Chapter 456 Happy Time on the Island

"Wow, it smells so good! Grandpa made a big meal today!"

Sanqi took the lead and ran into the yard first.

“My grandfather was a head chef at a state-run restaurant. He cooked very delicious food. You are in luck.”

Liu Jiu explained to his friends why Panax notoginseng is so exciting.

"This trip was worth it. Eating seafood and diving, I don't know if I'll ever have another chance to do this again."

Xu Yi spoke as if he were living for today and might not live to see tomorrow, which prompted Zheng Jun, who was standing next to him, to pat him on the shoulder.

Mu Nanfang actually felt that this trip was very worthwhile, more worthwhile than going anywhere else.

In the courtyard, Xu Yang and Sanqi had already reconnected. He drank some ginger water and lay down for a while, and had recovered.

"The main force is back. Hurry up, wash your hands and move the table. We'll eat outside. Lin Bo, you and Lin Feng build a fire and light it later to keep the mosquitoes away."

After finishing the last dish, Uncle Lin instructed his nephew and son to get to work.

"Okay, I'll be right there."

Lin Bo went to move the wooden stakes, Lin Feng went to find someone to start a fire, and Liu Jiu led the others to wash their hands.

Two long tables were set up side by side in the courtyard, and dishes that looked delicious were served one after another.

Everyone was seated, with Grandpa and Grandma at the head of the table, and Bonnie's parents on either side. The others then lined up and sat down in order.

"Come on, we have guests today. Welcome! Have a good time and don't be shy. I won't say anything more, let's eat."

After Grandpa Bonnie finished speaking, he picked up a piece of food with his chopsticks, and the others followed suit.

"Wow, this is so delicious! It's the first time I've ever had such fresh seafood!"

Xu Yi wasn't exaggerating this time; he genuinely thought it was delicious.

"Mmm, this cooking is amazing. I'm not very good at describing it, but it just tastes delicious."

Zheng Jun also praised the cooking, saying that he had eaten many delicious foods and that the cooking skills were truly excellent.

"Grandpa, it's perfect. The seasonings are just right, not a bit more or less."

Sanqi's answer was somewhat like the very official response found on many food review programs, but in this case, it was a very high compliment.

“Sanqi, what you said is true. With your evaluation, if Grandpa can’t make it in the restaurant business in the future, he can open his own restaurant.”

Uncle Lin was also happy. These kids all came from big cities and their families were well-off; they had eaten good food before. With their approval, his confidence in opening his own shop increased.

"With Grandpa's skills, he would have a thriving business if he opened a shop in Beijing."

Mu Nanfang tasted every dish and gave an objective evaluation.

"Beijing? Really? My skills are good enough to be served at such a prestigious restaurant?"

Uncle Lin was surprised that this young man, who had been eating without saying a word, gave him such high praise.

"Beijing is a hub for migrants from all over the country. Their tastes are not like those of the locals, who are used to the flavors of Beijing. They are more open to new things, especially in our compound, which is a true gathering place for friends from all over the world."

Mu Nanfang's words were reasonable and well-founded, and Uncle Lin was deeply moved.

"Yes, Uncle, Nanfang is right. You can consider it."

Bonnie felt that her uncle's skills would be competitive even in Beijing. Especially now that the market is just opening up, there are many untapped markets, making the competition relatively small.

"My goodness, Da Hong, now that Bao Ni has said that, your Zhiqiang might be going to Beijing!"

Aunt Bao Ni was surprised that her brother-in-law was such a good cook; she had never eaten at any fancy restaurants. Since everyone in Beijing said so, it must work.

"Third sister-in-law, it's still far from certain. In any case, with their feedback, my Zhiqiang is in a good mood and has more confidence."

Aunt Bonnie was also happy; her husband's cooking skills were being recognized, and that made her happy.

As darkness fell, Lin Bo lit a campfire, and instantly the atmosphere changed.

"Xu Yi, I heard you can sing, sing a song for me."

Zheng Jun had gotten to know Xu Yi along the way and egged him on to sing.

Xu Yi wasn't intimidated. He stood up, cleared his throat, and sang a sweet song.

Honestly, nobody expected him to sing this song.

Bao Ni's mother and the others had never heard of it before, but they thought it sounded really nice.

"Slap slap..."

After the song was finished, the applause was very enthusiastic.

"Brother Xu Yi, you're great! The tape wasn't a waste of money to lend you, the singing is really good."

Sanqi thinks it scores over 90 points, so it seems Xu Yi really likes this song.

"What do you think? I've been listening to this for several nights in a row, and my grandpa is about to beat me up."

Xu Yi felt it was all worth it; he sang quite well.

Zheng Jun also stood up and sang "Ronghua," which also won a round of applause. Everyone had heard this song before; it was from the movie that was shown on the island.

Erbao had never heard of "Sweet Honey." He thought the world outside the island was wonderful, and he wanted to study hard because it was his only way out of the island.

"Mu Nanfang, why don't you sing one too!"

The atmosphere was quite lively, and Xu Yi started egging Mu Nanfang on.

Mu Nanfang sat there and sang "Nanniwan". Unlike Teacher Guo's female voice, he sang it with a different charm.

No one expected that Mu Nanfang, who looked like a rascal, also had a great voice.

Then, Lin Bo started singing military songs, which was too easy for a kid who grew up in a military compound.

One song after another, he sang with such a loud and clear voice.

Grandpa and Grandma were tired, so they went back inside. Bonnie's parents, on the other hand, found it quite interesting, sitting and watching the younger generation play. Isn't that the meaning of life?
