The next day, Bonnie took her documents to the school, completed the onboarding process, and became a full-time employee of the affiliated school.
Because the situation was so sudden, the school library hadn't been open for a long time and needed to be tidied up as soon as possible, since summer vacation was just around the corner.
Besides Bonnie and the two new hires, the school originally had three staff members in the library: the librarian and the other two were also staff members.
The library is a separate row of bungalows, with blue bricks and red tiles, and it is very bright and spacious.
The curator is a retired teacher in his fifties who, due to health reasons, can no longer stand on the podium for long periods of time.
The library has been reorganized, with books categorized into several main types: primary school, middle school, high school, and teachers' books.
Each category occupies a classroom, and one person is responsible for one category. This saves time and makes management easier.
Bonnie graduated from high school and was assigned to the junior high school group, while the other military spouse graduated from junior high school and was assigned to the primary school group. The school's original two staff members were from the senior high school group and the teaching staff group, respectively.
Bonnie thought this was the best way; each of them could manage their own affairs, thus avoiding the constant bickering and annoyance caused by her doing more work and him doing less.
"Alright, everything's been assigned. From now on, everyone will be responsible for their own area. For the remaining public areas, we'll arrange a duty roster and take turns. I don't tolerate any slackers. Do your job well, and if you can't, just apply to leave. This area isn't for 'spoiled brats'."
The old man was very serious; I heard he used to teach physics.
"Understood, curator."
The curator waved his hand, signaling everyone to disperse and get to work.
Each classroom is quite large, with three big windows, making it very bright, but the dust is too thick.
Bonnie first swept away the dust, then wiped it with a damp cloth, changed the water, and wiped it again.
I wiped it three times before the water stopped turning black and the room became much cleaner.
Bonnie cleaned all three windows, removing the stains from the window frames and making the glass so clear you could see your reflection.
After a morning of hard work, Bonnie was exhausted and her back ached; she hadn't been this active in a long time.
"Comrade Lin, you've cleaned this up really well."
The senior teacher in charge of the high school group praised Bonnie repeatedly after seeing the classroom she was in charge of.
"Teacher Ma, thank you for the compliment!"
Bonnie also felt that she had done a good job, and that her efforts throughout the morning had not been in vain.
The curator also came over, glanced at it, and said, "Comrade Xiao Lin did a good job; he was diligent and meticulous."
The others glanced at the classroom Bonnie was in charge of, then at their own classrooms, and quickly went back to continue working.
Sister Lan muttered to herself, feeling that Lin Baoni was too attention-seeking, which made her feel obligated to wipe herself down as well.
Bonnie had no idea what others were thinking. She cleaned the classroom and the bookshelves. In the afternoon, she moved the books outside to blow off the dust and air them out.
Bonnie ate lunch at the school cafeteria. That's great, she won't have to worry about what to eat anymore.
In the afternoon, Bonnie moved all the junior high school books outside to air them out, and then wiped the tables and chairs clean and arranged them properly.
"Xiaolin, you're really fast! The classroom is all packed up and the books have been moved out."
Teacher Ma was also carrying books out, and when she saw what Bonnie had done, she praised her again.
Bonnie smiled but didn't say anything. She was embarrassed by the praise; she was still good at arguing.
There were quite a few books in the junior high section, several hundred in total. Bonnie took a dry rag and started wiping away the dust while sorting them.
All the books were sorted out in one afternoon. We'll move them back to the classroom first, and then sort them further tomorrow.
After locking the door, Bonnie went home from get off work.
They get off work half an hour earlier than the students, so they can buy groceries and go home to cook.
No need today, Gu Ye is resting at home.
Bonnie hummed a song and entered the family compound in a cheerful mood.
"Did you know that the Gu family's daughter is back? She came back from Yunnan Province with her husband and two children."
There were quite a few people in the compound after get off work, and the ones gossiping were a few older people.
Which Gu family?
"It's Gu Xiangdong's family, his wife Xu Fang. She used to be so arrogant. Now, none of her three children are any good, so she's ashamed and doesn't go out much anymore."
The speaker was Xu Fang's neighbor, with whom she had never gotten along.
"Ah, is it the one whose first wife left behind three children? I heard her two sons are doing quite well." This old lady was well-informed and knew a bit about it.
"Yes, the boss works for the government now, and he's a high-ranking official. The lower-ranking one has also been transferred back; he's a brigade commander now."
Xu Fang, this neighbor, often eavesdropped and knew everything about the Gu family.
"Yesterday, her daughter came back, and the whole family was arguing and making a scene. Gu Bei's wife is never home, she doesn't care about the children or the husband, and the arguments are really fierce."
Xu Fang and her daughter couldn't win an argument with Gu Bei's wife, and in the end, they even hit Gu Mei. Gu Xiangdong smashed a teacup before things calmed down. Gu Bei's wife left after the fight and didn't come back that night; nobody knows where she slept.
"Oh dear, where can she sleep? That young wife dresses up like a vixen all day long, and she's out there all the time."
Several older women chuckled, reminding Bonnie of the hens she raised.
"Tian Caitou, you shameless bastard, you love eavesdropping and talking nonsense."
I don't know when, but Xu Fang and Gu Mei came over. Bao Ni was listening intently and didn't notice.
"Xu Fang, do I need to eavesdrop on your family's messy affairs? You two have already told everyone about it."
Tian Caitou, whom Xu Fang mentioned, was equally assertive. Having been Xu Fang's neighbor for so many years, he had had enough.
"You have no right to go around talking about my family's affairs. You have no manners."
Xu Fang prides herself on being a civilized person and would never hurl insults at her parents.
"You're so well-mannered. If you're so well-mannered, how did you come to have Gu Mei? She was married for less than seven months and gave birth to a full-term baby. Do you think no one knows that?"
