Chapter 329 Gu Dasao's Family

Gu Ze didn't have time to care what others thought or how they agonized over it; the couple were too busy.

Brother Gu needs to hand over his work, maintain social relationships, and introduce Gu Ye to certain connections—all left behind by their mother, which need to be preserved.

Sister-in-law Gu was going to pack up her belongings and send anything she didn't need for the time being to the courtyard house.

Fortunately, Bonnie helped her a lot, carrying and lifting things around.

"Baoni, we really need to trouble you this time. We're counting on you for Xuanyu and Xuanyi."

Xuan Yi is a rather lazy kid. Your older brother said he'd have Liu Jiu look after him to toughen him up. In a family like ours, it's not fatal if our child isn't successful; what we fear most is a spendthrift.

From a young age, we cultivate their willpower so that they will not give up easily, nor be easily swayed by sweet words or do anything that would harm their families.

Neither Liu Jiu nor San Qi have any such concerns. My Xuan Yu, as the eldest, is also quite good. As for the two younger ones, Xuan Hao is still too young to tell.

"Xuanyi needs some work out. This time he volunteered to work with Liujiusanqi, which we're actually quite happy about, but it'll be tough on you."

Sister-in-law Gu is sincere. She and Bao Ni have had a very good relationship for so many years, even better than she has with her sisters-in-law and sisters-in-law from her own family.

"It's not a problem. Gu Ye and his older brother grew up relying on each other. Many times, his older brother's worries about Gu Ye are no less than those of a father."

Besides, Xuanyi is already thirteen or fourteen; he doesn't require much of my effort. If he were a three or four-year-old, I wouldn't have the confidence. My two children are both cared for by my mother and grandmother.

Bonnie knew that they and Brother Gu complemented each other; the children had grown up together and developed a bond, and they would support each other in the future.

"Okay, these two big ones are yours. Here are the keys to the courtyard house, also for you. Keep an eye on it for us and make sure there are no leaks."

Sister-in-law Gu entrusted the child and the house to Bao Ni, and she felt at ease.

“Okay, I still have to plant vegetables and raise fish in the spring. When we have a holiday, we’ll go live in a courtyard house.”

Bonnie feels she can't live without growing vegetables for the rest of her life, not to save money, but just out of habit.

It's not that land doesn't lie; it doesn't say that it will give you back exactly what you put in.

Everything was put away. Some of the valuables were put into the secret room by Brother Gu, while the rest were left in the main room.

The two left the courtyard house. Bonnie glanced at her autumn vegetables one last time; it was time to harvest them this weekend.

Sister-in-law Gu and Bao Ni took a car back to the compound. Bao Ni went straight home, while Sister-in-law Gu went back to her parents' home.

"Jiaqi's back. I heard my brother-in-law is being transferred. Is that true?"

Sister-in-law Gu glanced at the people in the room. Her parents, sister-in-law, and sister-in-law were all there, but she didn't see the children. She didn't know if they had gone out or were in the room.

"Mom and Dad, I came here to talk about this. Gu Ze's business is settled, and he'll be leaving in about ten days. I've been busy packing these past few days and haven't had a chance to tell you yet."

Sister-in-law Gu emphasized the key points, believing that the relationship changed after marriage, or more precisely, after her brothers got wives.

"Why so suddenly? Wasn't it supposed to be at the end of the year?"

Before retiring, Sister-in-law Gu's father was a division commander, and he had some connections.

“We just received the notice a few days ago. Gu Ze is busy handing over his work, and I'm busy with family matters. Time is of the essence.”

Sister-in-law Shen and her brother's wife exchanged glances, each harboring their own secret thoughts.

Sister-in-law Shen has four children: two sons and two daughters. The eldest son and daughter are married, while the two younger ones are either working but not married or still in school.

My sister-in-law's family has three children, all of whom are in school, with the oldest only in the first year of high school.

“Jiaqi, Xuanyu is in college and can’t come with you. Tell him to come home when he’s on vacation or if he needs anything. We’ll take good care of him. His parents are worried about him too.”

Sister-in-law Shen was very enthusiastic, which was a bit unlike her usual self. She wasn't this enthusiastic when Xuan Yu and the others came before.

"Mom and Dad, we're only taking Xuanhao with us. We're not taking Xuanyi because we're worried it will affect his studies."

"Can we stay here? Where will we stay?"

Shen's mother knew that her daughter wouldn't leave the child with her, for fear of causing her worry.

“Xuanyi is going to stay at his second uncle’s house, with Gu Ye’s children, so he’ll have company.”

Sister-in-law Gu answered her mother's question, saying that she did not intend to leave the child with her parents' home, as she was worried about it.

Her parents dote on their grandson, but they also have several other grandchildren. Even if they treat them all equally, some people will still think they are biased.

"Staying at his second uncle's house? Is there enough room? Don't you have a courtyard house? Why didn't you think of moving there?"

Sister-in-law Gu took over the conversation; she had her own purpose.

"The courtyard house is not close to Xuanyi School, which is inconvenient. Besides, we are not at ease with him living there alone."

Sister-in-law Gu didn't think of anything else and told the truth.

"Sister-in-law, how about this? Your nephew and his wife work quite close to your courtyard house. Let them take Xuanyi and move there. It's big enough, and Xuanyu will have somewhere to go during his holidays."

It's my own home after all, so it's convenient to live there. I can also keep an eye on the house, preventing it from becoming deserted and decaying quickly.

Sister-in-law Gu hadn't expected her sister-in-law to have this idea. She glanced at her parents and then at her sister-in-law.

Her parents probably didn't know, and they looked surprised, but her sister-in-law knew.

"No need. Gu Ze wants Xuan Yi to do morning exercises with his cousin to strengthen his willpower."

How could Sister-in-law Gu possibly agree? Her nephew and his wife couldn't even take care of their own child properly, let alone Xuanyi.
