"I dived down to Haidilao. Look, this giant conch! My daughter Sanqi loves stir-fried conch meat with chili peppers. And these fish, they're only available in spring. They swim away after spawning. It was so hard to catch these, but they've all gone..."
Bonnie looked at the basin of seafood with great familiarity, anticipating a delicious meal that evening.
"Baoni, you can dive?" Aunt Zhang had never heard Baoni mention it before.
"Yes, I've known how to do it since I was little. I used to go out to sea with my dad and the others. It was a lot of fun."
Bonnie looked at Aunt Zhang's small basin, took a basket from her own storage room, and started throwing it around, which made Aunt Zhang shout, "Enough, Bonnie, enough!"

In the evening, Gu Ye showed off his culinary skills, preparing steamed fish, stir-fried conch meat, squid and chives, braised octopus... and also steamed Shandong-style steamed buns made by Bao Ni. The two little ones ate with beaming smiles, while Gu Ye kept burping.
The neighbor, Mrs. Zhang, also cooked a table full of seafood, making the men think she had found money and bought so much. Although seafood isn't expensive here, so much variety still adds up to quite a bit.
"What? Commander Gu's wife can dive? She's the one who caught them all."
Aunt Zhang glared at her husbands, making a big fuss, while the children gained a new understanding of Aunt Gu—she was too amazing!
