Chapter 250 Things Have Gone Wrong

When Bonnie and her group shoved and pushed their way to Sister Wan's house, she wasn't home; she was at work. She was a member of the family compound management office, responsible for assisting with the logistics and management of the compound's trivial matters.

"Comrade Lin, look, Sister Wan isn't home. Can we go home first and talk about it tomorrow? The kids need to get out of school soon, and the men should be off work and go home to cook."

Some women think it's getting late and want to go home to cook, otherwise their husbands will come home and the meal won't be ready, which will cause problems.

"Yeah, let's talk about it tomorrow. It's just a few idle words, why make such a big deal out of it?"

"You can't bully people just because you're in a position of power!"

...

Once one person started shouting, the others followed suit, thinking that with so many people, Lin Baoni could stand up to everyone!

"What, you've listed new charges against us again, thinking you can just spout nonsense because there are so many of us? I, Lin Baoni, am making this clear: no one wants to stay out of this until this matter is settled. Don't think that just because there are many of us, I can't do anything about it. Even if it goes all the way to headquarters, I'm going to get to the bottom of this."

Bonnie's face darkened. She finally understood; these people deserved to be taught a lesson. Even now, they were still throwing mud at her, accusing her of bullying others. Whose power were they relying on?

“If any of you know Sister Wan, go find her and bring her back. The sooner we resolve this, the sooner we can go home. Otherwise, we’ll just wait it out. I have plenty of time.” Bao Ni looked at the now quiet crowd; she was determined to make a big scene.

"What's going on? Who's leading this disturbance?"

Bonnie laughed. Who was this person? She knew nothing about him, yet he had already thrown a huge accusation at her.

"Sister-in-law Wan, I was just about to look for you. Comrade Lin has something to ask you."

Upon seeing Sister Wan, the military wives breathed a sigh of relief. The main character had arrived; they needed to resolve the matter quickly so they could go home. They couldn't gossip about it anymore; what a mess this was!

"Who is Comrade Lin?" Because of her work, Sister Wan was considered a big shot in the family compound. She usually acted arrogantly and no one dared to offend her.

“I am Lin Baoni. You’ve made up all sorts of stories about me, but what, you don’t even know who I am? Where did you get your information from? Where did you get those slanderous things you said about me and my Gu Ye? What is your purpose?” Lin Baoni pushed through the crowd and stood opposite Sister Wan, staring at her.

“What did I say? Aren’t those things true? If you’re afraid of what people will say, why did you do it?” Sister Wan said with certainty. She had heard these words from Sister Xu, who was very well-informed.

"Come on, let's compare our statements and see which ones you said, so we don't wrong you later." Bao Ni looked at Wan's smug and arrogant wife, suppressing her anger, and decided to settle the score later.

"Say it if you want, who's afraid of who? I didn't lie." What ability can a bunch of idle people have?

"Fine, so you're the one who called me scheming and clinging to Gu Ye, aren't you?"

"I said it," Sister Wan admitted.

"You're the one who said Gu Ye and I were in love and broke off our engagements with our respective partners, right?" Bonnie listed out the reasons one by one.

"I didn't say that. I just said that Commander Gu seemed to be my boyfriend before, but it didn't work out," Sister Wan corrected.

"You're the one who said I'm illiterate, and that a fisherwoman like me isn't good enough for Gu Ye, aren't you?"

Sister Wan said confidently, "Isn't it obvious? Everyone thinks so without me having to say it."

Bonnie took a deep breath and then asked, "Where did you hear these things? What evidence do you have?"

Sister Wan blurted out, "Sister Xu Mei said it. She asked her husband, Commander Wang. How could it be false?"

As soon as Sister Wan finished speaking, the surrounding people started to talk again, thinking that it was probably true, and that what Brigade Commander Wang said could not be false.

"Everyone heard it. Sister Wan said it, and Sister Xu Mei said it. She heard it from her husband, Commander Wang. Now that we've found the source, let's find a place to talk about it." Bao Ni didn't expect that Xu Mei would spread such rumors about chicken manure. Or was there some kind of vested interest involved?

“We’ve found the source, so why can’t we go home? We need to cook. What Sister Xu Mei said can’t be false, so what else is she saying?” It’s that sister-in-law again, always stirring up emotions.

"What grievance do you have against us? I don't even know you, and in such a short time you've already thrown a lot of mud at us."

Bonnie dragged out all the troublemakers, and she didn't let any of them get away with it.

"What are you doing, you..."

"What's going on here? Why are you all gathered here?" A woman in her fifties squeezed in, followed by two young soldiers.

"Sister-in-law Guan!"

Many military wives greeted her, but Bao Ni didn't recognize them. They must be senior wives in the family compound.

"Can anyone tell me what's going on?" Sister Guan looked quite serious.

"Sister-in-law Guan, it's just a small matter, it's just..."

“This is no small matter. I suspect you have been infiltrated by enemy agents. Otherwise, why would you slander a brigade-level officer? Why have these rumors been circulating in the family compound for so many days without anyone intervening, and why have you been avoiding me all this time?”

"I need an explanation from the military. My husband, Gu Ye, has faced life-or-death situations several times and devoted himself wholeheartedly to his work. Why are you still trying to smear him? Why have I, an outstanding military wife, become a morally corrupt role model in your eyes?"

"I'd also like to know why?" Gu Ye squeezed in with a gloomy face.

“Sun Dong, go find the division commander and ask him to uphold justice. My wife is the most beautiful military spouse. How come she has become a negative example after only a few days? I don’t believe there’s nothing fishy about this. I need an explanation.”
