Chapter 493 Passed the Exam

After the movie ended, Mu Nanfang took Liu Jiu to a nearby Western restaurant, commonly known as Lao Mo.

This wasn't Liu Jiu's first time at a Western restaurant; she and San Qi had previously worked as waitresses there, thanks to Teacher Zhai. But that restaurant was in English and French, quite different from this Russian restaurant.

Upon entering the restaurant, the large windows immediately catch the eye, with velvet curtains and white sheer curtains billowing in the wind, creating a slightly ethereal feel.

The table was covered with a tablecloth, the glasses were polished to a shine, and the cutlery gleamed silver. Music played in the restaurant, and the waiters were neatly dressed...

Liu Jiu and Mu Nanfang ordered their food, listened to music, and waited quietly.

Braised beef in a pot, cream of mushroom soup, vegetable salad, and rye bread were served all at once.

"Liu Jiu, are you hungry? Have some."

Mu Nanfang and Liu Jiu picked up their utensils and prepared to eat.

Liu Jiu took a sip of the cream of mushroom soup, and if she weren't afraid of wasting food, she would have definitely spat it out.

"How is it? Are you enjoying the food?"

Mu Nanfang himself swallowed it with a frown, he really wasn't used to it.

Are you used to it?

Could Liu Jiu not see Mu Nanfang's furrowed brows? Both of them had Chinese stomachs and were really not used to this Western stuff.

"We ordered it, so let's finish it. I'll treat you to noodles with soybean paste later."

Mu Nanfang felt that he hadn't done a good job. It was the first time he had gone out alone with Liu Jiu, and he had thought it would leave some good memories.

However, the awkward incident at the movie theater and the unfamiliarity with the Western restaurant made things a complete mess.

Why are you still frowning? Has the smell of the food still lingered?

Liu Jiu felt this was wrong; they had each drunk a bottle of soda, and she thought that was enough.

"No, it's just that I feel we didn't choose a good location today."

"It was quite funny. I still laugh when I think about what happened in the movie theater. After I came out, I was thinking, what if someone found out that it was you who shouted? Would we end up fighting with them?"

Liu Jiu actually flinched instinctively. She had read some intimate descriptions in foreign novels, but seeing a real-life version of it made her feel a little uncomfortable.

"No, you're about to go to military academy, you can't just do anything. If you leave a bad record, it will affect your military career."

Mu Nanfang is past the age of fighting. When he was young, he didn't know any better and it was okay to fight, but now, it's not allowed.

"That's true, especially after September. If I get into a fight, I'm likely to get a demerit."

Liu Jiu was just saying that she hadn't fought with anyone in a long time, so there was no need for it.

Once things were out in the open, Mu Nanfang realized he had made a mountain out of a molehill. Liu Jiu hadn't even realized some things yet; he had put himself under immense pressure.

Finally, the two went to eat Zhajiangmian (noodles with soybean paste), each eating a large bowl, and kept burping from the food.

"Let's go home."

Liu Jiu rode off first, while Mu Nanfang followed behind, ringing his bell the whole way, his laughter echoing through the sweltering summer heat.

While waiting for their results, Liu Jiu and Mu Nanfang formed a study group.

Mu Nanfang taught Liu Jiu some basic computer knowledge, and Liu Jiu accompanied Mu Nanfang to practice her spoken English. When they got tired of studying, they would go to the training ground to practice.

At the end of July, the college entrance examination results were released. Liu Jiu's score was very good, and barring any unforeseen circumstances, he should be admitted.

Xuan Yi's grades were also very good, slightly lower than Liu Jiu's, but passing the cutoff was not a problem. Now, the whole family was relieved and just waited for the admission notice.

These past few days, Gu Ye has been walking with a swagger; his child has made him so proud. Now at work, everyone asks, "Commander Gu, how do you teach your child to get such good grades? Do you have any secrets?"

Gu Ye would always answer proudly, "It's all thanks to my wife; she taught me so well."

As a result, Bonnie suddenly attracted attention in the compound. People, whether they knew her or not, familiar or unfamiliar, all came to ask her about methods for raising children.

"Gu Ye, look at the mess you've made! These past few days, my face has been practically frozen from smiling. A bunch of people have been surrounding me, asking how to get their kids to do well in school. Tell me, how am I supposed to answer them?"

Saying it's all the result of the child's own hard work would only make people resentful, wouldn't it? If I don't say that, what else can I say? If I say nothing, they'll say I'm hiding something. It's so annoying.

Bonnie was getting a little irritable. Seriously, she really wasn't suited to dealing with groups of people. Listening to them talking to themselves made her want to punch them.

"Honey, I'm sorry. I just wanted to praise you and let people know about your achievements. I didn't expect it to cause you so much trouble."

Gu Ye didn't find it and this is the result; it's truly a case of losing more than he gained.

"It's alright, I've made up my mind. Tomorrow I'll take the kids and Sister Xiang and move to the courtyard house. The vegetables in the yard are all harvested, and we need to dry them."

"Going to the courtyard house? What about me?"

"You either travel back and forth, or you stay at home by yourself. If all else fails, you can stay at the military base."

Bonnie had already made up her mind; she slipped away unnoticed.

"Of course I'll go with you. I'm not going to live in the military base. That's a place for bachelors without wives."

"Then you'll have to work hard, honey."

After Bonnie finished speaking, she prepared to go to sleep. Talking too much is tiring, even more tiring than working.

The next day, Bonnie packed her things early in the morning and took her child and Sister Xiang to the courtyard house. When the rest of the group arrived, Bonnie's house was quiet and empty.

"Oh my, these vegetables are growing so well, Bonnie, we need to hurry up and dry them, it'll be a shame if they get too old."
