When I woke up this morning, I felt that the temperature had dropped a bit.
"Mom, are you going to pick up Grandpa and the others later?"
When Sanqi and the others came in, they brought with them a chill.
"Yes, I took the day off today. You guys hurry up and wash up, eat, and go to school. Is it cold outside? Do you need to wear another layer?"
"No need, it's not that cold."
The children went to wash up, and Bonnie went to the kitchen to help Sister Xiang set out the dishes.
"Bonnie, isn't it time to harvest your cabbages?"
I heard from my older sister that Bao Ni had planted a lot of cabbages and radishes.
"Yes, let me see if I can find the time this afternoon. I need to pick someone up at the station later. If not, I'll have to take another day off tomorrow."
Bonnie also felt it was time to harvest the vegetables. She hadn't had any free time while she was with the contractor repairing the house, so she had to hurry these next few days, in case of frost.
"Take me with you when you go. Do you need any pickled vegetables or spicy radishes?"
"Yes, I need to dry a lot of vegetables and pickle more, otherwise this winter will be too difficult."
The two of them reached an agreement, and the children came down to eat.
Seeing that it was almost time, Bonnie picked up her small bag and headed to the train station.
The distinctive whistles of trains filled the ears as dark green trains roared back and forth, bringing in or taking away waves of passengers.
Before her uncle and his family arrived by train, Bonnie wandered around the neighborhood and found a tractor used for hauling goods.
When Bonnie heard someone calling her, it was already half an hour later.
"Uncle, Aunt, are all the things here?"
Judging from the way the group was carrying things on their backs, shoulders, and hands, it seemed like they had moved half their home over.
"It's all here, plus some dried goods, which were shipped directly over. There's just too much."
Uncle Lin was quite excited to be in Beijing for the first time, feeling that it was different from his island or city life.
"Let's go then. I found a delivery truck; it's outside."
Bonnie took the luggage from her aunt and led the way out.
Aunt Lin took some of the things from Dingxiang's hands and walked out with Baoni.
"Uncle, put the things in the car, let's get in too, we still have a while to go."
"Okay, I'm coming right now."
The group loaded all their belongings into the tractor's trailer, which was almost full.
The mechanic took the crank handle, cranked it quickly, started the vehicle, and set off.
"Bonnie, have you found a place yet?"
Uncle Lin thought that if they found a place, they would go there directly instead of staying at Bonnie's house, as it would be too inconvenient for them to come and go.
"I've found a place, everything's set up, and you can just move in with your bags. But I haven't set up the restaurant space yet, so I don't know what to do. You can take a look and tell me what needs to be done, whether I should do it myself or hire someone?"
"Thank you for your hard work, Bonnie. Lin Nan and I will see what happens to the rest. If we can do it ourselves, we will; if not, we'll find someone to do it."
Uncle Lin didn't see the location, so we'll see how to do it later.
"Bonnie, let's go straight to the house you found, drop off our things, and stay there tonight."
When Aunt Bonnie heard that the place was all ready, she felt relieved. She was a little scared at the thought of going into the military compound.
"Why don't you come stay at my place for a few days? What's the rush?"
Bonnie didn't expect her aunt to be so eager to get to work as soon as she arrived.
"Baoni, Auntie is a little scared of moving into the military family compound. Let's go and familiarize ourselves with the place after we're all settled in."
“Yes, listen to your aunt. We’re here now and won’t be leaving anytime soon, so it won’t make a difference. Let’s check out the house first, so we’ll have a better understanding of the situation. The sooner we set up the restaurant, the sooner we can have peace of mind.”
Uncle Lin brought his wife and children here with a do-or-die attitude, under a lot of pressure. He thought that if he could earn money as soon as possible, he would feel at ease.
"Okay, I'll take you there. It's very close to the market and not far from the residential compound. It's a residential area with a lot of foot traffic."
Bonnie understands her uncle's feelings. He came here under pressure, and opening the business sooner would put his mind at ease.
After the driver parked the car near the family compound, Bonnie asked for directions and went directly to her newly purchased house.
"Uncle, this is it. I'll open the door. You guys move the things downstairs. The master is in a hurry to leave."
Bonnie paid the fare and told her uncle and the others to unload their things.
"This is a small courtyard. There are shops in front, and further in there is a small courtyard with three main rooms and one wing room on the east and west sides."
Bonnie explained the layout of the house as she walked inside.
"Bonnie, this place is great, so convenient, no need to travel back and forth."
Uncle Lin glanced at the layout of the house and was pleased to see that it was quite spacious.
After everything was moved in, Aunt Bao Ni and her daughter-in-law Ding Xiang went from room to room to check on things.
"Nizi, it's really nice, spacious and clean. You've tidied it up, haven't you?"
"I did some simple repairs, Uncle. I bought this house. When I was looking at houses, I liked this place. The owner only wanted to sell, not rent, so I bought it."
You can open your shop with peace of mind; you don't need to worry about the landlord changing their mind and not renewing the lease, no matter how you decorate it. If you want to operate long-term, it's best to keep it clean and bright to attract tenants.
Bonnie shared her thoughts, emphasizing that hygiene standards must be met.
"Nizi, how much did you spend on this house?"
Aunt Bonnie was startled. Why did they buy a house? This is such a mess.
"Yes, how much did this cost you?"
Uncle Lin never expected that his eldest niece would buy a house outright.
"Uncle, Aunt, I bought this house because it has value and will appreciate in value in the future. Even if it doesn't, I can earn it back by collecting rent. You don't need to feel burdened. I bought more than one house, and they are all rented out."
