"Commander Gu, please try this. This is a pork rib soup I specially made to help you recover. You were so badly injured saving me this time, and I feel terrible about it."
Upon hearing this, Bonnie wondered if there was some other story behind Gu Ye's injury.
Bonnie pushed open the door and saw a woman in a white coat standing with her back to her, holding something in her hand. Gu Ye had a cold face and kept avoiding her, his anger about to burst out.
"Wife, I'm not feeling well." If Gu Ye weren't worried about his wound reopening, he would have thrown this woman out long ago.
"Wife?" The woman turned around with an incredulous look on her face. Whether she lost her grip on the soup bowl or was too surprised, she threw it away.
"Smack..."
The bowl broke, soup was spilled everywhere, and a piece of pork rib landed at Bonnie's feet.
Luckily, she was agile and dodged quickly; otherwise, she would have been covered in bruises. The female doctor's white coat is now covered in yellowish oil stains—what a waste!
"Who are you, and what are you doing here?" Bonnie sized up the other person. She wasn't young; she must be at least thirty. She wondered who she was. These days, it's rare to see someone with permed hair.
"I'm a doctor, why can't I come here?" the woman, now that she had regained her senses, said with absolute confidence.
"Tsk tsk... Am I just ignorant? Doctors these days don't use stethoscopes anymore, they use soup bowls instead?" Bonnie looked at the woman with a skeptical gaze and pursed her lips.
"I've come to see my savior. Even if you are his wife, that can't stop me from repaying his life-saving grace." The woman was shameless, spouting high-sounding words without a shred of embarrassment.
"Tsk tsk... My Gu Ye must have had the worst luck in eight lifetimes to go on a mission with you. Because of his so-called military profession, he couldn't just stand by and watch someone die. He almost lost his own life."
If you're incompetent, don't force your way in; you'll only hurt yourself and others. If I were you, I'd hide in some back alley. How dare you come out so openly and try to get attention? Who gave you the courage? Is your dad Li Gang?
"You, you, you..." The woman pointed at Bonnie, so angry that she couldn't say a word, and her hand was trembling.
"Director, even this, they started arguing, and I could hear things being smashed."
Bonnie heard the sound and looked over. She had been standing by the door to avoid the soup bowl.
A young nurse walked towards us, followed by a middle-aged man in a white coat.
"What happened?"
"You're in charge here? Doctors at your hospital can just walk into patients' rooms and come in with soup bowls instead of stethoscopes?" Bonnie was blunt. What kind of place is this? Poor management, and it's a military hospital, too.
"I told you, I came to see my savior, what's wrong with you?" The crazy woman ran over angrily, pointing her finger at Bonnie and yelling.
Good heavens, this is the second time she's pointed at Bonnie with her finger. Bonnie, with her fiery temper, reached out and grabbed her finger, forcefully bending it downwards. "Didn't your mother tell you that it's impolite to point at people?"
"Ah...it hurts...it hurts...you, let go of me."
Bonnie remained unmoved and used a little more force, causing the woman to break out in a sweat.
"Comrade, let's get down to business, don't hurt people." The middle-aged man was surprised that things escalated from just talking to physical violence.
"She pointed at my wife first, that's rude." Gu Ye was lying in bed and couldn't get up. He was very anxious. Hearing someone taking sides, he quickly shouted.
The woman, covered in sweat, paled even more upon hearing Gu Ye's words, whether from pain or anger, it was hard to tell.
Bonnie shoved the woman forcefully towards the middle-aged man, nearly knocking him over. "Director!" The young nurse was quite brave, stepping forward to block the fall and preventing a disaster.
"Director, she, she, my hand hurts, sob sob..."
"Take Dr. Nan to rest for a while and change his clothes."
The young nurse led the disgruntled woman away, and the middle-aged man, meeting Bonnie's enigmatic gaze, felt utterly ashamed. He had heard about the commotion Dr. Nan had caused these past few days.
"Comrade, I'm sorry, we failed in our management duties, we will definitely pay attention in the future." The director's attitude was quite sincere, but it was unclear whether he had the resolve to back it up.
“My husband was injured while defending our country and was hospitalized. He was also disturbed by irrelevant people. I am very dissatisfied with this.”
"If this happens again, I'll go to the military headquarters and ask if anyone is doing anything about it. Also, make that woman come back and clean up the mess on the floor; it's filthy." Bonnie's attitude was absolutely rude; she would never tolerate anyone trying to steal her boyfriend.
If the corner of the wall were willing to let her pry it open, she would have no objections and would gladly hand it over. However, since the corner of the wall is now unwilling to be pried open, she cannot tolerate it.
"Of course, of course, I'll handle this." The middle-aged director left, and even his retreating figure suggested he was quite angry, whether from the doctor or from Bonnie's rudeness.
"Wife, you're awesome! I'm not able to move around much now, so you have to protect me." Gu Ye looked at Bao Ni pitifully, almost bursting into tears.
"Alright, stop making that weird face. It doesn't suit your character as Commander Gu." Bonnie patted him and checked him over. Luckily, there was no soup spilled on the bed.
"Hello, I'm here to tidy up."
A woman in her fifties came in carrying a mop. Bonnie had already guessed that the young lady wouldn't come over.
"Oh dear, what a pity! There's so much meat on these ribs, how could they be so wasteful?" The aunt muttered as she worked, her mouth never stopping, until she finished mopping the floor and left.
Bonnie admired this auntie; she was so talkative, how could her family stand her?
"What do you want to eat tonight? I'll go to Master Chen's and bring it back for you." Bonnie saw that it was getting late and she would have to take a car to get to Master Chen's.
"Bonnie, Bonnie, I, I need to go to the toilet."
Gu Ye felt a little uncomfortable; he had difficulty moving around and was quite embarrassed.
Do you have a urinal?
Bonnie started rummaging under the bed, but there was nothing there, only a spittoon, which wasn't very convenient either.
“Gu Ye, there’s no urinal. I’ll carry you to the bathroom. I’ll hold you like I hold Liu Jiu and San Qi to pee, so you won’t be jealous of your daughter and son.” Bao Ni couldn’t help but laugh after saying that.
Gu Ye is now the fish on the chopping block, while they are the butcher. What can he do but endure it?
Bonnie was strong; she easily lifted Gu Ye in a princess carry and headed towards the bathroom. Those in the hallway who witnessed this gasped in surprise, their eyes wide with astonishment.
Gu Ye buried his head in Bao Ni's arms, feeling extremely embarrassed.
After calling out a few times in the men's restroom to make sure no one was there, he put Gu Ye down and let him lean against him to relieve himself.
"What's wrong? Do I have to whistle for you to pee? Okay, I'll whistle then."
"Bonnie, you're bullying me."
Gu Ye was a little embarrassed and it took him a while to release himself. He was carried back to the ward by Bao Ni and lay on the bed, his face still burning.
