Chapter 478 Another Year of College Entrance Examination Season

Lin Qiang ignored when his mother left. He silently looked at Qu Jing in the photo and muttered to himself.

"Wife, don't be afraid. Wait for me. I won't let any of those who drove you to your death get away with it. After I've dealt with them all, I'll come and be with you and the children."

The room was dark. Lin Qiang sat at the table, motionless like a puppet.

Outside, Lin's mother couldn't hear what her son was saying, and helplessly turned and left.

"Where's Lin Qiang? Did you ask him? Did he spread the rumors?"

Lin's father asked in a low voice, afraid that the neighbors would hear him and his house would be smashed up.

“He said it wasn’t him. I think Qiangzi has some mental issues. Ever since his wife died, he’s changed completely. He doesn’t talk much, and he’s become a creepy old man.”

"Never mind, I'll find a wife and have a child after a while, and then everything will be fine."

The elderly couple from the Lin family felt that as time went by and new people came into their lives, they would forget about the past.

But even as the leaves turned green and the peach blossoms fell, Lin Qiang hadn't forgotten his old flame. He refused to go on blind dates, threatening to argue with anyone who said otherwise. His family was a little afraid of him, and the neighbors suspected that Lin Qiang was spreading the rumors, but without evidence, they couldn't do anything about it.

The compound had quieted down; after all, arresting the dancers was just a coincidence, not their target. Some things couldn't be made public, and they were just innocent bystanders caught in the crossfire.

Although the gossip has stopped, the marriage prospects of Yang Xue and the other girls have become a problem. Not to mention the compound, even the staff quarters of other nearby factories, those who knew a little about it all refused to marry them.

The Yang family was extremely worried about Yang Xue's marriage, while other families were extremely nervous about the upcoming college entrance examination, especially after the preliminary exam, when they were preparing to apply for universities.

For over a year, Ma Zijun has hardly participated in any social activities, devoting all his time to studying. His recent exam results were quite good, increasing his chances of getting into his ideal university.

Lan Shengli was relaxed. His grades were average, but he should be able to get into a local ordinary university. He didn't have high expectations; he just wanted to be able to go to school, provided he didn't have to leave Beijing.

On weekends, the older children are no longer seen at the training ground; high school students are busy preparing for college entrance exams, and junior high students are busy preparing for high school entrance exams.

No one wants to give up until the very last moment. Those students who didn't pass the preliminary exam are busy looking for jobs or having their families pull strings to get them into the military, after all, it's a military compound.

"Six Nine, are you all alone?"

Mu Nanfang hadn't seen Liu Jiu for a while; his school was quite busy after the New Year. Computers are, after all, a relatively new technology, at least in China.

"Gu Xuanyi and Sanqi went to deliver something to Brother Xuanyu. I think they just wanted to avoid training."

Liu Jiu was also happy to see Mu Nanfang, and couldn't help but complain about his brother.

"Xuanyi and Sanqi are already quite skilled, and it seems they have no intention of applying to military academy."

Mu Nanfang knew that Liu Jiu wanted to take the military academy entrance exam, but Gu Xuanyi didn't seem to have that idea.

"Even if you don't go to military academy, what's wrong with exercising more and improving your physical fitness? In case of any emergencies in the future, at least you'll have an extra means of survival."

Liu Jiu believed that a person who does not plan for the future will have trouble in the present. She could not think of anything else, but she never hesitated to exercise.

"That's true. No one can guarantee that everything will always go smoothly. Natural disasters and man-made calamities can happen."

Liu Jiu spoke with utmost seriousness, and Mu Nanfang was persuaded. The main reason was that the Gu family's children had been consistently exercising and were doing very well.

"That's true, you've convinced me. How long have you been training? Shall we have a spar later?"

"Great, I ran three kilometers, did obstacle courses, and did push-ups."

Liu Jiu has been out for an hour, and San Qi and Gu Xuanyi aren't planning to come back. They've probably run off somewhere else again.

Mu Nanfang looked at Liu Jiu's face, which had become even darker from the sun, and the white layer he had covered up in winter was gone again.

"Well, you've warmed up now. I've been reading all morning, and my body is a bit stiff, so I need to move around."

Commander Mu asked someone to bring some computer data from the port city, and Mu Nanfang has been looking at it all morning.

"Then you need to move around a bit, otherwise you might easily get hurt."

Liu Jiu accompanied Mu Nanfang for half an hour to warm up before the two of them went to spar.

"Liu Jiu, let's call it a day. I've been training for the past two months, and you've fallen far behind again."

"I can feel it, but it's not much different. If you have time to continue training, you should be able to get back into shape."

Liu Jiu thought Mu Nanfang was already quite good; among their peers, he was already very strong. He was much stronger than Xu Yi. As for Ma Zijun, they had never had the chance to spar with him.

"Gu Yun Chu, Mu Nan Fang, they're showing a movie about World War II in the auditorium. Are you going?"

Xu Yi passed by the training ground and saw Gu Yun Chu and the other person, so he greeted them.

"Really? Who told you that?"

Liu Jiu was skeptical. Although there are many overseas Chinese now, there are still very few genuine foreign films. Professor Zhai has some at home, but most of them are about humanities and geography; war films are rare.

"Sanqi said that he was called to be a translator; my grandfather called him over."

Xu Yi rushed over after receiving a call; Liu Jiu wasn't home, otherwise she probably would have received the call.

"Then I'll go too, Mu Nanfang, are you coming?"

"Go, it's a rare opportunity, and there's even someone to translate."

Mu Nanfang didn't know if his father was coming. Since it was organized by Political Commissar Xu and his group, his father might be coming too.
