After dinner, Bonnie stayed in the house with the child. Gu Ye had already sent a message back saying that he had a mission and couldn't come back.
Bonnie had already guessed this, and she didn't think much of it; it would be strange if he were home.
In the middle of the night, Han Bei was awakened by a series of crackling sounds. They were sleeping in the living room tonight, but the bed had been moved over, and Liu Jiu and his aunt were sleeping on the kang (a heated brick bed).
"Han Bei, you're awake too! It's so noisy outside!" Gu Xuanyu woke up as well, followed by the Zheng brothers.
"This sound is terrifying! Will the windowsill be smashed? I feel like the whole house is shaking!" Zheng Jun was a little scared; this was his first time experiencing typhoon weather.
"Xuanyu, are you awake?" Bonnie also woke up, put on her shoes and got out of bed.
"Auntie, we're awake."
Bonnie came out with a flashlight, and all four children sat up.
"Go to the kang (heated brick bed) if you're awake. Xuanyi is awake too, but Liujiu and Sanqi are still sleeping. It's your first time experiencing typhoon weather, so you might be a little unaccustomed to it." The group looked at each other, quickly put on their shoes, and ran into their aunt's room. Typhoons are indeed a bit scary.
Bonnie took a flashlight and checked the windows and roof. Fortunately, there was no damage.
"Alright, it's still early before dawn. Squeeze in and get some sleep. There will be heavy rain after the typhoon passes."
Bonnie was still sleepy, so she moved Liu Jiu to the side. There was a big kang (heated brick bed), and they could squeeze in and lie down.
"Auntie, aren't Liu Jiu and San Qi scared? Why are they sleeping so soundly?" Gu Xuanyi woke up, a little frightened.
“Typhoons hit the island many times a year, and they’re used to it.”
"I see."
With their leader in mind, the children drifted off to sleep, even though the typhoon was still raging.
