Chapter 216 Parting and Reunion Are Inevitable

The New Year is over, and Gu Ye and his friends' holiday is coming to an end!

Things happen every day in the compound; the events of the past have been forgotten.

"Baoni, I really hate to part with you." Aunt Gu held Baoni's hand, her reluctance evident in her words.

“Sister-in-law, I’ll miss you too. There are few girls in our family, and I don’t really have many female friends I can talk to. Transportation is inconvenient now, but once the speed of cars increases, it won’t be a problem to see each other a few times a year.”

Bonnie thought about the future of railways, shipping, and highways, and wondered if she would still have the strength by then, as it would be almost twenty years before she was back.

"Okay, we'll get together whenever we have the chance." Sister-in-law Gu was no longer worried. As long as you're alive, you can overcome any difficulty. Maybe Gu Ye will be transferred back to Beijing in a few years.

Outside, the children were also saying goodbye.

"Gu Yun Chu, you didn't forget about me after you got home, did you?" Zheng Jun asked Liu Jiu awkwardly, since he hadn't defeated Liu Jiu yet.

"No, it will take at least a year or two." Liu Jiu thought about it seriously. If they didn't see each other for a year or two, it would be easy to forget each other.

Zheng Jun: I've wasted my sincere feelings!

Zheng Hong: My brother is so pitiful!

Brother Zheng: Haha...

Despite being discouraged, Zheng Jun still gave the gift he had prepared to Liu Jiu.

"Here, this is a handgun I made myself."

Liu Jiu looked at this incredibly ugly piece of wood; how could she possibly recognize a pistol in it? Well, Zheng Jun meant well, and she couldn't very well refuse.

"Thank you!" Liu Jiu took it. Fortunately, it was quite smooth and didn't hurt her hands.

Seeing Liu Jiu's forced expression, everyone held back their laughter.

"Brother, your skills are extraordinary." Sanqi patted Zheng Jun's arm, praising him insincerely.

"Auntie, I'll come visit you on the island during summer vacation." Gu Xuanyu made a promise to Bao Ni; his heart was already on the island.

Han Weidong's family was also in the farewell party. Due to the rush of time, they didn't have a chance to properly thank Comrade Lin Baoni.

Han Ye and Han Weiguo each drove a car to take Gu Ye and the others to the train station.

"Liu Jiu, remember me! Don't forget, I haven't defeated you yet!" Zheng Jun watched the jeep drive away, ran a few steps after it, and shouted loudly, not knowing if Liu Jiu heard him.

The children have no ulterior motives, and their feelings for each other are genuine, which is enviable.

"Gu Ye, I hope you can be transferred back soon. I'll be waiting for you in Beijing." Han Ye hugged Gu Ye, unable to bring himself to say anything more emotional.

"Listen and observe more there, learn some real skills, and wait for news from home." Han Weiguo patted his younger brother on the shoulder; this kid has grown up.

"I know, be careful yourself, and with your older brother and the others... never mind, you decide for yourself." Han Weidong swallowed his words. There were many things he didn't understand, so he let them be.

The ship's horn blared, taking my friend away!

Han Ye watched the departing train go by, then silently returned to his car and left the train station.

Bonnie and the others were still in sleeper berths. Han Weidong and his family brought a lot of delicious food for Liu Jiu and San Qi. The two little ones, like two hamsters, ate with great gusto.

Nothing much happened along the way, but the two kids had a blast eating.

“Let’s go together again next time,” Sanqi said, pulling Han Weidong’s hand and making the invitation.

Han Weidong looked bewildered; he didn't understand what it meant.

"Sanqi means that we should go to Uncle's house together again next time, and there will be delicious food when we come back together." Liujiu's translation was accurate and to the point.

Han Weidong: ...

Bonnie: (Facepalm)

Alright, we still have time. Let's have a meal at Sihaiju Restaurant and then take a boat back to the island in the afternoon.

After dinner, Bonnie left some local specialties she had brought from Beijing for Uncle Shen. It was a small gift but a token of her appreciation, and Uncle Shen was quite pleased. After all, these were local specialties from Beijing, and he had never been there before. His favorites were a pack of specially supplied cigarettes and a bottle of specially supplied liquor.

"My dear niece, I've received the gifts, I really like them. Let's take our time getting to know each other." Uncle Chen hadn't expected the gifts from Bonnie to be so appealing.

“Uncle Chen, we’ve known each other for so long, how could I not know what you like? I’m going back now, we can talk again another day. Uncle, I’m going back to the island, is there anything you want to take back?” Bonnie called out to the kitchen.

"I just got back from home yesterday, and I don't have anything to bring. You should go back now, the boat will be leaving soon."

Uncle Lin had just finished cooking a dish when he hurriedly replied and ran back to the kitchen.

After saying goodbye to Uncle Shen, Bonnie and her group carried their things and headed towards the dock.

I've been away for a while now, and I miss the taste of the sea!

Bonnie stood at the bow of the boat, facing the sea breeze. It felt so good. Island, I'm back!

Bonnie put down the gifts she brought for her parents and grandparents and prepared to go home. After being away for so long, the house must be covered in dust.

I need to go to the seaweed farm tomorrow; there's so much to do. Before I know it, it'll be spring planting season again.

"Mom, when did my second brother and his family of three leave?"

When Bonnie arrived in Beijing, she learned that her second brother's family had also gone home for vacation, and she missed them completely.

"He left yesterday, saying he had to rush back to work, otherwise he wouldn't have made it in time." Bao Ni's mother was also quite regretful. The whole family was there, except for Bao Ni's family; otherwise, they could have been reunited.

"Oh dear, I haven't met my second brother's child yet. What a pity. I don't know when I'll see him again."

After a few words with her mother, Bao Ni picked up her things and headed home.

Liu Jiu and San Qi missed their grandma and stayed behind. They still had a lot to say to their grandma and grandpa, and they also had gifts for their older brothers, Da Bao and Er Bao.

Bao Ni and Gu Ye went home, and Liu Jiu and San Qi talked to Da Bao and his brother about what happened in Beijing.
