Bonnie wasn't interested in Gu Mei's gossip, but she was quite amused that Lan Hua had shot herself in the foot.
Lately, we've been having plenty of oil and food. Bonnie steamed a big pot of mixed rice, along with tomatoes and cucumbers from the small market. They even had crucian carp for sale, not very big, about a hand's length long, which the fishmonger caught himself.
Bonnie bought six or seven fish, and also a tofu. She asked Sanqi to make crucian carp and tofu soup for dinner, all-natural and delicious.
Just as Bonnie finished cleaning the crucian carp, her children Liu Jiu and San Qi came into the house.
"Sanqi, you're back just in time. I just finished cleaning the crucian carp and bought the tofu. It's time for you to show off your skills."
Bonnie spoke with complete confidence, not seeing anything wrong with having a child under ten years old cook.
"Mom, let me go change my clothes."
Sanqi was used to it. Unlike his mother and sister, he couldn't eat any kind of food.
His mother's cooking skills were what they were, so there was no other way but to rely on himself.
"Liu Jiu, are your classmates easy to get along with?"

Liu Jiu ran into Sanqi's room and, following Sanqi's finger, saw an aloe vera plant on the windowsill that was over a foot tall, with thick leaves three fingers wide, and it was very thriving.
Most importantly, there was a bunch of smaller ones under the big one, which were also very fresh and much bigger than the Panax notoginseng plant.

Liu Jiu recalled that a few days ago her mother made fried dough sticks and stewed pork ribs. The smell wafted far and wide, and the neighbors all said that her mother didn't know how to manage a household.
"Let them talk. I'll make them envious. I love their jealous and resentful faces."
Bonnie laughed, remembering a quote she had once read: "I love seeing you hate me but can't do anything about it!"
When Gu Ye returned, Sanqi's crucian carp and tofu soup was just ready.
"Dad, you timed it perfectly, just in time, let's eat." Liu Jiu brought out her smashed cucumber and her mother's tomato salad with sugar to the table.
"Really? Then I'm really lucky." Gu Ye put down his briefcase and went to wash his hands; he could already smell the fragrance.
Where did the crucian carp come from?
Gu Ye looked at the crucian carp and tofu soup in the bowl, quite puzzled.
"I bought it at a small market. It was caught by local farmers; it's completely wild."
Bonnie recalled the large crucian carp weighing over a pound in her later life, but it didn't taste good.
A big pot of fish soup, two cold dishes, and a big bowl of rice were all eaten up by the four of us. What a waste of food!
Gu Ye recalled the phone call he received that afternoon. "Baoni, we have to go to Grandpa's for the Mid-Autumn Festival. He called and said that while your older brother is still here, the whole family should get together and catch up."
Although Gu Ye was unwilling, he had no choice but to go. His grandfather had nominally raised him and his brother.

She couldn't bear to take those seafood items with her; who knows who would benefit from them in the end.

It was Monday again, and Bonnie went to work at the usual time.
It wasn't even noon yet when a primary school student came to the library.
"Teacher, I'm looking for Gu Xuanming's mother."
Teacher Zhang didn't know who Gu Xuanming's mother was, so she called out in the corridor.
"Someone is looking for Gu Xuanming's mother."
Upon hearing this, Bonnie realized who was looking for her and quickly came out.
"Teacher Zhang, Gu Xuanming is my son. Who's looking for me? What does it want?"
Bonnie quickly identified herself, and the others came out when they heard the noise, especially Sister Lan, who pointed her head and rushed forward.
"Auntie, our teacher wants to see you. Gu Xuanming and I are in the same class."
Bonnie glanced at Teacher Zhang; something must have happened to Sanqi.
"Go quickly, the teacher is looking for you, something must have happened."
