Chapter 439 Contradiction

"Sis, what did Ma Zijun say to you just now?"

Sanqi was quite curious, wondering what the guy surnamed Ma had said to his sister. She wondered if he was up to something. His sister looked quite pretty with her hair long.

"He wanted to spar with me, and we arranged to meet at 7 p.m.

Liu Jiu was hungry, and after saying that, he sped up, not noticing San Qi, who was disheveled in the wind.

What the hell? A seemingly decent guy actually picked a fight with a girl. This is the first time I've ever encountered such a thing. There are all sorts of birds in a big forest.

"Sanqi, what are you daydreaming about? Hurry up, or you'll be late for school."

Gu Xuanyi didn't know what was wrong with Sanqi; he was walking slowly and had fallen far behind. Liujiu had already disappeared from sight, and he really didn't want to wait for him anymore.

"Oh? He's here, he's here. My sister just said that Ma Zijun challenged her to a sparring match tonight. Don't you think he's crazy? My sister is a girl, and he just comes up here looking for a fight?"

Sanqi couldn't understand why they liked sparring so much. Didn't they have any shame about getting beaten up by a girl? Especially a girl younger than them? He just couldn't stand it.

"They just like to make friends through martial arts. Why are you making it so complicated? Hurry up and go home, I'm starving."

Gu Xuanyi pulled Sanqi home. Honestly, she's not that old, why does she think so much? Why does she have so many problems?

After dinner, the three of them went to school together as usual, without mentioning their sparring match that evening.

Bonnie had no idea that her daughter had found a rival. She did receive a good phone call, though. Liu Zi said that someone wanted to see a courtyard house and was interested in renting a house.

"Liu Zi, I'm begging you. I have no other requests, just keep the original layout of the house. The layout and the building cannot be changed. It can only be repaired, not demolished."

Bonnie wants to preserve the original architectural layout of the house and not let it be turned into a mess.

"Okay, I understand. I'll let you know when I have any news."

After Liu Zi hung up the phone, Bao Ni was overjoyed. Now that the house was rented out, she could finally breathe a sigh of relief. She had spent a bit too much money recently and was feeling uncertain.

Upon arriving at the library, Bonnie cheerfully organized the books and cleaned the room, humming a song involuntarily.

"What's making you so happy that you're even singing?"

Teacher Ma passed by Bonnie's door and heard her singing. It was a song she had never heard before, and it sounded quite nice.

"Teacher Ma, Bonnie's husband got a promotion, and she's thrilled."

If Lan Hua's tone didn't have that slight hint of sourness, she would be even more endearing.

"Did you eat too much vinegar this morning? It smells so sour!"

Bonnie walked over, glanced at the orchid, and for some reason, looked worried.

"Sigh, my husband is leaving the military, and we may have to leave the military compound. I'm a little panicked."

Lan Hua grew up in a military compound and has gotten used to it over the years. Now that she has to leave, she feels uncertain.

Why switch careers now?

Bonnie hadn't heard of it. Her second brother was demobilized at the end of last year, which is less than half a year ago. Was the large-scale military downsizing happening around this time? Bonnie had no recollection of it.

“My husband isn’t in an important position in the combat unit either. To be honest, if it weren’t for my uncle taking care of him, he would have been discharged long ago. It’s not easy for him to have made it this far.”

Lan Hua was attracted to her husband's good looks and agreed to marry him; she had no room for regret.

"If that's the case, it's good to switch careers early. While you're young, you can still make a career for yourself."

Bonnie felt that her husband, in his thirties, could secure a decent position if he transferred to civilian work now, with her uncle's connections. Otherwise, things might be different during the major downsizing, when there are far more soldiers than available positions.

“I know that more and more people are leaving the military in the past two years. My uncle said that this is a signal that there will be a large-scale reduction in the military at any time.”

Lan Hua is a very guileless person. She also told Bao Ni this. Her uncle must have forgotten to tell her not to say everything.

"Alright, stop saying that. Be careful not to cause trouble for your uncle. Where is your husband going after his military service? What's his hometown?"

Bonnie didn't really know about Lan Hua's family situation. She didn't like to pry into other people's private affairs, but she would quite like to listen if the other person took the initiative to tell her.

Orchid understood Bonnie's good intentions. She knew she had said too much, but luckily it was just her and Bonnie there.

"I forgot, I just blurted it out. My husband's family is from a neighboring province, not far away. He transferred to a bank in this city, he's an accountant, and he's certified. It's just that it's a bit far from here, and I don't know anyone there anymore."

When Bonnie heard this, she realized that her uncle had helped her out; a bank, what a great place!

“You haven’t left Beijing yet, and your family is still here. When you get to a new place, don’t act like a little hen, craning your neck and offending people everywhere.”

Bonnie and Orchid were quite familiar with each other, and Bonnie gave her a sincere piece of advice.

"I understand, I'll be careful."

They didn't talk much because they both had work to do.

That evening, Gu Ye came back and said that he seemed to have found a housekeeper. He would ask about the details the next day, but at his level, he would have to pay the housekeeper's salary himself.

Bonnie felt it was the right thing to do; they could afford it.

Liu Jiu and the other two left after finishing their meal, and Bao Ni didn't pay any attention.

On the training field, Ma Zijun and his group were already there, along with several others of varying ages.

"Gu Yun Chu, you've arrived."

"Yes, we just finished eating. We're just taking a walk to digest."

After saying that, Liu Jiu went to the track to walk slowly and warm up.

"Brother Zijun, who is this?"

The girl who spoke was named Liang Yuan. She was the chief of staff's youngest daughter, a first-year junior high student, but the same age as Liu Jiu.
