Chapter 378 Someone Has Arrived

Time heals all wounds, and the Yang family's funeral was no longer a topic of discussion, replaced by other things. What the world has in abundance is gossip.

Sister-in-law Wei Hong came over once and said, "Old Yang has passed the 31st day after his death. Aunt Yang's spirits have improved a bit. She is no longer depressed and lifeless."

The main reason is that her youngest daughter is about to take the college entrance examination, so she needs to be on high alert and make arrangements.

Yang's wife has not given any indication that she wants to remarry, perhaps because there is no suitable match yet, or perhaps because she has not yet moved on.

She's not even thirty yet; she can't possibly stay with the child forever. Aunt Yang made it clear that she wouldn't stop her from remarrying into the Yang family, but she wouldn't be allowed to take the child with her.

Two children, one seven or eight years old and the other four or five years old. Most mothers can't bear to part with their children.

Even though they are the grandparents, there are other grandchildren in the family, so choosing is difficult.

Sister-in-law Wei Hong and the Yang family have been neighbors for many years. They see each other every day and have watched the two children being born and growing up.

Although I feel sorry for Cao Wenze's sister, I can't bring myself to hate the Yang family. They've been neighbors for so many years and there haven't been any conflicts.

Because of her long-term relationship with Cao Wenze and his wife, and her connection with Gu Ye, Bao Ni didn't know anyone from the Yang family. Furthermore, because of Gu Xiangdong and Xu Fang, she didn't have a good impression of the Yang family and felt that the death of Yang Laoda was retribution.

Everyone has their own perspective, and Bonnie doesn't think Sister-in-law Wei Hong did anything wrong.

"That's up to her to choose; no one has the right to interfere too much."

If it's for the child's sake, it's best not to get married. After all, the child is still young, has lost their father, and would be pitiful enough to lose their mother as well.

There are few divorces now, but decades later, the divorce rate will be much higher than the marriage rate.

When a couple divorces, the children suffer the most. Some are lucky enough to be taken away by their mothers, and at least their lives will be a little better.

Some women who lived with their fathers and then had stepmothers found life much harder.

Even worse are those whose parents don't want their children, leaving them with their grandparents and raising them like orphans.

"Bonnie, if it were you, what would you choose?"

Wei Hong sometimes felt that Bonnie's ideas were different from most of theirs, and that she was more open-minded.

"If it were me, I probably wouldn't remarry and would raise the child on my own."

Bonnie is telling the truth; that's what she really thinks.

"It must be tough raising two kids on your own, right?"

Wei Hong didn't expect Bao Ni to say that; she thought Bao Ni would try to take the child away.

“It’s not difficult at all. I have a job, and my grandparents also help me out.”

At her age, if she finds another partner, he'll likely be a divorced woman with children. Instead of raising someone else's child, why not raise her own?

It's not like you can't live without a man. You've worked hard to raise someone else's child, and they might even have their own. It'll be even more complicated then. No matter how much you give, your stepchildren will feel like you're favoring your own child.

Rather than ending up being treated badly by both sides and wasting your energy and emotions, it's better to raise your child properly.

After all, it's adults who bring children into this world, and they have a responsibility to raise them well.

Bonnie's comments were heartfelt; she had seen too many cases where children of divorced parents rarely had good outcomes. Some turned to crime, some developed a fear of marriage, and some suffered from mental health issues...

Having lived here for over ten years and having her own child, Bonnie has gained a new understanding of life and can also understand Lao Jiang a little better.

It's true that you only realize the love and care your parents have for you when you raise children.

Sister-in-law Wei Hong was a little shocked; she hadn't expected Bao Ni to think that way.

Many people around her would choose to remarry in such circumstances.

Most of them bring their own children and form families with someone who also has children, living together and having new children.

It is normal for a family to have three litters of children.

After talking for so long, Wei Hong had to go back; she still had a lot of things to do at home.

After seeing Sister-in-law Wei Hong off, Bonnie wondered what to have for lunch. The children had gone to English class and would be eating lunch at Teacher Zhai's place, not coming back.

Bonnie even went to Dayang Village to buy grain and delivered it to Teacher Zhai's house, because her child had an unusually large appetite.

Teacher Zhai didn't refuse; she didn't have much food left in her personal ration book.

Since the children came to live with her, she feels that life has become interesting again, that she can contribute her remaining energy, and that the house is no longer lonely.

Bonnie ate a simple meal. She had nothing to do in the afternoon. She had finished the work in the vegetable garden, rented out all the houses, and found suitable managers. Everything was going smoothly.

The main house rents for thirty yuan a month, and the side room rents for twenty-four yuan a month, totaling fifty-four yuan, which is about the same as a worker's salary.

Besides, the rent for that house over there is 24 yuan a month, so that adds up to 78 yuan, which is quite a lot.

Bonnie's happiest moment is when she collects the rent each month; her heart races, and Gu Ye teases her for being a little money-grubber.

"Clang clang..."

Bonnie was lost in her daydreams when a knock on the door interrupted her.

"Sister-in-law Shen, what a rare guest! Please come in."

When Bonnie opened the door, she was surprised to find that it was actually Sister-in-law Gu's sister-in-law from her maternal family.

"Bonnie, I'm sorry for coming over without telling you. I'm so sorry for being so abrupt."

Although Sister-in-law Shen apologized verbally, there was little embarrassment in her eyes.

Bonnie had only met her a few times and didn't really know her well, so she couldn't guess the purpose of her trip.

People don't visit temples unless they need something; they only burn incense when trouble is at hand!
