Chapter 302 One Two Three Four Five New Neighbors

After finishing the cabinet, Bonnie went straight home.

At this time of day, the family compound is relatively quiet, as most people are at work. Especially in these buildings, where many officers of brigade rank or higher reside, their families have mostly been provided with jobs.

At home, everything was almost tidied up. Bonnie had nothing to do, so she picked out a book to read.

She has read a lot of books and taken some notes in the past two years. Her next step is to try writing something.

Although Bonnie wasn't a literature enthusiast, she had read some classic works.

Spurred on by Lao Jiang, she didn't want to join the army, but she loved military novels, crime novels, and martial arts novels, and she read all of Mr. Jin's works without missing a single one.

Bonnie had a preliminary idea, but she wasn't in a hurry.

In the evening, Liu Jiu and San Qi came home from school in good spirits.

"How are you adjusting to the new school?"

"It's alright. I'm in the same class as Gu Xuanyi, and he takes good care of me." Liu Jiu can get along well anywhere and has no shortage of friends.

"I'm alright too. The students here are quite hygienic and clean." Sanqi's focus was different.

Bonnie was relieved to see that both children were adapting well, and she wasn't really worried.

The siblings are a pair, one with explosive fighting skills and the other with explosive sharp tongue skills.

Dinner was cooked by Liu Jiu and San Qi together. Bao Ni had already steamed the buns and prepared and chopped the vegetables. The two siblings each cooked two dishes, which was just enough for the family of four.

When Gu Ye returned, the last dish had just been cooked.

"I've come at just the right time. Thank you all for your hard work."

Gu Ye changed his clothes, washed his hands, and ate.

"Dad works hard too!" Liu Jiu put a steamed bun on her dad's plate.

"Dad, eat your vegetables. Mom, eat your vegetables." Sanqi also served food to her parents. Bao Ni and Gu Ye were so happy. Whose child is this? How can she be so good?

"Clang, thud..."

The warm atmosphere of the family was broken by a sudden noise.

"Who lives upstairs? Why is it so noisy?" Sanqi especially disliked the noise.

"It seems to be the Hao family, the brigade commander of the motorized infantry brigade, including his son, daughter-in-law, and grandson, a whole bunch of them."

The noise was quite loud yesterday, so Gu Ye specifically inquired about the upstairs neighbors.

"Alright, you'll get used to it. If it goes too far, I'll go talk to them and tell them to be more careful."

Bonnie also disliked the occasional noise from upstairs, but there was nothing she could do. When you have inconsiderate neighbors, there's not much you can do. This kind of thing is common even decades later, and there's no good solution.

After finishing their meal, Liu Jiu and San Qi had finished their homework and read their books, so they went downstairs to play.

Gu Ye and Bao Ni didn't go downstairs; they were each busy with their own things.

A week has passed in the blink of an eye, and it's time for another rest day.

Today, Brother Gu's family is moving, and Bao Ni and her family went to help.

Even on rest days, the family compound becomes lively.

Bonnie also met her neighbors across the hall, a family of four who had taken leave a few days ago to go back to their hometown.

"Hello, I'm Jiang Dachun, who lives across the hall. This is my wife, Guan Xiao'e. We went back to our hometown a few days ago and just got back today." Comrade Jiang was very welcoming.

Gu Ye also introduced his family. They were all busy, so the two families exchanged brief greetings and parted ways.

Liu Jiu and San Qi had run far away, while Bao Ni and Gu Ye slowly followed behind.

"These two are quite far apart in age, aren't they? Could they be another Commander Yang?" Bonnie thought there must be a story behind this older man and younger woman.

"I don't know. They seem to be quite far apart in age. Whether they're the second Commander Yang or not is none of our business. If you get along with them, then you can try to get to know them. If you don't, then just ignore them."

Gu Ye was under forty years old, the youngest among officers of his rank. He had climbed the ranks step by step through his own efforts; he didn't need Bao Ni to make connections with people, it was unnecessary, and it didn't suit Bao Ni's personality.

The two walked and talked, and soon arrived at Brother Gu's house.

Everything is packed. The furniture doesn't need to be moved, but there's a lot of other stuff too. They'll be taking advantage of this move to send a lot of things to their own courtyard house.

The courtyard house left by his mother, a four-section house, has been empty all this time. There is a secret room inside, and Gu Ze plans to put some things there.

The two courtyards, each with four sections, are identical in size and layout, one for Gu Ze and one for Gu Ye.

Gu Ye and his brother moved their belongings to their house, while Bao Ni helped her sister-in-law tidy up the house.

Sister-in-law Gu also told Bonnie about her current neighbors, something Sister-in-law Gu had specifically looked into.

"The person living across from you is Jiang Dachun, the second-in-command of logistics. His wife is a saleswoman at the supply and marketing cooperative. They are an older man and a younger woman. It is said that Jiang Dachun's first wife passed away, leaving behind two sons and a daughter, all of whom work in their hometown."

Their hometown isn't far from here. His wife used to be a dancer in a performing arts troupe, but she got injured, and somehow they ended up getting married.

Sister-in-law Gu had never paid attention to this kind of thing before, so she wasn't very clear about it.

Because Bonnie and the others were moving back, Gu Da Sao only started to learn about the housing after it was allocated, so the time was tight and she didn't get a very detailed understanding.

"Thank you for your hard work, sister-in-law. I'm not good at interpersonal communication. Without you, I would be completely clueless."

Bonnie is genuinely grateful to her sister-in-law, who has taken good care of her ever since she married Gu Ye.

"What's the big deal? We're really close relatives. The family upstairs from you doesn't have a very good reputation."

The man was the brigade commander of a motorized infantry brigade, and the woman was a mess hall worker. They had four children; both daughters were married. Now, their two married sons lived with them. The family was noisy and argumentative, and quite well-known.
