorrow afternoon.
That evening, Gu Ye came back and cooked dinner. Liu Jiu watched attentively, occasionally asking questions. San Qi wasn't interested; he was digging in the yard with a stick, getting covered in dirt.
When it was time to eat, Bonnie came to the yard to call Sanqi for dinner, and Sanqi was dumbfounded.
Gu Sanqi was quite capable; she had already dug a fairly large pit, filled it halfway with water, and there were unidentified creatures moving around inside. Sanqi was no longer recognizable as a child; her face, body, and even hair were covered in mud and water, streaks of it.
"Sanqi, what are you doing?"
"Raise earthworms to feed chickens."
Bonnie finally understood what was moving in the puddle and felt a chill run down her spine.
Bonnie suppressed her anger; she couldn't lose her temper. She had to be reasonable and gentle, trying to persuade people with logic.
Where does the water come from?
"Water tank".
Sanqi pointed with his little black finger to the large water vat in the yard, which was used to collect water for bathing and washing clothes. Every morning, whoever had time, Bao Ni or Gu Ye, would fill the vat with water. Now, the vat had a muddy groove running along its top, and there was a small stool and a gourd ladle underneath.
Sanqi couldn't reach the water, so she stood on a small stool and used a gourd ladle to scoop water from the water vat. It was too high, and she spilled water all over herself, mixing it with the dirt on her clothes to form muddy paths. Needless to say, the whole vat of water was definitely dirty.
Bonnie suppressed her anger, mixed some warm water in a basin, and tossed Gu Sanqi in. She washed her from head to toe, but she wasn't clean enough, so she changed the water again until she looked like a child.
Gu Ye carried Sanqi back into the house, changed her into clean clothes, and then cleaned up the battlefield outside.
The family finally got to eat; it was such a relief.
The next day, Sanqi took his things and obediently followed his mother to find his wife. He felt that his mother's gaze was not very friendly.
Bonnie handed Sanqi to Grandma and left without looking back.
The mother and daughter had another argument, and the grandmother shook her head helplessly.
Bonnie has been trained by Sanqi; she remains calm under pressure and can handle all kinds of situations.
Is everyone here?
"Everyone's here, Bonnie."
"Grab your basket and let's go."
The small boat rowed away from the shore and headed towards the spot Bonnie had chosen beforehand.
The place wasn't far from where she first conducted her experiment. They moored the boat to the rocks, and each of Bonnie and the others had a flat bamboo basket hanging around their necks to put seaweed seedlings in—a craft made by their grandfathers.
The group followed Bonnie down into the water, and soon they spotted small seaweed seedlings on the rocks. Following Bonnie's instructions, they began to work.
Bonnie told them to stick together and not to act alone, so she kept watch on the perimeter.
Many hands make light work, and after these days of training, their diving skills have improved significantly, with increased depth and duration of dives. They are now capable of harvesting seaweed seedlings.
The small seaweed seedlings were scooped up, and the baskets on the boat were half full.
"Ouch! Who pinched my butt?!"
Bonnie had just surfaced when she heard the boy next to her yell loudly, which startled her.
"What's wrong?"
"Ouch, Aunt Bonnie is pinching my butt, it hurts so much!"
Looking at the tearful Lin Xiaolu, the youngest member of their team, the son of his cousin and the nephew of Bao Ni.
Bonnie crept down beside him and actually found the culprit: a large crab, its pincers clamped onto Xiaolu's bottom and refusing to let go. Bonnie was amused; her luck was unbelievable.
Bonnie flicked the crab to loosen its claws, then apprehended the culprit and handed it over to the victim to deal with.
"Xiao Lu, your aunt has caught the criminal. You can handle him/her now."
Everyone laughed when they saw Bonnie waving the big crab with its pincers in her hand.
"Xiao Lu, when we get back to shore, we'll cook it and that will be the end of its punishment."
"Steaming is fine too."
Lin Xiaolu looked at the crab and felt utterly humiliated. He was determined to eat that damned crab.
"Alright, stop teasing Xiaolu. There are many sea creatures, so be careful not to get hurt."
"Okay, Bonnie."
After this little incident, everyone felt less tired and went back underwater. They could also enjoy the beautiful underwater world between work.
This is an unpolluted sea area with very high visibility. Although it is near the coast, there are still many small creatures.
On the seabed reefs, besides seaweed seedlings, other shellfish also attach, and occasionally abalone can be seen. When unidentified small fish flee in panic, they may bump into them or accidentally swim into the basket.
Han Weidong and his group liked this place. They had been busy practicing diving and hammering wooden stakes, and hadn't really noticed the beautiful scenery underwater.
Suspended in the sea, one can forget all troubles and become detached from worldly concerns.
Bonnie had no idea that these boys could have such poetic moments. She checked the baskets on the boat; they were almost full, so it was time to go back and hurry up and pick the seedlings.
Bonnie gathered everyone together and began their return journey.
