Chapter 259 Mutual Help and Assistance in the Family Compound

"Baoni, how's Sanqi doing?" Aunt Zhang and the others entered the ward carrying some things.

"Sister-in-law, why are you all here? Sanqi fractured his leg and needs to rest." Bao Ni didn't expect that Sister-in-law Zhang and the others would come.

"Our Sanqi has suffered. Luckily, the weather isn't too hot now. What would we do if it were the hottest days of summer!" Aunt Zhang deeply understands Sanqi's love of cleanliness. Compared to Sanqi, her old house is nothing to look at. It's true that comparisons are the thief of joy.

"Shouldn't we drink more soup, especially bone broth?" Mrs. Chen is a local girl who married into the family and is skilled at making soup.

"Yes, the doctor said to drink more bone broth and eat nutritious food to help with recovery." Bonnie thought about whether to ask Aunt Chen to help make soup. She would ask her later whether to give her money or gifts.

"Tell me, what was the eldest son of Brigade Commander Wang thinking? He's so grown up, how could he bring himself to kick such a tiny baby? And he's a descendant of a soldier!" Xu Tao, Zhang's wife's son, was standing nearby at the time and was also shocked. After returning home, he recounted what had happened.

"Who knows? The kids in the family compound are taught from a young age to be ruthless to the enemy and united with their comrades."

The sisters-in-law discussed it amongst themselves, and they were all quite angry. Every family has a young child, and they all had a layer of worry in their hearts.

In the past, when kids in the residential compound fought, it was just roughhousing between kids of the same age, and they would make up and play together again afterward. But Wang Jun's fight with Sanqi was different; it wasn't a normal fight, it was malicious assault.

Bonnie didn't express her opinion; as a party involved, she would just wait for the military's conclusion.

Zhang's wife and the others stayed for a while, but they all had things to do at home and couldn't stay any longer. Seeing that Sanqi was alright, they were relieved and prepared to go back.

"Sanqi is fine now and will be discharged in a few days. You can all come over to visit then. Thank you so much for coming all this way to see Sanqi." Bonnie saw them off, genuinely grateful to these new friends she had made.

"Sister Chen, could you stay a little longer? I have some questions about making soup."

"Sure, why not?"

Aunt Chen stayed behind and would tell Bonnie a few tips for making soup later.

"Sister-in-law, I want to discuss something with you," Bonnie said, a little embarrassed.

"What is it? Just say it. Why be so polite with your sister-in-law?" Sister-in-law Chen was also impatient.

"I'd like to ask you to make me a pot of soup every day. My cooking skills are really not good enough, it's a waste of everything. So, should I pay you by the day or trade you something?" Bonnie finally said it, otherwise it would be really difficult to arrange, as it would be too late for Gu Ye to make soup after he got home from get off work.

"I thought it was something serious, and you've been stammering for so long. Just buy the things, and I'll cook them and bring them to you every day. Don't talk about money; it makes our relationship seem distant." Aunt Chen firmly refused to accept money, and Bao Ni didn't tear up the package either. She'd just give the child some treats later.

With the matter settled, Bonnie felt much lighter, as a major concern had been resolved. Cooking had truly been a major hurdle in Bonnie's life.

After discussing it with Aunt Chen, Bao Ni watched as Sanqi finished his injection and then carried him to the toilet.

"Sanqi, Mommy is going to buy some big bones, and then go home to get some clean clothes, your books, and your toys. Stay in bed and don't move. If you need anything, just call the nurse, okay?"

"Okay, Mom, you go ahead, I won't move." Sanqi wanted to change her clothes; this outfit smelled of sweat.

Bonnie greeted the nurse again, asking her to keep an eye on things, as this was a military hospital and safety was guaranteed.

Bonnie went home first to get money, ration coupons, and a shopping basket, then rode her bicycle to the market. Luckily, they still had big bones. After buying the groceries, she went to Aunt Chen's house and asked her to help make soup.

Bonnie also took jujubes, goji berries, dried abalone, and dried sea cucumber. She took everything she thought she could use, and even packed a bag of rock sugar.

"Bonnie, why did you bring so much? We can't use it all. These sea cucumbers and abalone are quite big!"

"Sister Chen, I don't know how to make soup, and I don't know exactly what I need. Just use what you need, and let me know if it's not enough or if you're missing anything."

Bonnie would rather have more than let Sister Chen get a share.

"This is enough. I'll start cooking it this afternoon, and you can come pick it up tonight." Aunt Chen thought that Bao Ni was a really honest person and very generous, even though it was so much stuff.

"Sister-in-law, there are quite a few bones. Find a bigger pot, put in more water, and let your child drink some too, to help with calcium."

After finishing her sentence, Bonnie hurried back to the hospital, leaving Sanqi alone there, which made her somewhat worried.

After Bonnie changed Sanqi's clothes, the little guy looked adorable; he's such a clean lad.

Sanqi has temporarily adapted to life in the hospital, but the logistics officers in the army are worried. Brigade Commander Gu and Brigade Commander Wang are both high-ranking officials, and the key issue is that there is no precedent for this, so they don't know what to do.

Later, the matter was reported to higher authorities, and eventually even Commander Jiang found out.

"When did Brigade Commander Wang's son, who is in junior high school, kick Brigade Commander Gu's five-year-old son and break his leg?"

A division commander nearby also knew about the incident. "It seems to have happened just a couple of days ago. My grandson was playing on the playground when he saw the Gu family's daughter rush over and start fighting with the Wang brigade commander's son. He ran over too and saw the little boy lying on the ground covered in sweat."

"Commander Gu's daughter doesn't seem that old, but she's got guts! She actually dared to go!" Another political commissar remarked after hearing about it.

"She's not very old, maybe seven or eight. It seems she's been doing morning exercises with Commander Gu since she was little. She's quite a formidable little girl. In just a few rounds, she subdued Commander Wang's eldest son. The key thing is, even though she was so angry, she managed to control her strength and didn't hurt any vital organs."

Several influential figures in the military, as they talked, the topic gradually veered off course.

Finally, some people brought the topic back to how to resolve the issue of Wang Jun assaulting someone.

The child is too young to be sent to a labor camp like an adult.

"I have a suggestion for you to consider," one of the staff officers said, offering his opinion.

"Isn't the North Sea Fleet short of a brigade commander? We intercepted one of their brigade commanders, so we should return one to them. It's a matter of reciprocity."

Everyone had their own thoughts. The brigade commander of the North Sea Fleet and Brigade Commander Wang were not the same person. However, there was nothing that could be done about Brigade Commander Wang's family dragging him down.

The leaders had already reached a conclusion on this matter, and after a final discussion, it was basically settled.

Wang Haiyang's originally promising future has stagnated and may even regress due to his wife and son's constant demon-catching efforts.

Commander Xu and Wang Haiyang were the last to know about this, by which time it was already a done deal and there was no room for maneuver.

They had no choice but to accept it.
