Chapter 312 All the houses have been rented out

The house was all cleaned up and had its first tenant; Bonnie was overjoyed.

"Kids, what do you want to eat tonight? You've all been working so hard these past few days, let's treat you."

When Bonnie is happy, she wants to spend money.

"Roast duck!" Liu Jiu wanted some.

"Braised pork belly, stir-fried pork slices, braised fish..."

Bonnie could tell they were craving meat.

After checking the time, Bonnie took the children home first, as they needed to get their tickets before buying anything.

"Xuanyi, you and Liujiu go buy roast duck, I'll go to the state-run restaurant to buy groceries, Sanqi and Xuanhao stay home, I'll buy you some soda when I get back."

"Buy a few more bottles, and popsicles too."

Sanqi made the request, and Baoni agreed. She then called Sister-in-law Gu and asked them to come over for dinner that evening.

The group split up and reunited at home in less than an hour.

Bonnie steamed a big pot of rice; how could such a hearty dish be served without rice?

The dishes looked too greasy, so Bao Ni asked Sanqi and Liujiu to make a bowl of home-style cold dishes, and she made a persimmon with white sugar.

When Gu Ye and the others returned, the food was already on the table.

"Quick, wash your hands and eat. The kids are drooling."

Bonnie greeted them and asked Gu Ye and Brother Gu if they wanted to drink.

"Have a little, we'll just have a small glass." Gu Ye looked at the dishes on the table, thinking it would be a waste not to drink some of the food.

"You've used up your entire month's worth of meat coupons, haven't you?" Sister-in-law Gu clicked her tongue in amazement when she saw the dishes on the table.

"That's about right. Eat your fill if you want to, and if you run out, we'll think of something else."

Bonnie and the others were used to it; it was the same before. With a month's worth of meat coupons, they could enjoy two good meals and feel satisfied.

Brother Gu started eating, and the children joined in picking up food.

"Baoni, is your yard all tidied up?" Aunt Gu was quite curious; she had heard from Xuan Yi that he was going to rent it out.

"It's all set up. We've made four rooms, divided into one-bedroom and one-living room layouts."

Moreover, one room has already been rented out. I'll go to the neighborhood committee tomorrow to talk to them. There are a lot of people who want to rent a room right now.

My yard is very tidy, better than most houses.

Bonnie was very confident; her little courtyard was much better than the crowded tenement.

"I didn't expect you to have such a sharp mind. You're amazing."

Sister-in-law Gu's praise was genuine.

"That's all I aspire to. I told Gu Ye that I have some spare money and I plan to buy two more houses, rent them out, and become a landlady from now on."

Bonnie thought it was wonderful and took the opportunity to remind Sister-in-law Gu.

"Landlady, that's an interesting way to put it. My family has lent their yard to us, so I need to talk about the rent."

Sister-in-law Gu was thinking about how she had lent her house to her cousin's family for several years without charging rent. Now that her children would have more expenses, she couldn't let them live there for free.

"Bonnie, are you still planning to buy a house? Are there any for sale?"

Sister-in-law Gu was also tempted; the rent for Bao Ni's courtyard was several tens of yuan a month.

"Take it slow. Now that more people have been exonerated, there should be houses for sale."

After listening to Bonnie's words, Gu Ze and his sister-in-law seemed to be deep in thought.

After dinner, the children went out to play. Sister-in-law Gu and Bao Ni cleaned up the dishes, while Gu Ye talked to his older brother about work.

"Baoni, do you think buying a house is a good investment? Should I buy one too?" Aunt Gu felt that since her work unit provides housing and her family already has a courtyard house and a small yard, she wouldn't be able to live in so many houses.

But today, Bonnie's rental experience showed her something different.

“Sister-in-law, now that we can take the college entrance exam, and the educated youth are returning to the city one after another, housing will become increasingly scarce. If you buy a house, you shouldn’t lose money.”

Sister-in-law Gu had a plan in mind, and she started gossiping about things in the family compound. This was a recurring theme in their conversation.

"Gu Ye, I'm relieved now."

Brother Gu used to worry about Gu Ye, but now he's truly relieved and can let go.

"Brother, I'll be fine. You're leaving at the end of the year, so please take good care of yourself."

Gu Ye wasn't worried about his brother's work ability; his brother had always been unharmed even during the most difficult times in the past.

"You don't need to worry about things at home. I'll visit Grandpa regularly so he won't give me any reason to complain. I'll also keep an eye on the others so they won't hold you back."

Unlike his brother, Gu Ye wouldn't turn against any member of the Gu family who was dishonest.

We had a rare opportunity to talk a lot, and only after the child was able to come back did we disperse.

We're going to the courtyard again tomorrow, so Bonnie and the others should wash up and go to bed.

After Gu Ye left for work, Bao Ni took the children to the courtyard again.

As soon as I opened the door, my older sister came over.

"Young lady, this is my eldest son's family. They've come to look at the house."

Bonnie looked at the group of people outside the door: three adults and two children.

The eldest sister's son is twenty-four or twenty-five years old, and his wife is about the same age. The two got married in the countryside where they were sent to work. After returning to the city from their jobs, they all brought their wives and children back with them, and Bao Ni had a good impression of them.

"Come in, take a look around, and see which room you'd like to stay in."

Bonnie looked at the couple; they were dressed neatly and cleanly, and the child was also well-groomed.

“We want to rent the east wing,” the eldest sister’s daughter-in-law decided.

"Can."

Bonnie felt that although the east wing was a bit small, it was relatively more private.

"Comrade Lin, I would like to ask if I can clear some land on the east side to grow some vegetables."

Bonnie glanced at the young woman; she was quite efficient.

What's your name?

"Hu Xiaohong".
