A series of footsteps led in children of all ages, who were curious about the library.
"This is the primary school section; we need to go further in."
This is a high school student, and he's very tall.
"The junior high school students are over here."
Bonnie watched as the students poured in, their faces beaming with smiles and their eyes filled with curiosity.
"Students, please keep quiet in the library, do not gather in groups, and read by yourselves. There are labels on the bookshelves; please put the books back where you are after reading them. Handle them gently and do not damage them; learn to take care of them."
Bonnie's voice rang out in the classroom, and the students were quite self-aware, ceasing their chatter and stopping in front of the bookshelves to look for their favorite books.
Liu Jiu had already found the book she wanted to read and sat at the table quietly flipping through it.
Bonnie glanced at her daughter, who was sitting ramrod straight, like a little poplar tree.
"Auntie, can I take the books back to the classroom to read?"
A little girl with a ponytail walked up to Bonnie and asked a question in a soft voice.
"Yes, you need to register."
Once the book is borrowed, it must not be damaged or lost, and it must be returned within two weeks.
If the books are damaged, I will communicate with your homeroom teacher, and you will need to take responsibility accordingly.
Bonnie has already copied down the library's rules and posted them on the wall.
"Okay, Auntie, I will take good care of the books. Now, may I register?"
The girl had big, bright eyes, which were quite endearing.
Bonnie took out the registration book, took her student ID, and wrote down her name, class, the name of the book she borrowed, and the time she borrowed it.
"Okay, sign your name at the end, return the book, and then I'll hang up."
Bonnie handed the register over to her for her signature.
The girl was very well-behaved and had nice handwriting. Following Bonnie's instructions, she completed the borrowing procedures, took the book, and left.
Bonnie looked at her daughter's ponytail swinging back and forth, then looked at her own daughter's hair, which was barely longer than a buzz cut, and sighed...
One student took the lead, and the others followed suit, bringing their chosen books to register. Bonnie efficiently registered them, checked the books to make sure they weren't damaged, and then they could leave.
Bonnie's group and the other groups were all doing well, but for some reason, Lan's elementary school group started having children crying.
Bonnie couldn't leave her post, and Liu Jiu understood perfectly. She put the book back where it was and went out to watch the excitement.
My main concern is Sanqi; that kid's mouth is bound to get him beaten up outside.
When Liu Jiu arrived at the primary school group, there were many people there, and it was hard to tell if they were all primary school students or just others who had come to join in the fun.
Liu Jiu glanced over and saw that her Sanqi was on the outer perimeter, while the person in the middle was crying uncontrollably and she didn't recognize her.
Judging by her height, she should be a third or fourth grade student, about the same height as a third or seventh grader, a girl with a small braid.
"Okay, wipe your tears and tell the teacher what happened?"
The speaker was Mr. Zhang, the curator, who tried to be as gentle as possible.
"Hiccup...hiccup..." The girl hiccuped as she cried, wiping away her tears.
“I didn’t damage the book, but this auntie didn’t believe me. She said I damaged the book and wouldn’t let me leave. She said she would call my parents.”
The girl clearly explained the cause and course of events, looking at Teacher Zhang with a face full of trust.
"Comrade Lan, did you see that this student damaged the book?"
"I didn't see it, but the book was in her hands, so who else could it be but her?"
Sister Lan said matter-of-factly, her head was about to explode from all the noise all afternoon.
"Since you didn't see it, how can you be so sure she broke it? And you should contact her parents. Have you even read our library's rules? Have you checked all these books? Are there any damaged or missing pages?"
Sister Lan was speechless when Teacher Zhang asked her a question; she couldn't answer a single word.
"I, I..."
"Alright, go to work, we'll talk about it this afternoon."
Teacher Zhang dismissed Aunt Lan and then said to the girl, "Little student, this aunt was wrong. I apologize on her behalf. Put the book back and wait until we fix it before you look at it again."
"Thank you, teacher!"
The little girl laughed, her eyes narrowing into slits!
"Students, lunch break is coming to an end. Please put your books away and get ready to go back to class."
Teacher Ma's voice rang out in the corridor. This was also part of the duty, reminding students when it was time for class.
The students were quite good; they put the books back where they belonged, and more than half of the children put their chairs back in their places and took their own things.
After a flurry of footsteps, the library fell silent again.
Bonnie checked the books and put back the ones that were misplaced.
There were some scraps of paper on the ground, which Bonnie swept up with a broom and arranged the tables and chairs neatly.
"Come on, everyone, let's have a meeting."
Teacher Zhang called out from the office, and Bonnie put down the registration book in her hand and went out.
Teacher Zhang's office is quite large, but it's sparsely furnished and spacious.
"Let's talk about the daily work content. We've mentioned some of it before, but it may not be in detail."
Teacher Zhang glanced at the people present. Teacher Liang and Teacher Ma were veteran teachers who had been transferred here for some reason, but they had no problem with their jobs.
Comrade Lin is conscientious and meticulous in his work, and he does his job very well. He is also a qualified employee.
This Comrade Lan, I don't know where she came from, she's not serious about her work and just does things half-heartedly. She has no patience for children and can't even do her job properly.
