Chapter 36 Friends Gathering

"Han Ye, why don't you introduce me?" A dissatisfied voice rang out from beside Deng Bing.

"You're not one of us, so it doesn't matter."

Han Ye knew about Deng Bing's sister's feelings for Gu Ye, but he didn't expect her to come along.

"I've always followed my brother around since I was little, how can we not be on the same side? Hello, I'm Deng Meili." The little girl was quite sharp-tongued.

"Hello, Lin Baoni, Gu Ye's wife." A woman's intuition is often accurate; she should state her identity first. If there's any impoliteness, she won't blame herself.

"I know!" That wasn't a very pleasant tone!

Bonnie looked away, greeted the women, and handed out her gifts.

Deng Bing glanced at his sister, telling her to calm down.

"You guys should try the dried squid, it's amazing! My dad tried a little and took all my stuff away." Han Ye was particularly fond of dried squid and kept recommending it.

His words piqued everyone's curiosity. This guy had a discerning palate and was a real connoisseur of food.

"Mmm, delicious." This was Li Hongjun, chewing with great relish.

"It has resilience."

"It doesn't smell fishy."

"It's also sweet."

If you didn't know better, you'd think this was a food show, with constant commentary.

There was only one person, with a displeased expression and a pout, neither eating nor speaking; that was Comrade Deng Meili!

When others say it's delicious, it's not just flattery; it really is delicious. These people live in the military compound in Beijing, and they're not ignorant.

Gu Ye then boasted that this was his mother-in-law's cooking, a family heirloom!

Aside from Han Ye, everyone was a little incredulous that this was Gu Ye, the Gu Ye who always had a cold face and seemed indifferent to everything. They never expected to see such an adorable side of Gu Ye; it was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience!

As they were talking, the dishes were ready and brought out one after another.

"Sister-in-law Gu, you must try this. It's a very famous cuisine in Beijing; you've probably never seen it on the islands. This is the skill of an imperial chef, far superior to the culinary skills of those amateurs." Who is this veiled reference to?

Bonnie held Gu Ye's hand to calm him down. She picked up a piece of food with her chopsticks, chewed it slowly, and tasted it. It was quite delicious.

"It's quite delicious, no wonder it's the Imperial Chef's cooking. What a pity..." Bonnie drawled, stopping halfway through her sentence.

"What's a pity?" Deng Meili pressed on relentlessly.

"It's a pity that our leaders advocate hard work and frugality, so these so-called imperial chef skills have no use. Don't you think so, Sister Deng?" Bonnie's smiling face provoked Deng Meili to stand up abruptly, about to explode.

"If you're not going to eat, then get out. Stop talking so much nonsense. This is a get-together, it has nothing to do with you, so why are you being so sarcastic?" Gu Ye's tone was not good. He didn't look at Deng Meili, but glanced at Deng Bing instead.

"Gu Ye, I'm sorry, but this won't happen again." Deng Bing knew that Gu Ye valued his wife, and that his sister had no hope.

Deng Meili sat down unwillingly and sulked to herself. Bao Ni ignored her and ate happily; her cooking skills were indeed quite good.
