Chapter 314 Bao Ni's Mother is Angry

Hao Mei left in a bad mood, but Bao Ni didn't care.

She thought that was the end of it, but unexpectedly, a few days later, she received a call from her mother.

"Mother, do you miss me?"

"Don't even think about it. I heard from Hao Mei that she wants you to help her take care of her child. Why didn't you talk to your second brother about it? They're so spoiled. Even if you don't go to Beijing, they'll still be throwing the kids on the main road, saying they're some kind of grandson of the Lin family."

When has the Lin family ever lacked grandchildren? They're responsible for their own children; why should they rely on others? Your second brother isn't home, otherwise I would have yelled at him on the phone. What has he ever done for you? How dare he?"

Bonnie's mother yelled on the phone, and although Bonnie got scolded, she was secretly pleased.

"Mother, don't worry, when has your daughter ever suffered a loss? Hao Mei is quite perceptive and didn't say anything more, so I didn't say anything either. Are you doing well at home? When are you going to come and stay for a while?"

Bonnie wanted her parents to come and stay for a while. They had a place to stay at home, or at the very least, a courtyard house.

“Everything is fine. Your grandparents are in good health, and your father doesn’t care about things anymore, so I’m much more relaxed. Lin Bo and her sister are both in school now. With the kids at home, where can your father and I go? Besides, we’re used to being on the streets.”

After finishing her business, Bonnie's mother hurriedly hung up the phone, as phone calls are quite expensive.

Even after hanging up the phone, Bao Ni was still angry. She couldn't get in touch with Lin Tao, and she couldn't get over it.

Her son, Bonnie, has helped the family so much for them, and their brothers are really not being fair.

Hao Mei's family favored sons over daughters, so she assumed the Lin family did too, but that was wishful thinking. Her daughter, Bao Ni, was someone they wouldn't trade for even several sons; she was their true darling.

Bonnie was surprised that Hao Mei would complain to her mother; it was quite interesting.

This was just a minor incident, and Bonnie quickly forgot about it.

Tomorrow, I'm taking some of the kids to plant autumn vegetables.

Bonnie prepared cabbage seeds, radish seeds, carrots, bok choy, and coriander seeds.

Ring bell…

Bonnie answered the phone, and her sister-in-law's voice came through, "Bonnie, are you planting vegetables tomorrow?"

"Yes, we'll plant cabbages and radishes tomorrow. It'll be time to plant them soon."

"Tomorrow is a day off. Your older brother and I will go too. Is Gu Ye off?" Gu's sister-in-law has never done much farm work. She only went with her unit once or twice when they were learning about agriculture before, but she didn't really get the hang of it.

"Gu Ye hasn't come back yet. I'll ask him tonight. Let's bring some ingredients and have a barbecue in the yard tomorrow. It's been a while since I've done it, and I'm craving it."

Bonnie recalled her picnic in the south, which was delicious and fun.

Just as Bonnie hung up the phone, Gu Ye pushed the door open and came in.

"You're back. Are you off tomorrow?"

"Rest? What's wrong? Do you have any instructions, sir?"

Gu Ye teased Bao Ni.

"Ugh, my sister-in-law and the others have tomorrow off and they're going to go plant vegetables. I was thinking, how about we bring some food, have some barbecue, and some wild vegetables?"

"Remembering that picnic?"

Upon hearing this, Gu Ye immediately understood what his wife was thinking. It hadn't been easy for her to keep following him in his transfers, but this time, barring any unforeseen circumstances, he wouldn't be transferred again.

"I mainly want to eat barbecue skewers. Ask Han Ye if he can get some meat, and I'll buy some vegetables and invite them over for a get-together."

Bonnie felt bad about troubling Han Ye all the time, mainly because she was also familiar with Zhou Weihong and it didn't feel awkward to eat and drink together.

Gu Ye accepted the task and made the arrangements by phone.

Bonnie started rummaging through her things, making sure she had all the food she needed to bring for tomorrow.

The next day, the three families went to the courtyard house together.

Bonnie and Sister-in-law Gu prepared a lot of food, but Han Ye prepared the most because he had connections.

The arrival of the two vehicles at the courtyard caused quite a stir, as bicycles were rare these days, let alone cars.

The bus was packed with people, like it was filled with steamed buns. Luckily, there are no restrictions on the number of passengers now, otherwise there wouldn't be enough room for everyone.

"Wow, this cleanup has taken up a lot of land!"

Han Ye never expected that he could clear out such a piece of land, which would definitely be enough to grow vegetables.

Bonnie was also quite pleased, knowing that her efforts had not been in vain.

Bonnie and Gu Ye started making mounds. Brother Gu and Han Ye had never done this kind of work before, so they couldn't help much and could only gather the ingredients for the meal later.

Liu Jiu and San Qi found a suitable spot and prepared a traditional earthen stove for grilling large skewers.

"Six Nine, what are you doing?"

Han Ye's children watched Liu Jiu playing with mud and didn't quite understand.

"We'll build a clay stove; we can use it for grilling skewers and cooking things later."

Liu Jiu's technique is skillful; it's clear this isn't her first time doing this. She's really impressive.

Han Ye and Gu Ze looked at Liu Jiu and San Qi, who were surrounded by others, and they were truly envious.

"Gu Ye is really lucky. He married a good wife and had a wonderful son and daughter. Don't underestimate Liu Jiu and San Qi just because they're still young. They'll achieve great things in the future."

Han Ye was genuinely envious. His three children seemed fine, but compared to Liu Jiu and Liu Jiu, they were still lacking, especially in terms of self-care ability and willpower.

"Yes, God was kind to him, allowing him to find salvation in his life. Without Bonnie, it's hard to say what his situation would be now; the worst outcome would have been sacrificing his life for his country."

Gu Ze can still recall Gu Ye's cold expression as he said that his greatest wish was to die for his country, like the soldiers of ancient times, wrapped in horsehide.

Han Ye also realized this; he and Gu Ye had been hanging out together since their "naked doll" days, so he knew him too well.

The two of them looked at Gu Ye and Bao Ni, who were working on the farm together. They hadn't done anything, they were just working together, but the atmosphere around them was just nice.
