Bonnie's uncle took three days off to come back and see Bonnie, and to think about what to do next.
"Bonnie, your uncle will show you his skills tomorrow night. What do you think of his cooking?"
"Okay, but you've come to the wrong person for the food tasting. My Sanqi has a very good tongue and is extremely sensitive. You should bribe him properly."
Bonnie isn't picky about food; she can eat anything as long as the taste isn't particularly strange. She can only categorize a dish as either delicious or bad. As for what makes it delicious or bad, she can't explain.
"Really? Our Sanqi is so amazing, then I have to flatter her properly."
Bonnie's uncle was quite outgoing when he was young, and he hasn't changed much. He gets along well with the younger generation's children.
After finishing their meal, everyone cleaned up and went home.
Bonnie has finished packing her seafood; now it's just a matter of time.
The next day, Liu Jiu and the others finished their English class in the morning and went to the beach in the afternoon. Bonnie had nothing to do, so she stayed with her grandmother to sunbathe.
“Nizi, your mother said she’ll make you mackerel dumplings tonight. The fishing boat that went out to sea yesterday came back.”
Grandma patted Bonnie's hand, and the two lay side by side on the rocking chair with a small stool between them, on which were some food and drinks. This was a life that even the gods wouldn't trade.
The warm breeze made her drowsy, and before she knew it, Bonnie had fallen asleep.
"Nizi, wake up, someone is looking for you."
Bao Ni's mother was a little at a loss, so she quickly woke Bao Ni up.
"What? Mother, what's wrong?"
Bonnie was still half asleep and didn't realize what was happening when she was woken up. She wondered what had happened.
"A few guests have come to the house. They say they are looking for you. Get up and see if you recognize them."
Bonnie stood up, rubbed her face to refresh herself, and then looked at the so-called guest.
Goodness, how did these kids get here?
"Xu Yi, Xu Yang, Mu Nanfang, Zheng Jun, what brings you here?"
“Auntie, we’ve never seen the sea before. We thought we finally had the chance to come and stay with you, so we asked our families to let us come and see the sea.”
Although Xu Yi was thick-skinned, he was a little embarrassed this time, after all, Aunt Gu was going back to her parents' home.
"Aunt Gu, I'm sorry, we were a bit abrupt."
Mu Nanfang's results came out, and through connections, it was confirmed that he had been accepted. His father was a bit upset, so he wanted to find a place to hide away. Zheng Jun said he had been to an island and it was a lot of fun. Coincidentally, Liu Jiu and the others were there too.
“Aunt Gu, we didn’t run away secretly; our family gave us permission.”
Zheng Jun chuckled foolishly; he hadn't had enough fun last time.
Did you call home to let them know you're safe?
"I made the call. I made the call after I got off the bus."
Xu Yi quickly replied that his grandfather believed that reading ten thousand books was not enough; one should also travel ten thousand miles and see more of the world.
"That's good. You can play here, but you must promise not to act alone, not to be reckless, and to prioritize safety above all else."
Since the child has come, Bonnie has no choice but to entertain him, but she must make it clear that he cannot disobey orders. Nothing is more important than his life and safety, especially in the face of the sea.
"Absolutely, we guarantee it."
Of the four children, Mu Nanfang is the tallest, over 1.8 meters, the other two are over 1.7 meters, and even Xu Yang is about 1.5 meters tall; they are all grown men.
"Aunt Gu, what about Liu Jiu and San Qi?"
Xu Yi and the others have been chatting for a while, but they still haven't seen their friend.
"They went to the beach and won't be back for a while. You guys put your luggage in room 37; the kang there is big enough for you to sleep comfortably."
Bonnie pointed to Sanqi's room, and the four children went in carrying their things.
“Nizi, do you really know them? I thought it was a lie, especially since one of the children said she had been here before, but I didn’t recognize her.”
Bao Ni's mother really didn't recognize him. She knew that she and Xuan Yu had come with several children before, but so many years had passed, and the little boy had grown into a young man. She couldn't recognize him.
"It's changed so much, how are you supposed to recognize it? My uncle needs to prepare more food."
Bonnie hadn't expected four guests to arrive; she needed to prepare plenty of food.
"Don't worry, your uncle won't prepare everything in detail. Besides, we have everything we need at home."
Bao Ni's mother wasn't worried about these things. It wasn't like before, when meals were rationed. In the middle of summer, there were plenty of vegetables in the yard.
Since her mother said it was no problem, Bonnie wasn't worried anymore, after all, her mother could cook.
"Aunt Gu, can we go find Liu Jiu and the others?"
"Liu Jiu and the others went to practice diving. You can't find them. They went out by boat. I'll take you around the island first, to see these seaweed houses and help you get familiar with the area. They'll be back soon."
Bonnie has slept for several hours; she needs to get up and move around.
"Thank you, Auntie."
Xu Yi is quite resilient and doesn't get seasick, but Xu Yang does. He stayed inside and didn't come out, so Bao Ni's mother made him some ginger water to help him recover.
"Don't mention it, let's go."
Bonnie appeared on the island with three young men, attracting a lot of onlookers.
"Bonnie, do we have guests?"
"Yes, my relatives' kids are coming to visit for a few days, so I'm taking them out for a stroll."
Bonnie recognizes most of the elderly people on the island, but not the younger ones, as she has been gone for several years.
No sooner had Bonnie left than her uncle and aunt arrived.
"Sister-in-law, come lend a hand! Where did you put everything? Where's Bonnie?"
Uncle Lin prepared a lot of things, including seafood, meat, chicken, and wild vegetables.
“A few kids came from Beijing, and Bonnie took them out for a walk.”
