Chapter 420 Gu Xuanyi's Daily Life While Recuperating

That evening, Gu Xuanyu arrived at the hospital.

Second Aunt, have you eaten?

"Xuanyu, what brings you here?"

Bonnie didn't tell Gu Xuanyu that he was also quite busy with his studies.

“My mom said Xuanyi is in the hospital. I’m not too busy these days, so I came over to switch with you. My second uncle is also busy, and it’s too tiring for you to do it all by yourself.”

Gu Xuanyu felt that his second aunt was like a mother, but not quite, because she was too young; she was more like an older sister.

"It's alright, Xuanyi's leg injury isn't serious, he'll be discharged tomorrow. When he does, have Sanqi make him some more bone broth to help him recover."

Bonnie was quite pleased that Xuanyu and the other boy both had grateful hearts and didn't take their care for granted.

"Second Aunt, you go back and rest tonight. I'll stay here to take care of Xuanyi. I've taken leave; I have class next Monday. Come back tomorrow to process his discharge and take him home."

When Bonnie heard that Xuanyu had already taken leave, she didn't refuse, as she was worried about her two children at home.

"Okay, there's no needle tonight. Buy some food for Xuanyi, and I'll go home and check on Liujiu and the other girl."

Bonnie left some money for Gu Xuanyu, worried that the child might not have enough. Gu's sister-in-law wired him some money. Those boys had all been sentenced to prison, their families had cut ties with them, and no one was paying for their medical expenses.

Bonnie told Xuanyi and then went home.

At home, Sanqi had already prepared the meal. His parents hadn't been home for the past two days, so he was in charge of cooking for himself and Liujiu.

"Mom, you're back. Have you eaten?"

Sanqi was a little excited when she saw her mother come in.

"I haven't eaten yet. I bought a roast duck and will make something else, that will be enough for me."

Bonnie shook the net bag in her hand; inside was a freshly roasted duck, still warm.

"Great, I was just craving roast duck. I steamed some rice to take out for tomorrow morning, that'll be enough for dinner."

Sanqi carried the roast duck into the kitchen. He had been making a big bone and sauerkraut soup for dinner that night, and he even took a class break to make it more tender.

"Sanqi, has your dad come back these past couple of days?"

"No, I left early that morning after returning from the hospital and haven't come back since."

Sanqi has been feeling down these past few days. His parents aren't home, and he's not used to it.

“Your dad will be very busy lately. We need to understand him. There’s still fighting on the border. They are soldiers who are protecting our country. If they care about the greater good, they will neglect their own family.”

Bonnie and her son were talking about Gu Ye's work. Their son, Sanqi, was still a child under ten years old. No matter how sensible he was, he was still a child.

“I know, I’ve been listening to the news.”

I know a little about Panax notoginseng. Living in a military family compound, how could I not hear about this?

When Liu Jiu returned, the food was ready and laid out on the table.

"Mom, you're back. How's Xuanyi? Can he be discharged tomorrow?"

Liu Jiu put down her schoolbag and asked her mother about Xuan Yi.

"You're being discharged tomorrow morning. Your brother Xuanyu is there. I was worried about you two, so I came back to check on you. I'll pick Xuanyi up from the hospital and take him home tomorrow morning."

"Has your school said anything about what to do about the fight? What about that girl?"

Bonnie has been at the hospital for the past two days, and Gu Ye hasn't called, so she really doesn't know how things are going.

"Liang Xiaocao dropped out of school and was taken home by his parents, who won't let him go to school anymore."

Today, the school held a general meeting to report on this incident. We were told to focus on our studies; we're still young, don't think about so much. Each class must prohibit dating; anyone caught doing so will be expelled.

At the school's general assembly for junior and senior high students, the principal spoke seriously, mentioning that those boys had been sentenced and that it would be recorded in their files, affecting not only themselves but also the next generation.

Liu Jiu ate another piece of duck meat and told her mother and younger brother what had happened at school.

"That's good. It serves as a wake-up call for everyone, letting them know what they can and cannot do."

Six-Nine and Three-Seven, from now on, go home after school. The security situation is getting worse and worse; there are too many idle people in society. Especially Six-Nine, although you are quite skilled, there is a lot of malice in this world that you can't even imagine.

Some things cannot be solved by force; many people commit evil deeds in a way that is impossible to guard against.

Bonnie thought about it. It was 1979. A large number of educated youth had returned to the city, and more and more people were unable to find jobs, leading to an increase in crimes.

It seems that around 1984, the country began a crackdown, and public security improved, with highway robberies and thefts gradually subsiding.

"I understand, Mom."

After this incident, Liu Jiu understood many things and learned about many dark aspects that she had never known before.

Sanqi's eyes widened, and he thought to himself that he couldn't be alone anymore. What if someone took a fancy to this handsome young man? He would be in danger.

After the three of them had eaten and drunk their fill, Bonnie didn't clean up the dishes. She wanted to take a shower; she felt like she was covered in disinfectant after being in the hospital for the past two days.

Because their mother was home, Liu Jiu and San Qi felt very safe. After cleaning up the kitchen, they went back to their room to study and slept soundly all night.

In the morning, Bonnie went out to buy breakfast and came back. After Liu Jiu and San Qi finished eating, they went to school.

At the hospital, Xuan Yu had already completed the discharge procedures, while Xuan Yi had a fractured leg and was using crutches, but he could still move around.

"Xuanyu, all the formalities are done. Let's go home. Uncle Han is waiting downstairs."

Unable to contact Gu Ye, Bao Ni asked Han Ye to help pick up Xuan Yi, as his leg condition made it inconvenient for him to take the bus.

Han Ye arrived home without any problems and didn't linger, as he had other things to do.

Bonnie asked Xuanyu to accompany Xuanyi while she went to Dayang Village to buy some meat and chicken.
