The next day, Gu Ze went to work.
Sister-in-law Gu also has a job and hasn't had a holiday yet; this isn't the time for the seven-day Chinese New Year celebrations.
When Bonnie woke up, only Gu Ye was left at home. The children had all gone out, even little Sanqi had gone with them.
"Awake? Are you hungry? Breakfast is still warm."
Gu Ye looked at the sleepy-eyed Bao Ni. His wife was acting like she was part of the family, completely at ease.
"Why didn't you go out?" Bonnie got up to go to the bathroom. She had slept through the night and now she couldn't hold it in any longer.
Finally feeling comfortable, Bonnie washed up and went to have breakfast.
"I'm going out in a bit. I have an appointment with Han Ye and the others this afternoon. Are you staying home or going out for a stroll?"
“At home, I’m not interested in shopping. I haven’t had a proper rest since October. I just want to lie down and do nothing during this time. Xuanyu is taking care of the kids, so I’m completely free. It’s a rare opportunity.” Bonnie ate another steamed bun; it tasted good.
"Okay, my dear Baoni, you've worked hard. For the next month, you don't have to worry about anything. Do whatever you want."
"Yeah, that's the feeling I want. I don't care about the kids or the man, I just treat myself like an unmarried single woman and live life as I please." Bonnie thought about her previous life, where she did nothing but train with the swimming team.
"You can do whatever you want, but not for unmarried single women. I'm still here with your man. Your words are making me tremble and a little uneasy."
Gu Ye objected to Bao Ni posting about single women, saying he was still around.
Bonnie laughed until her stomach hurt; her son, Ye Ge, could be quite adorable sometimes.
After finishing her meal, Bonnie went back to bed. Ah, it's so nice not having to worry about the kids.
In Beijing, she didn't know anyone, and Zhao Yuan, whom she was relatively familiar with, wasn't in Beijing either. The year after they returned to Beijing, they were transferred to other military regions.
Gu Ye looked at the drowsy Bao Ni, closed the door, and was about to leave.
I looked around the compound but didn't see the four children. Xuanyu must have taken them somewhere to play. It's too cold outside. There's a movie theater and an auditorium in the compound. As long as they don't leave the compound, there's no safety issue.
Just as Gu Ye had predicted, Gu Xuanyu took his younger siblings to the stadium in the compound, as it was too cold outside.
The stadium is quite large, with basketball courts, table tennis courts, badminton courts, etc.
Liu Jiu plays ping-pong; there are ping-pong tables on the playground in their compound, and she plays there often. San Qi has a small rubber ball that he can bounce around freely, which he finds quite fun. Gu Xuanyi isn't interested in any sports; he finds them tiring.
When they went in, there were already quite a few children there, the oldest being thirteen or fourteen years old, and the youngest being seven or eight years old. Sanqi was the youngest among them.
"Gu Xuanyu, whose child are you with? Why is such a little one out here?" The boy who spoke was also going through puberty, and his unique hoarse voice was a bit funny.
"Han Bei, you've arrived quite early. These are my uncle's younger sister and brother." Gu Xuanyu stands out among his peers, excelling in many aspects.

"Oh, isn't this the second young lady of the Gu family? What are you doing here playing ball? Do you even know how to hold a racket?" This sarcastic tone made Gu Xuanyi's scalp tingle. He hated Zheng Jun the most.
"They say small eyes focus light, but your eyes are almost the size of soybeans. How come you can't even tell if someone is male or female?"
Liu Jiu could tell from Gu Xuanyi's expression that he was bullying his child.
"Where did this little brat come from? How dare you talk like that? Apologize to me, or my fists won't discriminate between men and women!" The boy named Zheng Jun looked to be about ten years old and hated it most when people said his eyes were small; that was his Achilles' heel.
"Apologize to my second brother first, and then I'll consider whether I'll apologize to you." Liu Jiu wasn't afraid of her at all, and it didn't matter that he was older than her.
"Apologize!" Sanqi echoed.
"Gu Xuanyu, your sister is quite something. She's new here and not intimidated at all. Zheng Jun has met his match. Keep an eye on him; he's got some serious guts."
Gu Xuanyu stood not far away, watching the little ones bickering with a few other boys of similar age. He found it quite amusing. He wasn't worried at all; yesterday, she had sparred with Liu Jiu and hadn't gained any advantage.
"It's alright, my sister knows what she's doing." That proud tone was infuriating!
"Little girl, do you dare to play a game? If you lose, you're not allowed to cry or go home and complain." Zheng Bei issued the challenge.
"Okay, but if you lose, you can't cry or tell your parents." Liu Jiu wasn't afraid at all.
