Chapter 372 Ms. Zhai

When Liu Jiu and the others returned, Bonnie had already prepared a gift for them.

"Mom, what are you doing?"

Sanqi looked at the net bags on the ground, one after another, but didn't know what they were.

"I've found you a foreign language teacher. Let's go meet him this afternoon. He's a former diplomat."

Bonnie thought it sounded incredibly impressive; someone who retired from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs must be exceptional!

"Wow, that's amazing, Mom! How did you know her?"

Sanqi never expected that her mother knew such an amazing person who could debate with foreigners. That must be incredible!

"Grandpa Gao, do you still remember him?"

I have no memory of Sanqi, but I vaguely remember Liujiu having a grandfather with many bottles in the house.

"I vaguely remember the grandfather who had many bottles in the house."

Back then, Liu Jiu liked to wander around the island and even visited the so-called cowshed.

"Yes, it was my grandfather who liked to do experiments. He introduced me to him; he was a friend of his."

Gu Xuanyi didn't recognize any of them. He just listened to his aunts chatting and learned that someone would be teaching them foreign languages from now on, and they wouldn't be able to play anymore.

Because I had something to do in the afternoon, I ate a simple lunch. Liu Jiu made hot noodle soup. San Qi was too lazy to cook such a simple dish and couldn't show off her skills.

After lunch, Bonnie packed her things and set off with her three children.

Professor Gao is a university teacher who lives in the university's staff housing. His children are not around; it's just him and his wife.

Bonnie initially thought he didn't have a wife, because during the years he was sent to the countryside, no one contacted him.

It was only later that I found out they divorced for the sake of their child. Outsiders didn't know it was a fake divorce; someone was covering for them.

Later, they were exonerated and returned to normal life.

"Bonnie, come in quickly."

Professor Gao's wife is also a university teacher, teaching chemistry.

"Hello, Professor Fang!"

"Hello, Grandma Fang!" Bonnie and the other children quickly greeted her.

"These kids are so energetic! Bonnie, you're going to have a great life!"

Professor Gao also came out, looking at the three children, and missed his own grandchildren.

"Hello, Grandpa Gao!"

Liu Jiu met Grandpa Gao, but she was still young then, and many years have passed, so she doesn't really remember it.

"Alright, come and sit down. Old Zhai will be here soon."

Professor Gao's friend, Ms. Zhai Qiu, studied abroad and is fluent in English, French, and Japanese. She retired due to health reasons and has no other relatives living with her.

When Bonnie asked him to help introduce a foreign language teacher, he thought of Lao Zhai.

Bonnie and the others didn't have to wait long before Ms. Zhai arrived.

"Old Zhai, come in quickly, your student has arrived."

Professor Gao was confident that Lao Zhai would be able to select a few children and thus established a teacher-student relationship in advance.

"Why are you in such a hurry? This is not like you at all."

Ms. Zhai looked to be in her fifties, with jet-black hair, an upright posture, and a kind and approachable demeanor, but her gaze was quite intimidating.

"Hello, Teacher Zhai!"

Bonnie was surprised that Ms. Zhai was so young. She had imagined that a retired Ministry of Foreign Affairs worker would have gray hair, a serious face, and a simple, old-fashioned image!

"Hello! Are these the children who are going to learn English?"

Ms. Zhai looked at the three children in front of her. They were teenagers, standing straight with clear eyes, and quite pleasing to the eye.

"Hello, Teacher Fang. My name is Gu Xuanming, and my nickname is Sanqi. That is my cousin Gu Xuanyi, and my sister Gu Yunchu, whose nickname is Liujiu."

Sanqi was not at all stage-frightened, and her introduction was clear and articulate, neither hurried nor slow.

Ms. Zhai immediately took a liking to the little boy; she didn't know why, she just liked him.

She asked a question in English, and Sanqi understood and answered, though not very fluently, but she dared to speak.

In this respect, Liu Jiu and Gu Xuanyi cannot compare. They dare not speak out, they are too reserved, and they are afraid of saying the wrong thing.

Ms. Zhai asked Liu Jiu and Gu Xuanyi a question each. They answered nervously, but not badly, better than most of their peers.

The three passed Ms. Zhai's test and were able to learn foreign languages from her.

At that time, there was no two-day weekend; there was only one day off per week. Ms. Zhai scheduled to study for one hour on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday evenings, and for one morning on Sunday.

Fortunately, school ends earlier now, and there are no extended classes. After dinner, I can have an hour-long foreign language class, so I have plenty of time.

Ms. Zhai lives not far from Bao Ni's courtyard house, in that area. It is her private property, not a house allocated by her work unit.

After agreeing on a time for class, Bonnie gave out the gift she had brought and went home with the child.

It's rare for Professor Gao and his two friends to get together, so they've decided to chat about Bonnie and the others.

"This is the person you mentioned who took care of you on the island. They seem quite nice."

Ms. Zhai has met and interacted with many people both domestically and internationally, so she is quite confident in her ability to judge character.

"Yes, she is the daughter of the captain of that island's battalion commander. She married an officer on the island and led the island's military wives and fishermen to grow seaweed. She asked me some questions."

Later, when the environment deteriorated, I was assigned to an island to help her research spore cultivation. I wasn't put through any hardship or exerted any significant effort.

Many of the people we know were sent to the countryside, and a few of them came back unharmed.

Teacher Fang is very grateful to Bonnie for this. Living and living with quality and dignity are two different concepts.

"That's not bad. Back then, most people wouldn't dare to do that, for fear of getting into trouble."

Ms. Zhai was not implicated; she had a very important mission, and the leaders were protecting her.
