Before setting off, Bao Ni and Gu Ye returned to the Lin family home to say goodbye and give some instructions to Bao Ni's family.
"When you go to Gu Ye's house, control your temper, don't fight with people easily, and don't feel inferior." Grandpa Lin's underlying meaning was that he should neither cause trouble nor be afraid of trouble.
"Grandpa, don't worry, I know what I'm doing. Gu Ye told me that his family is large, and only a few of them will truly welcome us. We mainly want to go back to the Martyrs' Cemetery to see my mother-in-law and get to know his brother and sister-in-law better. We don't care about the others." Bao Ni understood that, apart from Gu Ye's older brother, those people all needed to rely on the old man and had something to ask of him.
She and Gu Ye wouldn't be going to Beijing anytime soon, so there was really nothing that required the family to waste resources on. Gu Ye relied on his own abilities, and as long as his older brother was around, no one could take credit for his work.
"Baoni, Gu Ye has a stepmother, so you should be careful." Lin's mother was worried that the Gu family members would be difficult to get along with, especially the relationship between the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law.
"Mom, don't worry. Gu Ye, his father, and stepmother are enemies. They'll have to avoid us." A mistress and a scumbag, Bao Ni wouldn't care.
Gu Ye listened to Lin Baoni's carefree remarks and wanted to laugh. If that hypocritical woman Xu Fang had run into his Baoni, she would have been either dead or seriously injured.
Gu Ye didn't know why, but he was just so sure in his heart.
There were quite a few members of the Lin family today, including my third uncle and my youngest uncle's family, a large group of adults and children.
"Sis, are you going to Beijing to watch the flag-raising ceremony? To climb the Great Wall? To eat Peking duck? To..."
The younger ones chattered excitedly, thinking that going to Beijing was something to be proud of, since that's where the big leaders live.
"Okay, I'll take pictures wherever I go, so you can feast your eyes when I get back. I'll eat roast duck, hot pot, and tell you how it tastes! Haha..."
Bonnie was playing with her younger siblings, which made them yell and scream, but they didn't dare to do anything to Bonnie because their fighting abilities were not equal!
The Lin family is large, but they have a good relationship.
Lin's father had a lot of influence with his younger siblings, and they listened to their older brother. This was mainly because Lin's father was not selfish and took good care of the younger siblings.
The next generation of cousins followed suit, and their relationship was no different from that of blood relatives, especially towards Bonnie, who had amazing fighting skills, whom they treated with great respect.
Bonnie is not only incredibly strong, but her familiarity with the sea, her swimming, diving, and navigation skills are all top-notch on their island. When faced with absolute power, everything else can be ignored, even gender.
The whole family had a harmonious meal together. Bonnie and her friend went home. Tomorrow they will take a boat out of the island and go to the city to catch the train.
They slept soundly through the night. The next day, after having breakfast at the cafeteria, Bao Ni and Gu Ye boarded the boat, carrying their large and small bags of luggage.
Gu Ye has been living on the island for five or six years since graduation, and he hasn't taken a single annual leave. This time, he took it all at once.
"Battalion Commander Gu, heading out?" A fellow soldier on the boat greeted him.
"Yeah, I'm taking my wife home for the New Year." Gu Ye acted incredibly cold outside, a stark contrast to his behavior at home.
"Ah, ah, that's good." The man probably didn't expect Gu Ye to reply to him, and was a little incoherent.
Then there was silence, no sound.
After getting off the ship, they boarded the train. By the time they got off the train, Bonnie was completely exhausted. It was too tiring; she would have preferred to stay on the ship.
"How are you feeling? Are you feeling unwell?" Gu Ye had never seen Bonnie like this before; she was listless and had no energy at all.
"It's nothing, it's just that the car ride was too long, my feet weren't touching the ground, and the air circulation was poor." Bonnie took a deep breath; the air on the island was noticeably better than here, it was so dry.
"Gu Ye, over here."
Bonnie looked up and, following the sound, saw a man about the same age as Gu Ye. He exuded a roguish air about him, and this guy was no pushover either!
"Oh, this must be your sister-in-law? I'm Han Ye, Gu Ye's best brother. Welcome to the capital!"
"Hello, Lin Baoni." Baoni wasn't in the mood for small talk and just said politely.
"Let's go, Bonnie isn't feeling well in the car, let's go back and lie down for a while."
Gu Ye's cold tone made Bao Ni feel uncomfortable and chilly.
After putting his things away, Gu Ye climbed into the back seat and let Bao Ni lean against him; it was still more than an hour's drive.
Han Ye watched Gu Ye's series of actions and couldn't believe it. Was this still the Gu Ye he knew? When did he learn to be so chivalrous? He shuddered.
"What are you doing standing there if you're not driving?" Looking at the dazed Han Ye, Gu Ye felt that the guy had gone stupid since he hadn't been back for several years.
"Ah, let's go, let's go right away."
Oh my god, that was terrifying. I need to calm down. I'll go find some of my buddies to calm my nerves later. Gu Ye is too scary.
Bonnie leaned against Gu Ye in a daze the whole way, not paying any attention to the scenery outside the car.
"Brother Ye, we've arrived."
Bonnie heard the sound, sat up, and saw the jeep parked in front of a three-story building.
"arrive?"
"Okay, we're here. Get out of the car and go inside to lie down for a while." Gu Ye helped Bao Ni out, afraid that she might bump her head again while she was still drowsy.
In Han Ye's eyes, Gu Ye's wife looked young and was in poor health, so Gu Ye had to take care of her in every way.
"You guys go in, I'm not going in. I'm going to return the car. Let's get together another day, Junzi and the others are waiting." Han Ye drove off, so dashing!
I don't know if anyone is home. I haven't seen a single person yet. It's so quiet.
Gu Ye pushed open the door and entered the house; there was no one in the living room.
"Is this Gu Ye?" A middle-aged woman in her forties walked out of the kitchen and asked tentatively.
"Yes, who are you?"
“I am a service worker here. My family members are not here. The commander instructed that you should return in the next few days.”
