"Grandma, wait for me at home. I'll come pick you up on my bike." Bonnie couldn't let her grandma walk there by herself; it would be too tiring.
Before leaving, she gave her grandmother another few instructions before Bonnie picked up her basket and rode her bike home.
Once inside the residential compound, the number of people increased. They gathered in twos and threes, mending clothes, knitting sweaters, and chatting.
Bonnie didn't get off the bike; she rode directly to her front door, opened it, pushed the bike, and went into the yard.
Outside, people started talking about it again.
"Is this Battalion Commander Gu's new wife? She looks quite young." The speaker was Zhu, the wife of Deputy Battalion Commander, who lived in front of Bao Ni's house.

On the stove, everything was ready. Bonnie lit the fire and started the bellows, while Gu Ye began to stir-fry the vegetables.
The aroma wafted out, and Bonnie sniffed, thinking, "What excellent cooking!"
The first time Gu Ye cooked at his wedding established his dominance in the family kitchen. Gu Ye has held that position as the family's head chef for decades.
