As soon as school was over at noon, the students rushed to the cafeteria; they were all hungry.
Liu Jiu was also hungry. She grabbed her lunchbox and ran out quickly. Behind her came Gu Xuanyi's shout: "Gu Yun Chu, save us two spots!"
At school, Xuan Yi dared not call himself Liu Jiu, for fear of getting beaten up.
"Okay, hurry up."
Liu Jiu had disappeared without a trace; only her voice remained.
"You two know each other?"
Gu Xuanyi's deskmate, Du Haitao, was surprised; they seemed to know each other well.
"My sister, do you think we're close?"
Xuan Yi grabbed his lunchbox and hurried out. Liu Jiu eats quickly; if he dawdled any longer, she would finish and wouldn't leave any room for him.
Du Haitao quickly followed, lunchbox in hand, as there wouldn't be enough room for everyone.
By the time Gu Xuanyi finished getting the food and found Liu Jiu, she had already eaten more than half of it.
"Luckily I made it in time. I was afraid that after you finished eating and left, I wouldn't have anywhere to sit."
Gu Xuanyi and Du Haitao sat opposite Liu Jiu and started eating. The taste was far inferior to what Sanqi had made.
"When my second uncle comes back to cook dinner tonight, he still makes it with Panax notoginseng. The taste is nowhere near as good."
"Being able to eat at all is good enough. Don't be picky, or you'll be punished."
Liu Jiu also knew that the school food was just average and couldn't compare to what she ate at home.
After Liu Jiu finished eating the last bite of her meal, she took her lunchbox to wash it. She planned to go to the library later to see what new books had arrived. Her mother said there were quite a few books there.
Gu Xuanyi watched Liu Jiu walk away. She was so decisive and efficient, so unlike a girl. Her hair was even shorter than his own.
This was the first time Du Haitao had ever seen a girl like Gu Yun Chu. Even female soldiers didn't seem to have cut their hair so short, and so quickly.
The two teenagers didn't say it aloud, but they were thinking the same thing, only Liu Jiu didn't know it.
