Chapter 417 The Story

The two boys had just finished eating when Gu Ye and Liu Jiu arrived.

"How's the Sylphy?"

Liu Jiu also stared nervously at her mother, afraid of hearing some bad news.

"I have a fractured shinbone. The doctor said I can be discharged after two days of observation. I need to rest."

Bonnie glanced at her daughter; she didn't seem to be injured.

"Take these two children home first, we'll talk later."

Bonnie was worried that the parents would be anxious, so she urged Gu Ye to hurry up.

"Auntie, thank you."

The two boys were a little shy. They thanked Bonnie and didn't dare to look at Liu Jiu much. The image of Liu Jiu hitting people with a shovel was still playing clearly in their minds. It was too shocking.

"You're welcome. Let your uncle take you home quickly; your parents must be worried."

Gu Ye left with the two boys, and Bao Ni still doesn't know if Liu Jiu has eaten.

"Liu Jiu, have you eaten?"

"We haven't eaten yet. Neither Dad nor I have eaten. We're hungry."

Liu Jiu clung to her mother's arm, too hungry to exert any strength; fighting was physically demanding.

"You go inside and rest for a while. Mom will go buy you some food. Let's see if Xuanyi is awake yet."

Bonnie took Liu Jiu's hand and opened the door to enter the ward, just as Xuan Yi woke up.

"Second Aunt, my leg hurts, boohoo..."

Gu Xuanyi not only felt pain in his legs, but he was also a little scared. He was completely stunned and didn't know what was going on when he was knocked down.

Seeing someone with a knife, she was worried about Liu Jiu's safety and felt wronged, so she couldn't help but cry.

"It's okay, just cry it out."

Bonnie gently stroked Xuan Yi's head to comfort him.

"I'm fine, don't worry, those guys didn't hurt me."

Hearing Xuan Yi's sobbing and seeing her mother's clothes soaked with tears, Liu Jiu felt an inexplicable urge to laugh, mainly because Gu Xuan Yi was taller than her mother even while sitting down.

"Really, you're completely alright?"

"Really, just cry a couple of times to make up for it. I'm hungry. Let go of me and let my mom go buy food. If you still want to cry, I'll lend you my arm so you can hug it and cry."

After Liu Jiu said that, Gu Xuanyi could no longer cry.

"I'm hungry too, Auntie. I want to eat meat, braised pork with rice."

Gu Xuanyi was a little embarrassed, so he touched his face and changed the subject.

"Okay, I'll go take a look. Liu Jiu, stay with your brother."

Bonnie noticed that Xuan Yi seemed a little embarrassed, so she got up and left.

"Sixty-nine, have the police finished their interrogation? What exactly happened?"

Gu Xuanyi still doesn't know why he was beaten up.

He and two classmates had just arrived at the garbage dump when four or five boys walked over from the garbage can.

"You're Gu Xuanyi?"

"Who are you? I don't know you."

Xuan Yi also sensed that these people had ill intentions, and thought he should finish taking out the trash quickly so they could leave.

However, those men lacked sportsmanship. Taking advantage of the moment he was taking out the trash, they attacked him from behind, kicking him in the shin and knocking him to the ground. His leg was in great pain.

Two other classmates came over to help him up, but they were also kicked to the ground.

"Tsk tsk... Such a weakling, yet he acts like a proper good student, what a damn bad omen..."

The boy in the lead was cursing and swearing, not saying a single nice word. Gu Xuanyi was both angry and his legs hurt. He wanted to ask them why they hit him, but he didn't get a chance.

The young man approached him step by step, and Xuan Yi felt his heart race. Instinctively, he covered his head with his hands. He saw the man raise his foot to kick him, but he only wanted to protect his head and not be knocked senseless.

The expected pain didn't come. Instead, there was a loud thud, and the boy who was about to kick him flew out. Liu Jiu was standing in front of him, saved.

Next up was Liu Jiu's performance. Gu Xuanyi watched with bated breath. There were four or five young men around seventeen or eighteen years old. Although Liu Jiu was skilled, he was still young and at a disadvantage.

After everything was over, Gu Xuanyi was taken to the ambulance. When he woke up again, his second aunt and Liu Jiu were already there.

“I don’t know. The police officers didn’t tell me. After they finished taking the report, my dad was called away separately. Later, we came to the hospital together.”

To find out what happened, we'll have to wait for my dad to come back and ask him.

Liu Jiu didn't understand how Gu Xuanyi had gotten involved with those idle people. They were always together and he had never been alone.

The two were pondering things in the hospital room when Bonnie returned with food. Just as she set out the food, Gu Ye also came back.

"Both children have been sent back home. Their families must be worried. Have they been told what happened?"

Bonnie handed Gu Ye chopsticks while asking about the situation; she was very anxious.

"I already explained, and both families understood. The child is fine, so I came back without saying much. Let's eat first, and we can talk about the rest after we finish eating."

Gu Ye was hungry. He had been busy all day and hadn't had dinner yet.

Bonnie was also hungry, so she stopped asking questions. The group sat around the small table and finished all the food.

After tidying up his lunchbox, Gu Ye explained what had happened.

"There's a girl in your class named Liang Xiaocao who keeps writing letters to Xuanyi, right?"

After reviewing the statements of several young men at the police station, Gu Ye realized that his own children had acted without thinking.

"Yeah, these people weren't hired by Liang Xiaocao, were they? Isn't she repaying kindness with enmity? We didn't want to tell the teacher for her sake, making it public knowledge, so why does she resent us?"

Gu Xuanyi was furious when he heard that Liang Xiaocao was also involved.
