Chapter 334 Gossip about the Yang Family

Uncle Gu was extremely frustrated. His nephew wouldn't help him, and neither would his son. Was he just going to drift along until retirement like this? He was not willing to accept it!

Gu Ye had no idea what his third uncle was thinking, nor did he care; he was on the phone with his brother.

"Gu Ye, we've arrived safely. Everything went smoothly, so don't worry."

After Gu Ze reported for duty, he got his own office and called Gu Ye to let him know he was safe.

"Brother, I have something to tell you. Our grandfather passed away on the very day you left."

After I dropped you off and came back, I received a call from my third uncle. Grandpa was very worried and emphasized that his funeral should be simple. He passed away not long after.

Gu Ye told his brother about the situation at the time, the arrangements for what followed, and Gu Wei's situation, exchanging information about the events of the past few days.

Gu Ze discussed some arrangements with Gu Ye and then hung up the phone.

He hadn't expected his grandfather to leave so suddenly, and he felt terrible.

He was the eldest grandson of the Gu family, and his grandfather had high expectations for him. However, they had too many disagreements.

Regarding his mother, Gu Xiangdong, Grandma Gu, Gu Feng... Grandpa hoped the Gu family would be well, but he couldn't achieve that.

He couldn't forgive Gu Xiangdong, even though he was his father, because Gu had betrayed his family.

Forget it, there's no point in thinking about it so much. Everything is preordained.

When Sister-in-law Gu learned of Grandpa Gu's passing that evening, she quietly put away some brightly colored items from the house, thinking it best to be mindful of what she had.

The Gu family started a new life in the south, while Bao Ni and the others' lives remained largely unchanged, proceeding as usual.

Bonnie's job hasn't changed much; the only minor villain, Orchid, occasionally makes an appearance to make her presence known.

Last time, she took the vegetables she grew to school and shared some with Teacher Ma and the others, but she didn't give any to Lan Hua. She made a lot of sarcastic remarks about it.

Bonnie feels that orchids have become her stress-relieving magic weapon.

I would tease Sister Lan occasionally, and seeing her so angry and helpless made me feel happy.

But even more fun was yet to come, and this story begins in the residential compound next door.

Because the autumn vegetables were growing well, Bao Ni couldn't forget Sister-in-law Wei Hong.

Gu Ye had previously asked Han Ye to help him keep an eye out for house listings, and Han Ye really took it seriously.

Bonnie looked at several houses, and although she didn't buy one, she was still very grateful.

Nowadays, there are too many houses, especially courtyard houses or large tenement houses, with unclear property rights.

During those ten years, some people were sent to the countryside, and their houses were seized by others. They moved in with their families, treating other people's houses as their own, and lived very comfortably.

Later, those who were exonerated and returned to the city had their houses returned, but a group of ancestors were still living in them and refused to move out no matter what they were told.

They have nowhere to live. They've lived here for many years. They...

These people have become scoundrels. The neighborhood committee's words have no effect, and the police's arrival is also useless. They lie on the ground and act like scoundrels at the drop of a hat.

Those elderly men and women lie on the ground and try to extort money from anyone who touches them. Nobody needs a father; would you really bring such a scoundrel home?

Bonnie looked at several properties, the prices weren't high, but Luo had a lot of trouble.

She has a fiery temper and is prone to violence; if she gets extorted, she'll feel resentful.

Bonnie told Han Ye that she wasn't in a hurry, and would let her know if she found a suitable house. She wanted a house with clear title and no one living there.

Bonnie carried a basket of vegetables into the Han family home, where Wei Hong's mother-in-law was also present.

"Auntie, Sister-in-law Wei Hong, I brought some autumn vegetables that I grew myself for you to try."

Bonnie was carrying a large basket filled with cabbage, radish, cilantro, spinach, carrots... common vegetables in northern China.

"Look at you, child, you come all this way and bring so much stuff."

My husband, Uncle Han, loves radishes and bok choy; he's in for a treat tonight.

Wei Hong's mother-in-law is very tactful in her speech and actions, leaving no room for criticism. This is what makes her so remarkable.

Bonnie and Sister-in-law Wei Hong exchanged a glance, both understanding each other's meaning.

"Mom, the things are in the kitchen. You can decide what to do with them. I'm going to chat with Bonnie for a bit."

Sister-in-law Wei Hong pulled Bao Ni into their room, acting mysteriously. I wonder what they were up to?

"Sister-in-law, what's wrong? You seem all mysterious."

Bonnie was completely bewildered as she was dragged into the room.

“Bonnie, let me tell you, the Yang family next door, the family of Cao Wenze’s biological father, got their comeuppance.”

This explosive news almost made Bonnie choke on her own saliva.

"Sister-in-law, what kind of retribution did they suffer? Is their house haunted?"

Bonnie's mind suddenly went blank; these were the words that immediately popped into her head.

"What the hell? You're hilarious."

Zhou Weihong patted Bao Ni on the shoulder; it was hilarious.

"No, it seems like someone in her family has a terminal illness, the kind that can't be cured."

Yesterday, I heard loud crying coming from his house.

Zhou Weihong has only this one little hobby: she likes to listen to gossip.

"Really? Do you know who it is?"

Bonnie also got interested; the onlookers were all like-minded.

"It's not confirmed yet, but it should be one of the two sons of the Yang family."

The loudest crying I heard came from Aunt Yang; I couldn't hear the others clearly.

Moreover, all her grandchildren go to school every day; she hasn't seen any of them ask for leave.

Zhou Weihong was quite observant; she had been paying attention ever since she overheard a few snippets of conversation.

She couldn't hold it in any longer today, and luckily Bonnie came over, so she had someone to talk to.
