Chapter 316 School's Starting Soon, Time to Get New Clothes

It's almost the end of August, and school will start in a few days.

Bonnie looked at Liu Jiu, who was already over 1.5 meters tall and a graceful young woman. If her skin were a little fairer, she would be even better.

Several months have passed since Bonnie returned from the south, and her skin has improved a bit, turning from dark to wheat-colored.

Liu Jiu's skin changed from deep black to light black, but in short, it didn't escape its original black color.

The biggest change is in Panax notoginseng. I don't know if it's due to the aloe vera or the effects of Pechoin, but although Panax notoginseng hasn't become white and tender, it has also changed away from its black color.

Before going to bed, everyone took a shower. Bonnie scooped out a little face cream and carefully applied it to her face. Although it was a bit oily, Bonnie endured it for the sake of good skin.

Liu Jiu casually wiped her short hair, then wiped her face, and that was it.

She refused any face cream.

She is 37.1 meters tall and weighs less than 30 kilograms, which is within the standard range.

The little boy sat in front of the mirror, holding a clean aloe vera leaf in one hand and applying the juice to his face with the other. His movements were skillful, covering every nook and cranny, even more meticulously than Bonnie's.

Liu Jiu looked at her younger brother and thought he was being too slow.

"Sanqi, at this rate, when will your aloe vera plant ever have more than three leaves?"

Liu Jiu was worried for that aloe vera plant. It tried so hard to grow, but before it could even grow properly, it was taken over by Sanqi.

"It's okay, my skin is already pretty good now. After a while, I won't need to use aloe vera on my face so frequently."

Sanqi gently patted his face with her hands to help with absorption; she didn't know how he knew how to do that.

Bonnie and Liu Jiu exchanged a smile. Well, that's her delicate little boy.

"Tomorrow, I'll take you shopping for clothes. School starts soon, and your old clothes are all too short. Think about what kind of clothes you want for tomorrow."

Liu Jiu had no preference for clothing styles, except for one thing: "Mom, I'll wear any style except dresses."

Bonnie knew that her precious daughter's choice would never change.

"Liu Jiu, Gu Yun Chu, why don't you give it a try? Your mother gave you such good looks, and with your height and weight, if you wore a dress, you'd definitely be a beautiful sight."

Liu Jiu remained unmoved; she found wearing a skirt troublesome and caused her to stumble while walking.

"Mom, even if my sister wears a dress, if she wants to be a beautiful sight, you have to look at her from behind, at a static position, without her moving."

Sanqi thought to himself, “My sister has hair that’s barely longer than a buzz cut, a face that’s so black it’s almost shiny, and a gait that seems to take a meter’s distance with each step. Oh my god, save me!”

Sanqi couldn't help but shudder at the thought of that scene.

"Gu Xuanming, you've really gotten too cocky, you'll say anything now!"

Liu Jiu got angry after being criticized by San Qi. He was really like a child who would climb on the roof if not disciplined for three days.

When Sanqi saw that his sister was angry, he ran to his room. However, how could he possibly be a match for his sister? As soon as he touched the doorknob, he was subdued by her and had no chance to fight back.

"Sister, I was wrong, I was wrong. I'll put aloe vera on you and make you even whiter than me, I promise."

Sanqi gave in, and his sister suppressed him so much that he couldn't move at all.

"No need, I think I'm fine as I am, perfect."

Liu Jiu remained unmoved; she wasn't going to apply aloe vera, it was all sticky.

"Sis, sis, I'll make you something delicious, braised pork and chicken stew with mushrooms, how about that?"

Sanqi changed his conditions; he's a good cook.

"Add another dish of braised sea cucumber with scallions."

"Okay, okay, let go now, or your hand will be ruined and you'll lose everything."

Sanqi agreed quickly, saying that he would do anything, not just braised sea cucumber with scallions, but also braised abalone.

"I know exactly how much force I should use, don't exaggerate. Three dishes, don't forget."

Liu Jiu clapped Sanqi again, and that's what happens when you're so cheeky.

Bonnie watched the siblings playing without interfering. Liu Jiu won, and she also got a good meal. She wondered if San Qi's New Year's money was enough to buy chicken and meat; she'd already lost too much, she had no memory.

The next day, the mother and her two children took a car to the department store and took a lot of the cloth coupons they had saved.

They were in the south before, where their clothes were thin, mostly short sleeves.

This time it won't work; we need to prepare both autumn and winter clothes, especially cotton-padded jackets and trousers.

Bonnie has been saving up her fabric coupons lately. She can buy some flawed fabric from Sister Wei Hong and the others, since it's hard to find good quality fabric for outerwear.

The main reason is that Bonnie can't make clothes or mend them. People with skillful hands can easily avoid flaws or find ways to patch them up, but Bonnie can't do either.

The department store has a lot of ready-made clothes, but the prices aren't cheap!

"Mom, how about we buy some fabric and have it made? This is too expensive."

Liu Jiu saw a shirt that cost more than ten yuan, not including the cloth coupons, and the style was just so-so.

"If none of them are to your liking, how about Panax notoginseng?"

Bonnie actually thought these clothes were all pretty much the same, all baggy and ill-fitting.

"It's too fat, it's so loose and wobbly."

Sanqi didn't find anything he really liked. He liked white shirts, but the white shirts for children that were sold now were all too big.

Unable to find a suitable match, Bonnie went to a post office and called Aunt Gu.

"Sister-in-law, do you know any tailors? I want to have some clothes made, but the department stores don't have any suitable ones."

As soon as Sister-in-law Gu heard this, she knew that Sanqi hadn't taken a liking to the girl; that little guy had a lot of requirements.

"You should buy the fabric, but oh dear, you'd better not. I'll take you to the tailor tonight. He can calculate how many yards of fabric are needed to make clothes for the two children."

Sister-in-law Gu knew that Bao Ni wasn't good at this, and if she bought the wrong thing, she would easily waste the fabric.

"Okay, sister-in-law, I'll come to see you tonight."

Bonnie hung up the phone and took her two children to a state-run restaurant for dinner.

After dinner, I went to buy some stationery and some books, which I didn't have at home.

That evening, Sister-in-law Gu took the mother and her three children to the tailor and bought clothes made from the fabric there.

The 69-inch set is more casual; I made two sets. The 37-inch set is more elaborate, consisting of a white shirt and black pants, and a more fitted outfit. Bonnie also made one set, and another set for Gu Ye.

I also ordered three more thick quilts from the craftsman, because the ones at her place are all quite thin, and I'm worried about the cold in winter.

The cotton-padded clothes have been ordered, but they need to be made in a while. The two children are still growing and will grow a bit more in a month or two.

After they came out, the two children ran away first.

"Sister-in-law, do you have connections with this family?"

"Yeah, there are always capable people out there. Her family has never stopped trading. They also have channels; otherwise, how could they have so much cotton and cloth?"

However, her family only caters to acquaintances.

Aunt Gu is a regular customer; otherwise, if Bao Ni came by herself, she would have had to provide the fabric herself.

Bonnie believes that once the policy is implemented at the end of the year, her family will definitely be among the first to get rich.

"Sister-in-law, I'm so grateful to have you. Otherwise, I wouldn't know what to do. I've been in the south for years and I don't have any winter clothes. How am I supposed to get through the winter?"

"Don't be so polite with me."

The two chatted and laughed as they walked back, eventually going their separate ways.
